    SRK stands for Search and rescue. Not survival. This was caused by sellers saying it is a survival knife. It is not!

    No no no, you see the tip is designed to break off when hitting a bone, so it would cause more damage inside your opponent as he moves his body.

    That's an all-round awesome knife for sure. But one thing that is deterring me from buying it it's actually the sheath. I've read somewhere that it can slowly dull the blade. Any thoughts on that?

    • @KnifeySurvivalist
      @KnifeySurvivalist 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've had mine for about 2,5 years now, and I have not noticed any dulling whatsoever from the sheath, and I used it for plenty of camp stuff and also playing/practicing deployment speed woth it haha, and no dulling from the sheath that I've noticed. So maybe it's about how one carries it, I carry mine sideways on the front of the belt, sort of appendix carry. I hope that helps!

    Next option, is the sheath. CS sheaths are notorious for dulling edges quickly. Schrade is a sleeper knife IMO. You typically don't stab logs with a push dagger, rather soft tissue.

I needed a long time to tolerate the miss. If You are allowed to use it as EDC go on ! It is the best knife You can get, secure in use for allday cutting jobs and perfect to wear secretely. I still miss it up to today. 😉

    I did a video a while back on the SRK. A lot of people didn’t like it whereas others agreed. It’s look and feel is fabulous and if all one was ever going to do was slice or pierce, great! I absolutely do not like the handle construction, and I stand by that. It is too easy to loosen as far as survival is concerned. Since a great majority of us are not navy seals. It’s going to be used in the bush and out in the field. I don’t even need a knife to be full tang, but I don’t think this is as strong as others that have a rat tail tang. Don’t get me wrong I like it, but there are much stronger options around the same price

      I saw that video you made, and I think you had some great points there! Thank you for watching and commenting on this one, I've been following you for quite some time, and I always watch your videos before getting a knife. Giving the handle a curve at the bottom would get in the way of knife grip changes in knife fighting. It would cease to be a good fighting knife. Use a lanyard for chopping. Learn how to set up and use a lanyard properly. Most people do it wrong.

  • @1x1_southcoast83
    @1x1_southcoast83 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    See that little hole in the handle? That’s for a lanyard. Use a lanyard and it won’t slip out of your hand when using that chopping action you’ve described.

    You can simply put a short length of paracord through the lanyard hole to improve retention when chopping.

    Who chokes back on a belt knife without a lanyard? Only issue I’ve ever had is that the sheath can sometimes contact the blade edge dulling the blade. Just have to be mindful when withdrawing or re-sheathing the knife.

    So not fitting your hand is the big deal breaker? When chopping. 🤔🧐😏 Try holding it properly and don't attack trees with it. It's actual purpose is a tactical stealth knife. Stabbing and slicing flesh.

    When you used the edge of your "Kukri" to strike your ferro rod. Now you have to resharpen it. Since you have a KLO. Go ahead and square up part of the spine, nearest the handle. With a real Khukuri, you cannot do this, due to the differential heat treating. But then again, my Ferro rod comes with a striker and a case.

    • @KnifeySurvivalist
      @KnifeySurvivalist 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I will try that next time I’m out with the “Kukri-like object” 😄 The spine of this one is a little bit rounded, but I will maybe sharpen it to 90degrees first

  • @longrider42
    @longrider42 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Okay, I see the first problem with your "Kukri" its too light. So your wasting energy by having to use your body to power the blade. The Khukuri I have sitting next to me is heavy by the standards of some. But, all I have to do is guide it to where I want it to hit. Also, in a survival situation, find wood you can break easily, or make a fire and stick one end of the log in and keep pushing it in as it burns. Yes, I used to teach Wilderness Survival back in the 80's. The only thing that has changed, is some of the gear. I will be doing a three part series on the 7 C's of Survival on my YT channel soon.

  • @longrider42
    @longrider42 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    CRKT is a pretty decent company. But if the Khukuri is not made in Nepal. I and many others who own real Nepalese Khukuri's, and I keep one next to my computer. It is a Khukuri Like Object. Now I'm not saying its not a good KLO, but thats just my two cents worth.

    Add a short lanyard to the handle, insert last two fingers into the yanyard and chop. It secures the knife in your grip quite well. Works for me.
