A fool and his money! And what a waste of it. All that money and all it does is tell time. My $20 Timex will do that and has a stop watch and an alarm and even a calculator. I even have a watch with a universal remote control that I paid $15 for.

Ok so, let's pretend I'm a trillionaire... still I wouldn't pay this kind of money for a watch, even if it belonged to Paul Newman! I mean, not even if this watch belonged to God! I just don't get it!

Its worth pointing out that the Auctioneer knows exactly who is on the other end of those phones. You do not get to be on that phone unless the auction house has verified you have the serious financial capability.

On a more positive note … I’ve been to car auctions before, where the auctioneer has whacked the hammer down before speeding on to the next car; but not before saying to the seller in the crowd “I did try for you” (which means that he paused for all of about a third of a second).

Where was the watch??? Normally the item is on display at the auction house itself, or at the very least it is paraded at the front of the room by an usher (possibly flanked either side by a couple of security guards - depending on the reserve price of the item). I give the auctioneer 7/10 Room atmosphere 5/10 Item proof of existence 3/10 Room interior design 1/10 Overall … this isn’t what I was expecting for the auction of a high value piece, and not a scratch on footage that I have seen on the news for other high value items sold in years gone by.
