The example 3d abaqus FEA model that you showed in the slide on monopolies - p-y curves is inadequate. The FEA model bottom boundary is at an insufficient depth to fully capture the response of the soil body to the pile under load. The bottom boundary needs to be at least 2 - 3 times the length of the section of monopile anchored in soil.
