Unusual Antagonists: Face off with killer clowns, cereal demons, and more.
Retro Graphics: Nostalgic PSX visuals with a horror twist.

I Made a Game for the Nokia 3310
มุมมอง 9218 หลายเดือนก่อน
Play Floaty Boy: spikely.itch.io/floaty-boy I spent 10 days making a Nokia-themed game for the Nokia Jam 6 game jam called Floaty Boy. I had so much fun with this project , all its restrictions forced me to think outside the box. Floaty Boy is a hardcore precision platformer that sometimes can be as difficult as Super Meat Boy or Celeste. If I find the time I will add more levels and expound on...
@spikely could u do another one ? these tutorial are really helpful
Thanks! Is there anything specific you want to learn about?
good
WAIT so bro is literally designing and creating horror games, but I can’t get him to watch Smile 2?!?!
Smile 2 is too SCARY
You deserve more subscribers
Thanks!! If only the TH-cam algorithm agreed with you..
Bro is quite literally underrated
the creativity is next level 💯
Bro how am i just finding these bangers holy
Ive found the secret YT channel. My life is complete
What platform did you make this in? I would love to do something like this!
I made this using Unity! And you should start making something! It’s tons of fun.
Man is so underrated
Noice
lol this is the stupidest idea you have ever made
Hahaha believe me I have much dumber game ideas coming up soon
@@spikely. I'd like not to believe you but your probably saying the truth
cool^_^
he krinkles every time he eats it....
there cant be anything more scary then pouring the milk before cereal
Exactly.. I almost added a jumpscare as a punishment if a player tried to
Good Tutorail but where is the stalking part where the ai stalks the player?
Criminally underrated
Could you do a tutorial on how to kind of create the jester?
Yep I sure can! I’m currently finishing up a horror game for a game jam but will work on a Jester tutorial afterwards
@@spikely. Thanks!
hey, when i try to drag the state scripts in it says "Can't add script behaviour 'BrackenInterestedState'. The script needs to derive from MonoBehaviour!"
No need to drag the scripts within Unity. We create instances of each of the state scripts inside the Start function of Bracken.cs - that way we get around having to manually drag each script onto the gameobject. Edit: See 3:10
What about the FSM scripts?
@@DonaKebabb yep, same with the FSM scripts. Any of the scripts that don’t inherit Monobehavior you don’t have to drag in Unity
this is so helpful! i dont actually code in unity (yet), but I just rly wanted to know how it worked
No problem! Do you code using Godot or another tool? Unity is good - but I feel like everybody is migrating to Godot lately.
Thank you so much man, I really appreciate your tutorial. I was waiting for this tutorial
Glad I could help! Keep a look out for part 2 as well!
@@spikely. I will
so uhhh my coilhead is acting like a bracken and my bracken is now a coilhead, sometimes they switch or just both attack me
Did you use the full Bracken project from GitHub? The code on my GitHub includes his other 3 states so that may be why he seems to be acting weird to you.
@@spikely. I’ll try it
Actually I wouldn’t recommend using the full project just yet. I would first debug a little further. If both the coilhead and Bracken are in the scene together, I would take out the coilhead and all walls - and see if the Bracken patrols correctly. If you are too close to the Bracken, he’ll enter the Interested state - which we haven’t implemented yet. So you’ll likely get an error or he’ll act weird when that happens. I’m editing part two now which includes the rest of his states and it’ll likely fix your issues once I finish it.
@@spikely. I swear to good ur the best man
awesome shit for cool guys spotted
Thanks, cool guy!
Wow awesome tutorial! Thanks yt recommendation
Glad you liked it!
i downloaded the ai pathfinding thing but cant find the scripts i need such as the pathfinder Edit: I also have and error for "Bounds" does not get a definition of getcorners or something
I think the component is actually called Pathfinding not Pathfinder. I may have misspoke. The error for Bounds not having getCorners is because you have to create a new script called BoundsExtensions. See the timestamp at 8:36 Also you can just copy the script from my GitHub: github.com/spikelyDev/coilhead-tutorial/blob/main/Assets/Scripts/Extensions/BoundsExtensions.cs
@@spikely. Thanks you this fixed everything
@@spikely. Could you also make another part to this with patrolling, killing the player, sound and/or animation? i recently started coding and cant find any tutorials for this and i really want to make a game like lethal company
Yep I can definitely do a part two for you!
@@spikely. thank you so much
Can you code the bracken please
Sure! The Bracken is very similar to the Coilhead code-wise. The main difference is in the Update function and how the Bracken reacts when players are looking and not looking at him. If a player is looking at the Bracken for too long , set that player as the target and attack him. If a player looks at him for just the right amount of time, the Bracken should get shy and quickly scurry away. Essentially you want to create behavior for each of the Bracken’s states (ex. Wandering, aggressive, scared) and switch between those states depending on how the players react to him as explained above. Hopefully this is enough information to lead you in the right direction. If not then I can do a quick video on it. And thanks for watching and commenting!
@@spikely. You just got a new subscriber! You explained it very well but I'll be happy if you make a video for it if you don't mind. because I'm a newbie programer and most of the time my scripts have several warnings or they're just too messed up, when I'm not following any tutorials
Thanks so much! I will definitely make a video on it soon then. And don’t worry about being a newbie. Everybody starts somewhere - no shame in watching tutorials to figure out how things are done! I still look up things all the time!
Part one for coding the Bracken just uploaded! th-cam.com/video/68hqUd8Ybvo/w-d-xo.html

I also participated in this jam, and it was a really fun challenge. There's a simple charm about 1-bit pixel art that I just love. It's very cozy! Really nice work on this, by the way! This was definitely one of my favorite entries from the jam, and I look forward to seeing what you'll do in the future!

@@grimreaperking thanks, grim 🔥
Love the game and BTS video. Better make more.
@@novahdan9892 Thanks so much! The next video may also be a horror game so stay tuned
Great game, btw do you always work on retro style games?
Thanks! Yeah, recently I’ve mostly being doing retro projects, and focusing more on horror. But I’m always open to game ideas and suggestions!
👏👏👏
Any new idea like subway surfs
Fun video, even with the misleading title. I was coming to see what SDK I needed to make a real 3310 application :)
This deserves 1 million views. Underrated.
Thank you!! Maybe some day
the sounds gave me nostalgia zoomies. I was kinda hoping you were hacking the code into an actual nokia, like so many coding youtubers do nowadays with gameboy and other old hardware. But the concept fits right in with the style, I dig it
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, I wish I knew how to actually load this on a physical Nokia. That would be awesome.
amazing!!
Thanks!!
With java Mobil?
I used Unity, but the game does run on mobile as well
the result turn out great! good luck with your channel
Thanks!! I’m hoping to step it up in my editing and voice inflection for my next video.
incredibly underrated, nice work!
Thanks so much! This was my first time editing and creating a video like this. There’s definitely a lot I still need to work on, but it was a fun process
👏👏👏
