Bean Threshing with the Donkeys
มุมมอง 2.3Kปีที่แล้ว
Threshing my Jacob's Cattle beans with the donkey powered sweep. The actual threshing is being done with a Massey-Harris rethresher drum, which I got from an old combine. Cassie and Sebastian have really figured out the sweep! I'm so proud of them for trusting me and being such good workers. Too bad the bean harvest was so pitiful, we were done in ten minutes.
Making Apple Cider with Miniature Donkeys
มุมมอง 1.3K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This is how I made apple cider on the farm this year. I'm still working on the scratter and the press, but I'm happy with the results so far. The scratter runs well without too many jams, but I wish it would mash the apples more thoroughly. The donkeys did a great job powering the operation, and the apple cider tastes amazing! #homesteading #applecider #miniaturedonkeys #wisconsin

Iceboating on Little Cedar Lake
มุมมอง 2202 ปีที่แล้ว
Dad & I goofing off on his old DN iceboat, March 9, 2022. Winds were 13-20 according to the airport, and the gusts were a little scary. So we had good rides but neither one of us really ever went for full power. We both easily got to 30 mph runs as per GPS, and I bumped it up to 34.9 mph on one run. It felt great to get out, because most of the time the conditions don't cooperate.

Donkey Powered Sweep
มุมมอง 3.4K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a basic description of my donkey-powered sweep, which I'm using to power a corn sheller and thresher. This is not a final version there are some weak spots in the design that need improvement. However, several people have asked me about the details, so I'm sharing this now. Good luck with your project!

Why do you have mules, sir?
You could have done that with one mule!😊

Very good. Thank you 😊
I live in the middle of the city but was lucky to get a double lot. Want to use some of the grass in my side yard to turn to hay for my voracious guinea pigs.thank you for the video.
You are Absolutely Amazing
Wow
Awesome
AWESOME
👍
I live on irish West Coast obviously very wet. Would hay keep like this in such a climate ?
Love those donkeys at work. I'll bet training them was a lot of effort.
Now thats cool!
Dont stop making videos.
I ❤, they didn't break a sweat.
Voilà le raisonnable et l'intelligence pour le respect de la nature face à la destruction matérialite d'un monde débilité ❤👍
Wow so happy I found you. so articulate and clear!
Great video
How do you keep that hay stack dry!? It will still get rained on and you need it for winter. I'm in upstate NY so same weather as Wisconsin I'm on 6.25 Pastured acres
In other replies he said he leaves it outside and not covered by a tarp or anything. He Said the top gets weathered and the animals don’t like that part as much, but they eat all of it.
What is the name of that tool you used to cut your hay!? Couldn't make out what you said. And where can I find one of those ? My small tractor cuts grass only and cuts it too short even at highest level
A Scythe
Scythe Supply or Scythe Works. (On line).
Thanks for sharing awesome video 🎉
That’s cool!
Those donkies farting is killing the enviroment, save the planet switch to Steam powered robots or windmill powered plows.
Qué maravilla precioso 👏👏❤️
Together with this music, it was a rest from the evil and disaster surrounding us. Thank you for this precious moment.
Thank you!
@JasJul10 Do you have more info on the re-thresher? I did an online search for "Massey Ferguson ReThresher" but I'm not finding much yet.
Very neat. Great info.
Very cool. What well behaved donkeys. Looks like well designed harness and plow too. Must have been a fun day.
Bravooooo sănătate maximă și succese în viața de toate zilele.
Ual 🎉🎉🎉
Very nice rayding donkey vedewo
makes me smile
how im tryna be
Very good!
I'm sure you've figured it out by now, but just an idea. We had a dump truck with bad axle seals, we actually used corn head grease in the differential for at least a decade prior to redoing the seals. I'm sure at as low an RPM as this operates, it will last even longer with no issues
Excellent video....I will visit your blog for the plow design. Did you ever do a video on the plow construction?
I love that it took longer to harness and hook up the donkeys than it actually did to thresh the beans. lol! I have been researching miniature draft animals, started with Dexter oxen, then moved into miniature horses for plowing, then found your little donkeys. Definitely leaning towards the donkeys! I must now research more donkey-powered things!
What city?
This is Racine, Wisconsin
I have tried the Java it reminds me of Einkorn, it mills easy, and make s a good bread, thank you for making it available for a very reasonable price
That's interesting to hear, I feel the same way. It's a very old, proto-bread wheat I think.
Thank for this video very informative
When i was young i was doing the same with my father
am i the only one thinking to turn this into a generator.
this is human wisdom. but in my country the wisdom didnt spread.
I love Donkey!
Beautiful video! Where do you get the tack for your miniature 🫏s? Is it adapted from larger breeds or homemade?
Just found your channel in the TH-cam algorithmic maze and am so grateful to see what you are doing with small scale non industrial farming. Thank you for the inspiration and entertainment.
Thank you!
Didn't know red fife was a Canadian discovery, Thanks for making this great video!
