KC & the Overlanders
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 8 ต.ค. 2020
Roof top tent, tear drop trailer, a family of four and some amazing campsites - join us on our camping adventures! My family and I have been camping and overlanding for years and are excited to share our travels with you! We usually always camp in BLM land, national forests, dispersed areas and most recently a national park! We travel with solar panels and carry a ton of water so we are completely self supported. We have traveled all over the western United States from Minnesota, Montana, Wyoming, Dakotas, Utah, Washington State, Arizona, Colorado and a few other places in between. We are passionate about food and booze so expect some great camp meals and libations along with a few hikes too! We've also made a few trips in our 1958 Willy's Wagon so if you're a vintage jeep person check those videos out! We do have day jobs and kids so our posts will not be on a regular schedule ;)
🍻Cheers and happy camping!⛺️

Your Next Adventure Awaits - Camp & Hike in the Shoshone National Forest
About 30 miles outside of Lander, WY take State Road 131 up to the Shoshone National Forest where you will eventually find the very quiet and beautiful Louis Lake Campground. It's a small national forest campground with just 9 spots and no potable water. Louis Lake is at your fingertips with plenty of hiking trails and water activities to please everyone. In our video we will tour the campground, cook an easy meal with a cocktail of course and show you a trail that leads to a historic fire overlook that is still used today. Cheers and happy camping!

"Stay Away?" Camping at Dead Swede with KC and the Overlanders
มุมมอง 404ปีที่แล้ว
Camp and dine with us and some dead Swedish guys in the Bighorn Mountains! This past June we were lucky enough to be the very first campers of the season in Dead Swede due to the very late spring and summer. We take you on a tour of this gem along the South Tongue River, make some pasta, visit the grave sites and come across a curious deer at camp as well. While you are at Dead Swede be sure to...
Best Day Hike at Kachemak Bay State Park @KCandtheOverlanders

Hello all! In this video we take you on an easy and breathtaking hike in Kachemak Bay State Wilderness Park outside of Homer, AK. Kachemak Bay State Park is only accesible by boat or sea plane, we took a water taxi out of Homer. The hike was about 5 miles overall, with a quick detour to the Grewingk Tram which everyone must do! Glacier Lake was stunning and Saddle Trail going down to Halibut Co...
A quick recap of our summer travels! @KCandtheOverlanders
มุมมอง 2932 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video we show you a recap of our spring and summer travels which include Utah, Alaska, Wyoming and a few places close to home in Minnesota and Wisconsin. This past summer we learned a lot about our family and how we camp and travel. After spending two weeks on the WY Back Country Discovery Route we felt very isolated which in small doses can be great but it was a little too long for us....

Stunning!
Did your bed rails get wavy at all after installing the smartcap?
No fishing or good hunting?
would you be willing to measure from the bed of the truck to the interior roof height on the bottom of the cross bars? I have an F250 and am considering this, and wondering if I can fit both a decked cargo glide system and I could have our gravel bikes on fork mounts on top of the decked system in this set up? great review. Thanks!
what is cost? no lights included?
Thanks for the video. I have a 2024 Tacoma TRD Off Road, and waiting patiently for my SC. Very excited for the possibilities.
Painted the roof of my Smartcap with Beest RV roof coating. Surprised how much heat it cuts down. Highly recommend. Also put foam board on the ceiling and sides for insulation but haven’t had cold weather yet since getting it.
Does it get really hot in the summer heat because it's not fiberglass?
What a nice cap and great review, I’ve seen a few on many different styles of trucks . I was curious about there features . Cheers 🇨🇦
"A lot of company put on PLASTIC RAIL?" C'mon Man! Is the 'BOZO JOE BIDEN" still you daddy?!
Hey there! What is the location of your site at the beginning of the video? I'm making my way to the Badlands with my wife for our first camping trip next month and would love to stay near that spot. Incredible views!!!
I’m looking at caps to transport my dogs. Would it get too hot for them while we are driving with the side windows open? I thought about just keeping the front window open with my AC running.
It does get hot in the smartcap. Even with the windows down and high temps we’ve had to bring our pups inside the truck with us. We have a Saint Bernard with a very thick coat so we are always careful, but it does get hot. 🥵
What is the back seat from? I have a ‘51 I’m building right now
Tuff!!!!
Great overview of the smart cap. After searching for the past two years, I’ve finally found one for my Ram 3500. You did a great job explaining how and why it’s built the way it is. I’ve noticed that many people don’t fully appreciate the features of this great cap.
Hi Dan Where did you get your roll bar? I have a 1956 I am working on and thought it would be important to add one.
3 years later, how has this held up? Still happy with it?
I see you have lots of adventure videos Going to open them up sometime to see how the Jeep wagon performs Thank you kindly…your sharing is a good thing and welcomed immensely beste 👊🔥 🪖
You did a magnificent, well designed and thought out job here Great safety and most unusual power and gearing features Also height and wheel size wise : magnificent Really cool The 50’s style is MOST appealing, classic and gives great joie Really a fantastic configuration and spacious (nice that you clearly mention your collaborators in support❗️) Wld Love to own one very similar (all the way from the Fairest Cape Winelands down South Afrika…🥂) (have subscribed…not to fear😳❗️) All of the best 👊🔥 🪖
Eww banana slugs I want a refund now!
They are everywhere around SF if you know where to look. I walked around Lake Merced this morning & crossed paths with no fewer than seven; two being five inches long! Heavy too. They were crossing the runners path, moving toward the roadway. Eucalyptus leaves are in abundance there so moving them is easy. Can’t risk burning them with your fingers’ salinity.
The only issue here sometime these are even more expensive than the car hauling them.
Flexing
Hey What is the opening height from truck bed liner to top of window where it opens, say I was trying to fit a large tall piece of furniture for example? Is it higher than 37inches? Thanks
This video helped me decide on my setup. I'm getting the same one, with a rooftop tent. The fact that the shell can hold up to 700lb saves space for other equipment. Most setups I've seen have open racks which I don't like. Very good video thanks.
Thanks for your comment Alex! Have fun on your travels!
thanks for the video well done!!
Glad you liked it! This is one of our favorite spots! :)
How heavy is it dry and packed. Wondering if my 2022 Bronco Base 4 cylinder would be able to tow. Does it have brakes?
They make good music
The exact setup we are looking for
Bro was going AT IT 😂 and great videos. Thanks for reviewing.
4 season?

hi there, I am planning a 30 day trip with my kids this summer and I would love to know the campsite or spot you guys used in this video. Such a beautiful place to camp and ride.
Hello! This is where we camp in the Kootenai National Forest :) The Lake Creek Campground is located approximately 32 miles southwest of Libby off the West Fisher road. The campground has 4 sites all with tent pads, tables and fire rings and able to accommodate up to a 32' rv. There are also 4 dispersed campsites. Campground roads and parking spurs are gravel or native material. Amenities include potable water and vault toilets. Directions: From Libby follow Hwy 2 south to milepost 56.7 and take a right onto Libby Creek road 231. Follow road 231 for 6.4 miles to the junction with Bramlet Creek road 2332, take a right. Follow road 2332 for 0.72 miles to the Lake Creek Campground junction. Campground is accessible by car but a high clearance vehicle is recommended on most forest roads. Dump facilites, showers, laundry, gas, ice and store are located in Libby. All of this info is from the USDA Forest Service website. I believe the sites are first come first served unless it has changed over the years. Happy camping this summer! :)
thank you so much @@KCandtheOverlanders
Hey there! Looking at one of these....have you had any issues in the 2 years????
Hello! We just started to have some leaking issues, Dan is working on it now. He thinks it has something to do with the positive air pressure on top… please stay tuned and we’ll let you know. :)
Hello from a fellow Minnesotan! First time visitor and love the videos. I hope your still making them and sharing your adventures.
Hello! So happy to hear you like our videos! Unfortunately our day jobs have the best of us right now but we hope to get more videos out at some point. :) Thanks for your comment from the land of 10,000 lakes!
You have to coat and spray the locks with WD-40. They will not freeze on you ever again. Winter maintenance.
After owning it for 2 years- have you used it for dogs on road trips ? Was it helpful ?
I wonder, if you are sleeping inside the RSI covered bed with all the windows pulled closed, is the seal so tight that you would run out of oxygen, do you have to leave a window open or cracked in that case?
Really appreciate the video, we’ll done! What rope light kit did you order?
Great video. I just bought one for my 2024 Tundra long box. Very excited to try it out and outfit it. Really like the interior lighting you installed.
You need to turn your mike up.
Do you have a link to this tub?
theoriginalnomad.com/products/collapsible-tub-and-coil-combo Although I’ve heard through some of their reviews it’s been hard to get these days, just be careful and do your homework. ;) We bought ours several years ago.
Do you know the dimensions of the two boxes it comes in?
It is a very nice rest stop👍
One of the many reasons we ❤️ Wyoming!
This place was film 1993 good son 😊
overlanding in a platinum tremor omfg
What did that truck cost you without the smart cap? 100K ?
Don’t wanna be that guy but it’s actually 2 hours southeast of Minneapolis
So nice! I’d love to do the exact same thing to a Willy’s Overland.
I have a '50 Jeep Delivery project out back just waiting to be Loved on!
Killer Wagon upgrade! Curious from a new owner perspective, what’s a budget for a similar build? $30k? I too am look to make reliable upgrades and give it our own fun personality.
