This was looking to be exactly what I wanted, particularly the second method, until Alan said in reference to Google Maps, “Over here in the top left we have a menu symbol,” and of course, there is a menu. But my menu lineup was different from what the demonstration showed. Alan selected ‘Your places’ but that didn’t exist on my menu. Google has changed the few steps that take you up to where he shows the ‘CREATE MAP’ link. But don’t despair. There is a solution. Here’s what I did. It took ages to find it. Open a browser (I used Firefox - I don’t know if it makes any difference) and start Google. I had signed into Google before I started. Now, search for My Google Maps. I’d never heard of this despite me using Google Maps for years. When it opens you’ll get the option to create a new map or use an existing one. When you click on it you’ll end up at exactly at the spot where Alan was when he clicked on Create Map. All the rest is the same. Thanks Alan. It makes Google Earth all the more useful.

I have been using Google Earth Pro for a long time but I didn't know how to use Googgle maps to get .kml file for more accurate coordinates that I need for my app. Thank you very much.

I put a wide red line where the property line is and opened it in google earth. When I zoom in the line disappears. Any suggestions?

Im sure that for a small fee Alan would be glad to go out and show you exactly how this is done. But dont hold your breath while your waiting. lol Meanwhile there are people out there known as surveyors, who make a living locating property lines.

Made my day with the second method.. Many thanks. Now if only I can figure out how to import My Places into the the new browser version of Google Earth Pro and how to overlay an image onto a site..

Thats not accurate. You must based it on the technical description from your land title. Or any approved plan.

Everyone, please know that these are not property boundaries, and certainly not accurate. They're only approximate depictions of your property, and nothing else. And as others have mentioned, there could be a shift between GE and on the ground locations using your GPS or phone.

There are no lines when I zoom in. Even when I go to the city and zoom in. Is there something I’m missing?

Your video is great.... It Will help me big time however I don’t get the light gray lines for the property boundaries..... Is there some kind of setting that needs to be turned on or is it just not provided by the County?

Under your places I don't see the map section

Very cool. However, please don't build a structure predicated on a google map. They are not accurate enough for that. There is a 30' discrepancy on my 5-acre property.

But how can you map in the google earth the exact bearing (technical description)of the sketch map of the land title?

yeah, i got it to work though it didn't open automatically. i set chrome browser to open the file and it didn't open google earth as in this video, but when i checked your places , clicked maps, then re-opened the saved map and set it to satellite view. being able to tilt in and rotate it is wonderful feature, thanks for this helpful video.

What do you have to do to get google maps to show property boundaries. Not doing it for me.
