Just use the dewalt shroud. Then there’s no need to remove any of the springs, or the lever.

Thank you VERY much for these tips. I was able to fit a 5” DasTool shroud DT1701-125D to a DeWALT DCG416 by just removing the guard release lever and spring.

Thank you so much for this, it was was exactly what I needed to know, having just bought a dewalt grinder and finding my existing shroud didn't fit, was worried that if I took that screw out the spring would fly off. Now see up perfectly. 👍

Hi Bradley. I would suggest reaching out to the retailer that you purchased from. They should be able to support you with anything that you may need.
The Harber fleight universal shroud does not work on this style DeWalt - the clamp/adapter won't hold even if you take the factory shroud latch and wave spring off - don't buy the HF unit
Still can’t get the shroud to install because of that spring loaded latch mount is protruding in the way
Hello, the video does explain how to remove the latch mounts. Once removed, the ring will only fit one way up in order to prevent the latch mount fouling on the ring. Please feel free to contact us if you need any further help.

Looks good but if one hand is on the shroud and the connection to the grinder comes loose that could be problematic. I've got a Bosch grinder, so how is this better than the Bosch one for under £40 that also comes with a depth gauge (not sure about that without getting one). Best do a head to head review. Would you send me one of yours to do a head to head trial? (I'll buy the Bosch)
Wondering if some secondary fixing e.g shaped plastic piece and cable ties might be a good idea. You could then put the handle back on the grinder and or use your other hand to control things.
P.S. I've also a safety warning about mortar grinding disks it would be good to include.
