This is the opening to what will be a collection of my progressive and fusion works - to be released song-by-song through the end of 2019. As someone who often has to navigate different environments, disciplines, and modes of thought, I often think about the ways in which we manipulate our internal signals and systems - like flipping switches on a machine - to operate in these sometimes radical...

Into the Crawling Chaos - The Hudson Horror (Bass Playthrough)

Our most recent The Hudson Horror release, titled Ruiner, turned 1 a couple of weeks ago. To refresh myself on the material from the EP, and test these #DarkglassAlphaOmega tones, I made a playthrough the last track, titled "Into the Crawling Chaos"; lots of rhythmic and melodic bits in this one to work through. Enjoy! If you like what you hear, head over to thehudsonhorror.bandcamp.com/album/r...

Beautiful, as always! Congratulations with your new release!
Thank you, my dude! Now all the culture needs is a Sarpay drop 👀
Nar likes (that's me)
little Alan Holdsworth sound in the intro, all three tunes pretty nice
has a retro vibe
nice tune
Well done, Amped Attrition
Hold up! Who is this!?
@@taj_bass86 it was back in the AIM messanger days haha. I had a lot of sn's so can't remember which ones you knew me by but I can remember one of the nicknames was Aiko. Used to play guitar also at one point. Super long time ago so not expecting you to remember me lol!
@@SireniaShadow Of course I remember! Sheeeshh, it's been such a long time, hah. How're things? We should catch up. BTW this record is out now! th-cam.com/play/PLMJYi205mQom5O4rEyn1FDGqqyV77J4fG.html
I stumbled across this and I absolutely LOVE IT!! The Bruhs LOL
Memories!! Great Music in VENEZUELA!!
Why was this in my recommended after 6 years? Anyways, sounds sick lmao
Sounds great. Props to you, keep it up!
This is really cool :3. 10/10
This still gives me goosebumps
Wonderfully chill and complex. Great track!
this is very awesome love it
That's some kind of AmbientMetalJazz? Interesting stuff :) Wish the drums woud've been slightly louder. Scene 1: My favourite, great atmosphere, wish it was longer. Scene 2: Complicated, precise, and The Harmonies [TM]! Well done. Scene 3: Somwhere between Michael Landau, Steve Vai, Alan Holdsworth and Animals As Leaders. Confusing and nice. Scene 4: First I couldn't connect, then it went nice and interesting, love the harmonies at the end! Best wishes from the Wolf :)
Ah. Thanks so much for listening (and listening deeply)! Cheers!
holy this is old! found you through your "drunk" cover. Great stuff!
These are awesome riffs and atmospheres! Really good stuff.
Hey man, what are your thoughts on that bass? I dig what I've seen and heard of them but I keep hearing/reading a lot of mixed reviews about them.
Now do it backwards
You are an amazing artist. I am really impressed with your work. Keep it up!!😍😍💕💕💕
Awesome! What's the tuning on is?
Standard 5-string tuning: B E A D G
hey a few years ago, you wrote the song called paradise life sung by Reekz. Do you know what happened to it?
my favorite song by them! love that fast section
And I thought I had some of the oldest TH-cam videos haha! Back before commercials and “influencers” or “creators” You were rippin back then too haha 🤘🏻
Hell yeah!
Do you have notation of this or did you just learn it by ear? Awesome playing
Harry Quantrell6969 learned it by ear; it’s great ear training!
Hey man! Also came from Adams video and fell in love with the Hudson Horror and your bass playing. I showed the album, and especially What the Moon Brings to my bands and we want to cover it- but I've been having trouble hearing the bass in the mix. Would it possible for you to upload a cover? I would also definitely buy the charts or score from you if that's easier. Love the music, keep up the great work, and bass on
Thanks for the kind words - I’m stoked to hear that you want to do a cover! I’ll take a look to see if I still have the isolated bass track and chart. Send me an email: tajbassmusic@gmail.com
@@taj_bass86 Just sent you that email! thanks again

I love your playing, and the music of the hudson horror in general. Glad I found you. I noticed that you rarely stray from the guitar parts - do you think this serves the music best? I am often afraid of the cliché that in metal, the bass is just the guitar, but lower. And while I agree that it usually really helps to make the music more easily accessible, and sounds really good, I like to experiment. Usually not very successfully, though.
Thanks for checking out the music! As far as doubling the guitars, it really depends on the tune - mainly the kind of groove. In the Hudson Horror, I’ll often times make slight variations to the bass parts so that it still fits the rhythmic framework while still adding some melodic spice to the tune; this is pretty common in music with rigid rhythmic structures like progressive metal. At the same time, there are some tunes with funkier grooves that give me the space to play out a bit more. I wrote a lot of the later THH tunes, so I had a general idea of where I wanted to go with the bass parts as I was composing.
Dude! Every time I turn around you become more and more of a monster. Stop. You're making the rest of us look bad. 👍😂
Saw you on Adam Neely’s video. As soon as I saw the Inferi shirt, I knew you’d be sick. Haha great playing and great song here.
Thanks so much for stopping by - I really appreciate it!🤘🏾
Tyreek Jackson of course, man! Anytime.
Nice Bass solo
what bass is that?
Are these limes or bananas?
Sebastian Nanook this probably more like an everything bagel.
I'm here because of Adam Neely, but bro this is excellent! It has progressive elements which I like, the melody is great, in some parts the voice reminds me of Pestilence (specifically the Consuming Impulse album), I like the groove and the music made me feel something! Excellent bass playing and terryfying tone which is great for this type of music and it doesn't feels overproduced or the instruments compressed as in some new metal intents out there!
Adam brought me here aswell! Killer playing dude! Not really into death metal though but cool stuff!
Aw yeah!
I'm glad I watched that Adam Neely video until the end.
Not something I expect from someone who went to Jazz school but it's great how musicians can have VASTLY different musical tastes and inspiration, it's awesome! (Love the shirt too!)
Thanks, Neely, for the pointer. I love it! And it's so cool to see a guy who can just as easily improvise jazz as do death metal. So great to see. I only wish I was that good in my dreams.
Cheers! For me, I see a lot of commonalities between death metal and jazz, and so it felt natural for me to explore both (and everything in between). Don't be afraid to just jump into both dimensions and try to find the string that ties them together!
Come because Neely, Stay because BASS! Killer stuff
Adam Neely's video brought me here and I must say this is really nice stuff! Congrats Dr. Jackson
Thanks and thanks so much for stopping by. I really dig your Meshuggah cover!
Why did you steal my name
I dig it
Yeah!
amazing
@jckchrstphr keepin' it miami-fresh while blowing over some trane
Brutal, man! I made a cover only for the solo part and final section, maybe you wanna check it out :) Someday I hope to pull off all of it. Very nice song, and Pete Perez is truly inhuman. Very well done!
