I've been a gamer for close to four decades, and Outward is definitely one of my favorite games of all time. I eagerly watched its development and have been playing this lovely game (and its two excellent DLCs) since the initial release on PC. My playtime so far, according to Steam, is 1756 hours; which I suppose is enough of an endorsement of the game haha. Thanks for the video!

Great review. Btw this Wanda lady you mentioned doubting the reality of woman being hardcore socialist and resistance fighter is actually based on real person - Wanda Krahelska. This girl was socialist resistance fighter, she attempted to assassinate Russian governor of Warsaw by throwing dynamite sticks at his coach together with other girl and 40 years later during WW2 she was hiding Jews from Germans. Yeah, majority of resistance fighters were male but women participation in the movement was real, not some sort of todays woke propaganda

For anyone that wants to get into this game but is turned off by the timed quests *this also annoyed me and was almost a deal breaker until i found out the advice i am about to give you all* ** Very Minor Spoiler Shield ** There are 2 times in the game where you are given a grace period where you can explore and enjoy the game with as far as i am aware no threat of time related shenanigans. Looking to the Future is the first quest that is not timed ... this happens after you fix your blood price which is the first quest in the game, by not completing this quest you can explore *as far as i am aware* till your hearts content, get a good feel for the game, some kind of economy and a bare bones build that will let you finish the next few timed quests. If this still turns you off, the wiki has a list of EVERY quest in the game, in order with all the timed related quests so you can tick them off. That said the time periods are not the worst, i believe 50 to 100 in game days so don't panic Tootoo much.

Refunded , lacs a good feel, refunded it in 2 hours, the jank is too noticeable and annoying.

The wardens are in small numbers as it is, if word got out that people die because if the joining, they would even find less volunteers. If you survived the joining why would you reveal the secret to the public? If ur dead ur just dead. It does make sense in my opinion..

In Underrail it can become very easy to kill all Enemies, but you need to know the Enemy. Lets take the Mutants as a example here as well. Ok there are 2 Groups of them, the ones with Weapons wich are easier, a Nade here and there with a Antibulletsvest and its done. The harder part are the Acid Mutants, but thats what they are, Acid based Enemies. So when you change your Armor to protect against that and make some Boots on top, it beomes a lot easier than just counting on your Build alone.

Bioware need to watch this video. study it .and do a deep deep introspection to understand why they were good. really really good video. please keep up the good work.

I thought IWD2 was so so gorgeous. The icy, beautiful bleakness of the Spine of the World. The moan of the wind, the melancholic creak of timber. The muting snow blanketing the palisades and sundry trappings of war. The gruff and stoic bevy of characters, the hardened floatsam of Faerun pushed, or rather drawn to its cruel northern fringe. All of this lent color by the vivid and even violent streak of magic that pulsed through the game - both in the spells themselves and the wondrous sense of adventure that it drew out of this child playing it. I was enraptured. It was more than a game world it was a masterpiece of art that stretched before you on a canvas so large and alluring you wanted to get lost in it and explore every stitch.

My thoughts on the progression system in dd2 is that, it's less of "you're getting stronger for free" and more "you're unlocking your intended potential by trying and failing while handicapped". It really feels like a lot of characters outside of the initial 4, are nearly useless without progressing their story line, unlocking new skills and then unlocking all the paths for their skill augmentation. I suppose this could be subjective but just as one example, leper feels best to be as a poet. And you don't have him, or that upgrade path for quite a few runs into the game. So not so much getting "stronger" but getting to a point where your comp is actually competent.

I bought the one copy for my Steam Deck, I hope I will have time to play it.

Funny , I was just about to start this Game

Not sure if it was intentional or not, but I found it very appropriate that in a review of outward where one of the prominent themes is that having to work and put effort into something makes the journey more meaningful, you made a review where the first 10 minutes don't mention the game at all

Since the DE came out, im still playing it today on Xbox Series X.. never left lol

I decided. In the start of my next playthrough I'll kill the hyenas with only push kick skill. Because dagger slash would be too op against them and using any of the normal weapons available for you on the beach is just too plain to be a challenge. Is a cool video, but Outward has great story and lore imo, and we do have access to the source for the details of what our grandma did as soon as we leave our house after the shipwreck. But ye love the general vibe of your approach to making the video ❤

It’s beautiful. Well worth the wait! Although I would have enjoyed to hear some more of your insights on the game and its mechanics. Nonetheless my I liked it a lot, and I think this might be the best video on Outward on the platform!

Outward is easily one of the best games ever made. Remarkably underrated.

Outward is a definition of an underrated hidden gem. I've played the heck out of it and I'm looking forward to Outward 2. I've heard it was in the works. Edit: forgot to add - Outward has one of the best magic systems in RPGs, ever, and I've played a bunch of them, trust me. It requires sacrifice, it is very involved, sometimes expensive, but very powerful and varied.

You rekindled in me that desire to try Outward again, after falling in love at first then bash my controller some hours later after a big setback. This game is truly a diamond in the rough

Do continue. I've always been interested in Outward. But I've also been hesitant because I am a (save)scum of the earth and this game does not allow it. Punishment for fucking up seems pretty harsh in Outward too. But I also love cheese solution to problems in games and Outward seem to encourage it. Also, the locations and world seem very interesting. As well as the build variety. And the music is very atmosoheric. I hope I have it in me to embark on this adventure one day.

What do you mean a ""for the right player"? Outward is top tier, period. I loved that you have to enjoy the game *deliberately* because defeats are a massive set back, you need to pay attention to the landmarks (and thus appreciate the landscape more), and the distance needed to either do quests, or just unlock your class means you have to plan things. There's some survival mechanics like food, exhaustion and sleep, and I loved it, but I wish it had a little more of that so I can play the game forever and just relax innawoods. Speaking of exhaustion, I should play the game someday again and run an insomnia mage that grows more powerful the less sleep I get.

The only thing you mentioned that might make me unworthy of this game is the saving. I don't mind not being able to save scum, nor to save before I try something risky, but I tend to get interrupted when gaming, and I would like to have the freedom to save, deal with any real life interruptions and pick up the game where I left off. I find most any game annoying if it doesn't allow for me to leave when I need to.

Yeah, pretty easy to get caught in the grind in this game and continue to be a happy little murder hobo just living and exploring the world.

I really enjoy that losing is part of the gameplay. I play it hardcore mod and the stress I get knowing I have few chance in "losing" that my save can be deleted make the game and all its mecanics feel just so great. It's trully an important/step game for rpg's

I wasn't surprised by the identity of player's character. It was too obvious since visions and cutscenes and some dialogues pointed to this on Taris and Dantooine. One funny thing is that in polish language verbs are different for each gender, so intro can spoil entire "plot twist" at the very beginning of the game. Polish language is funny. We have a meme. How you say "nonbinary" in polish? It depends on a gender. If it"s male, then "niebinarny", if it's female, then "niebinarna".

The 2nd edition DnD system makes it a much harder game to learn the basics of, but it's easily done with a little wiki and explanation video. BG1 and 2 are brilliant works of gaming art.
