I got a species only tank of apistogramma agassizii double red and I'm still waiting! Got spot on water parameters, frequent water changes, leaf litter, good food, two sizes of clay caves..... dunno what I could be doing wrong. The pair is bonded! Two other females didn't make the cut with these two and they bullied them until I had to take them out....

The tank doesn't need to be any different. All you have to do is remove the styrofoam cup and mom to a calmer set-up once they're done. If they(the parents) felt they were in less than ideal conditions they wouldn't have spawned in the first place. No disrespect intended, just adding my 2 cents. Great job, catching them on cam', by the way. Beautiful cacatuoides! Man, they are both gorgeous!!!

It's amazing! My apistos takes to spawning only ceramic tubes or small amphoras, very rarely - black plastic tubes. But white plastic - it's unreal! :)))))))

Tank is overcrowded I think. I saw at least 5 cichlids. Thats too much for such a small tank. Especially when they're having fry. On top of that the tank lacs structure. Not enough sections for the fish to have sepparate territories.

Beautiful fish, awesome video! I've never seen my male balloon mollies display this behavior, but then again they aren't nearly as nimble and agile as this sailfin-- I did have one that would always do little tricks with his gonodopodium, like making it go up and down or spinning it around in circles, just before mating. It was pretty funny.

Haha, thanks. I don't keep mollies anymore. I don't have much success with them, unfortunately. I keep all other common livebearers, kribs, zebra danios, bettas, cory cats, and bristlenoses. I keep my lights on 12 hours a day now, because I have live plants.

Mollies eat algae - so the lights grow algae faster... but unless you're not producing any - I'd leave the lights off for atleast 12 hours a day to protect against an algae bloom

I got a horrible case of ich, wiped out my male guppies. Broke my heart. I just bought potbelly mollies hoping they'll be a sturdier fish. I can't stand to go through the devastation of another mass tank loss.

urm thats nice but not really they dont do much i hardly ever noticed they were there it is sad but not like mournin and cryin sayin 'my fish died ' well i dont know i never got attached to um i just sed to mum when i was little ''hey mum'' '' wat'' '' the fish died'' ''oh'' i got attached to my hamster he hasnt died yet and hes 4 yrs old which is good they normally only live to 5

Wow. That balloon molly is very pregnant. Did she have babies after this video? Also, do you leave your tank lights on all day? I'm leaving my aquarium lights on all day now because apparently it benefits mollies. Is this true?

maybe, they also kind of new to the tank, maybe they need some time to get used to it. :)
