I know this is probably not intentional but there is a hidden genius to his theme, specifically at this motif 1:39-1:58. It sounds like a more sinister version of “This Land” from The Lion King which was also composed by Hans Zimmer, and I just can’t help but think that it’s perfect. We have 2 fallen princes regaining power but from completely different circumstances. One is a prince whose father was killed him and banished by a usurper. He’s a tragic hero remembering his true place and destiny. The other is a displaced mad tyrant who was banished by his own parents because of the dark path he followed and his actions. He has fallen so deep in his insanity and hate that he builds his own army in exile and retakes his throne and seeks to take over his own country. But unlike Simba, Shen tries to avoid the destiny they gave him and makes his own. This comparison is honestly what makes Shen’s theme genius to me, a parallel of heroes and villains.

This is my favourite villain theme song apart from Carnage in venom let there be carnage

Gotta love how the main villain who's a tech savvy and a well known scientist is actually an Octopus in disguise, which could be nodding to how Octopi are one of the most intelligent animals in the world.
