    Sherpas have the most interesting history of all Tibetans. They are actually descendant of the Tangut Empire who were originally from Amdo or northeast Tibet. They established the Western Xia Dynasty between Mongolia and central China and many fled as refugees after Genghis Khan destroyed their empire. They fled to Kham where they settled the region which became known as “Minyak” (“Minyak” is the Tibetan word for the Tanguts). Then after religious persecution (since most of them were Nyingmapas) by the Gelugpa, many of them fled west into central Tibet until they settled around Mt Everest and founded Shar Khumbu and became known as Sherpas (“easterners”). One of the clans of Sherpa is known as “Minyagpa”.

    His grand dad is actually Tibetan. his grandad speak fluent toepa dialect. sherpa don't speak that dialect. They speak 90% nepali and 10% sherpa language. he got his sur name sherpa bc he married to sherpa woman. if he didn't have that sur name he wouldn't be able to claim it due to Tibetan being stateless in Nepal. Looks like grandson didn't about it or may be its just me.

    • @educlectic
      @educlectic หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have Toepa ancestry and I disagree that Sherpas don’t speak that dialect. Maybe it’s different now, but many Sherpas in the Khumbu region (especially 60+ years ago) could comprehend the Toepa dialect. Sherpas and Toepas (especially those from Tingri, Shelkar, Dram regions) have intermarried with each other for centuries. Sherpas have lots of Toepa blood, many Toepas have Sherpa blood. Hyolmo/Yolmo people are also classified as Sherpa, but they speak pure Kyirong Toepa language.

      @@WaMo721 Toepas (སྟོད་པ་) are Tibetans native to southwestern Tibet, regions along the border with Nepal. Most famous Toepa areas are the regions of Dingri, Shelkar, Nyalam, Dzongka, Dram, Kyirong. I'd say at least 40-50% of all exile Tibetans in Nepal are Toepas.

    Many Tibetans who live in India or abroad ask why India does not do anything Why doesn't Modi do anything for us? I ask you a question. When the agreement was signed between the Communist Chinese Government and Mr. Dalai Lama before 1959, did you ask India? First they went to Beijing and signed a agreement with China and later backed out, after which China invaded Tibet and occupied it The American government intelligence agency knew everything about what China was going to do, then why did it not do anything, which is why today Tibetans who consider America as their loyalists Because of giving refuge to Mr. Dalai Lama and Tibetans India fought a war with China in 1962 because of Tibet and China occupied Aksai Chin And Tibetans today say India does not talk to China for our independence India became independent in 1947 with neither arms nor army There was a Panchasheel agreement with China in 1954 and there was a lot of peace between the two countries India had the Panchsheel Agreement with China in 1954 and there was a lot of peace between the two countries America is remembering it now because it does not have good relations with China. At one time both were very good friends. In 1962 when India had a war with China, America did not provide any help or any weapon.Due to the pressure of Soviet Union, peace was established between China and India and the war was stopped.No matter how much India fought with China and Pakistan, America always supported them and kept providing weapons to Pakistani terrorists.Read history once, what America did to India, go and see the war of 1971, today the people of Tibet only talk about America
