Hummer H3 Sunroof leak fix
มุมมอง 5K5 ปีที่แล้ว
If you're constantly dealing with problems of water leaking through your sunroof, here's a recap on what I did over a year ago. I went from cleaning out the drains every few months, to a year of no leaks at all until the motor stripped the gear and wouldn't close properly.

    Anyone ever get a smell of hot burning rubber when driving at slow speed w their hummer? Heat gauge was up close to 3/4. Wondering if the thermostat might be going out? Thanks I’m advance for any suggestions! 😊

    the reason you go through the wheel well is so you can check for leaks while running engine if you go the alt route and find a leak you will have to remove alt again

    We just bought a used one and the sunroof on it has been sealed up. Guessing that it had been leaking. How would we take the sealant off and repair? Just wondering if you can offer any suggestions. Thanks

    Just did my 2007. Went in through the wheel well. You need locking pliers to get the retaining ring off. Pull the hose off and bend it out of the way. Use a universal adapter for your socket and a few extensions. It's tight but with the universal you can get around the alternator. Reassemble and tighten with a torque wrench. The universal adapter is the key. Took about 1.5 hrs. Best of luck to those looking for answers.

    I 3M sealed my sunroof and disabled the power switch, don't have time for junk, I love and thoroughly enjoy my 2006 black Hummer H3 now without the hassle of a leaking roof.

    If you are going to attempt to do it through the fender well make sure you get some STURDY pliers with very very long handles. I've been at it for 3 days trying it through the fender well, I have bought two sets of pliers already and neither were sturdy or long enough. The reason is, you have very limited space, and the clamp is fucking strong af. So i am going to do it the way this guy did it because in my opinion if you dont have little arms and hands and have the grip strength of a strong man then you would be better off doing it the way this guy did. I swear wish I would have done it this way from the beginning I would have BEEN DONE. Through the fender is less work and not bad if you get the right pliers but then after that the top thermostat bolt is a bitch to get too. Have a small ratchet with an extension.

    Hi there , do Hummer H3 have Thermostats with a Valve to Bleed them , if not then how did you bleed the air out of the Coolant System please ?

    • @robjackson4046
      @robjackson4046 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They have a pretty high radiator and reservoir. The air doesn't get trapped in the head.

    Hmmm That looks like my truck. Oh wait, it is my truck!! lol Nice video! Curious, did you by chance do the grommet drill out procedure? So far since I've bought the truck from you, I've -removed the carpet and soaked it in a bathtub with bleach and water -repaired the rear left door open switch -aligned the fenders with the body -cleaned the hell out of the seats, headliner, plastics, etc etc -replaced some interior lights with LEDs -cleaned up some rust that I found under the carpet, used some rust converter and then bed liner all over the floor -removed that cb radio I'll never use :-) -fixed the rip in the headrest -freed up and lubed one of the tow hooks -replaced the sunroof gear -removed the headrest DVD players -fixed the adjustable headrests I'm loving every minute of it, I've got many many plans :-D Thanks again!!

    Did you ever have a different reading on the heat gauge after replacing the thermostat ? i got the thermostat replaced and after it was replaced the reading was different. It was reading alot hotter than usual is that normal ?

    • @robjackson4046

      Yes, I was reading around 165 at the ECM and the gauge was about a quarter to 3/8 before. After I was at 190 at the ECM and halfway to a little above it.

  • @joebob344

    I did this by removing the front tire way. My advice is to put the radiator hose on the new thermostat first making sure the holes on the thermostat line up without twisting the hose. I had my lower hose already on the bottom of the radiator but not tightened. Gotta tweak it. I tried putting the thermostat on first then trying to move that heavy duty hose clamp into place. Impossible.

    • @robjackson4046
      @robjackson4046 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's highly likely. Other reasons may be the sensor is not accurate so it shows a lower temperature. I checked that first and confirmed it was the t-stat.

    • @robjackson4046
      @robjackson4046 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Chuck Collins I have no idea, you should ask whoever told you that. It's built into the the inside of the housing unlike many other thermostats, so maybe that's it.
