The bass is powerful and deep but shitty quality. I just bought a JVC HX-Z3 in mint condition and am so disappointed in the bass. Panasonic mini-systems from the same time period like the SC-AK45, SC-AK47, SC-AK29, etc. have bass with a bit less ultimate power and don't quite go as deep but their bass hits with so much more punchiness, detail, speed, and fidelity. The JVC's bass is so round, slow, bloated, and boomey while the panasonic's bass is so tight, fast, punchy, detailed, and CRISP. If you want to slowly vibrate your whole house as if a spaceship is slowly flying by your home, get the JVC. If you want the quick and hard punch of music beats, car exhausts, gun shots, etc. get the Panasonics. The JVC is like a big truck hitting something at 50 km/h or in slow motion. The Panasonics are like a smaller truck hitting something at 200 km/h. JVC's bass is more like an earthquake. Panasonic's bass is more like a shotgun blast.

Just picked one up in perfect condition for 70 bucks. Best thing I ever bought, sounds amazing.

I have the jvc mx-gb6 and that gives off alot of bass and excursion when I put the rhythm ax on the speakers slide on the desk plus I've got 2 technics and a 700w pioneer subwoofer
