    I just tried to lay down the poly primer with foam and nylon roller covers, and it failed miserably. I ended up using a brush, but it didn't lay down at all. I followed the instructions thinned at 5% to no avail.

    Says 200 square feet coverage per can of polyurethane. Thats 14'×14' square. Have my doubts if it took a can to do that little dingy. Probably only 6'×6'

    If I buy your paints, I don't want to be locked into having to buy your high priced mystery cleaner/ solvent as well. I would like the choice of buying a generic cleaner such as Mineral spirits, Acetone, Xylene, etc. Hiding the chemicals in your proprietary cleaner only makes me mad as hell. This is a form of extortion that will steer me right away from all your products. Its a pity because your products are excellent. But I will NOT BE HELD HOSTAGE TO A GODDAMN SOLVENT!

    there is no way that is really epafanes paint they are using in that video i just tried epifanes paint on my boat and ill never use it again it wont cover it runs the only way its usable is if u do layers so thin that u can see through them and do at least four coats of primer and four coat of paint i would never recomend this product to anyone

  • @aquious953
    @aquious953 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    For a paint that cost $130.00 per 750ml can (in Canada) it would be nice for a more detailed video on thinning to specific temp, coverage for different sized boats, etc.

    Can I use a two component epoxy filler in between the sanding and the final finish coat? I have some little pits and scratches that didn’t get filled with paint, I want to fill them after sanding the primer coat.

  • @sirlandsalot

    it says on the can that this product is not for below the water line? why are you painting below the waterline?

    • @Frank7748124
      @Frank7748124 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because a dinghy does not live in the water. It is only below the waterline for brief periods; which is okay for this application.

    I'm interested in this for a small carbonfiber hull. Can you get glass like finishes with wet sanding and buffing after two coats of color?

  • @labrat3687
    @labrat3687 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi I'm using epifanes yacht enamel thinned at 10% but I'm still getting orange peel, but I desire a glass finish, it's 14°C, here in the UK... Would adding a little easy flow help to reduce flash time, I'm finding it flashes in seconds almost instantly, thinned at 5% it left a lot of holidays curtains and orange peel. I'm only using epifanes products and working very quickly. I also used a test board and found 10% to be the optimum result. Anymore and the blue colour starts becoming translucent and wants to curtain on me. I found if I apply too thinly the flash time is even faster. I'd like improve and be able to apply glass like coatings to both my own and other people's boats... (with dreams of becoming an epifanes sponsored pro) Any tips for getting that last coat to flow out like glass when using alkyd yacht enamel?

    how is the poly urethane strength wise compared to the epifanes mon urethane? I have my boat in the epifanes mono urethane for a number of years now, but it can scratch pretty easy in my opinion. It also developed some cracks in the paint now after i think 5 years of it being on. So i was thinking maybe the poly urethane wil stay on longer? It is a steel boat, so i want the paint to cover it as good as it can because i dont want rust on it.

    What is the mixing ratio for spraying and is the thinning for spraying needed? Also what tip do you recommend a 1.4 or 1.2? If you can let me know just ordered a few gallons of paint from you guys and plan on putting it on the boat soon. Also will a normal paint suit/ cap and respirator be good enough or do I need to use a positive pressure unit like imron?

    Never use bare cardboard for mixing. The surface will soak up components from either component and therefore corrupt your mixture. Put some masking tape on the cardboard first.

    • @crunchycrispybacon
      @crunchycrispybacon 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      bullshit, it doens't absorb enough to make any noticeable difference. The mixture doesn't need to be perfect down to the last atom.
