A cold morning on 18/11/24 saw a Hanson Hall class 50 travel to the Weardale Railway via its rather under used mainline like at Bishop Auckland. We start at Castle Hills foot crossing in Northallerton, a favourite spot of mine where we see a good mix of traction at high speed. I knew the 50 would be laying some power down here after being looped to allow a passenger service to pass.
We then move to Locomotion Museum in Shildon where I arrived just in time. The 50 was held at a beautiful semaphore signal as it waited for a class 156 to come off the single line section from Bishop Auckland. Here we see the driver pop out and get a couple of pictures of this lovely loco.
The driver gets the road and off he goes, passing the museum with some great tones for people watching on the small museum platform.
