I REFUSE to act my age! This channel is about an old, tired, wore out auto mechanic that is now retired. Instead of working most of the time, I now only have to work about half the time. The other half of the time I play. See the playlist for some of the stuff I do. So many interests, so little time. Beware of stinkin thinkin. It will wear you down.
V169 One more leak
It took long enough but I'm pretty sure there are no more leaks. It has been in a few good rains and so far it's stayed dry.
This is a 1975 TEC motorhome. The model is LARK. It is build on a 1975 Ford E350 Camper Special chassis. It has a 460 CID engine and a C6 transmission. It is a pre-emissions vehicle.
It's 21 feet, bumper to bumper. I bought it in Sept 1991 and used it occasionally for about 9 years. It's been setting for the last 20 years. Now that I'm retired, I think I'd like to have a small motorhome to mess around with. I will not be restoring this to pristine showroom condition nor will I be going ultra modern. I only want it to be useable and reliable. Mostly for my fishing and metal detecting trips. Basically a cabin on wheels.

I saw a Monarch Butterfly a few days ago. That means it's time to help mother nature. Clean and setup the enclosure. Find and relocate newly hatched caterpillers to a safer place. Keep them well feed. Watch them grow. All to watch them fly away.
V166 Metal Detecting Land & Creek

It's gotten a little to hot to metal detect on land lately. So the Whites Spectra V3i gets a rest and the Garrett AT Max gets wet. Air temperature in the sun is 95*. Water temperature is a cool 75*. A great way to spend a stinken hot muggy afternoon.
V165 Troy Built Tuffy Tiller gets Harbor Freight Engine

I bought this tiller in 93. The engine has always been a problem. This year was the worst. I managed to keep it going long enough to till the lower half of the garden. The next day, it would not start. Hardly any compression. I started looking for a parts source and could not find one. Looking for another engine and Harbor Freight shows up. Predator Engines 79cc. So far, so good.
V164 Fix Snapon Tool Box KR1000A

The detents that keep the drawers closed on this tool box wear out easy and need to be replaced often. Last time I used the gray stiff ones. They made the drawers hard to open but didn't last any longer than the ones I went back to using. Part # 8-88SWRK (Black color). I still need to do something about the bottom drawer not staying closed.

I've been looking for this water leak for a very long time. Now that I've seen it happen several times I still find it hard to believe. Water can go up hill. I used Geocel ProFlex sealant to stop it.

Carbon monoxide alert while warming up the engine a few days ago. Needs a muffler and a tailpipe. Getting a muffler was easy. A tailpipe no longer available from anybody. If you live in the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania, check with these guys. S&S Speed Shop 610 837 6721 and have one made.
V161 Exhausted 05 Ford Explorer split flange saves the day

Time to replace the muffler and tailpipe. Bought a kit from ROCKAUTO.com. It took a long time, switching back and forth between catalogs but I found a split flange for 2 1/4 pipe. Walker P# 36131and a bolt kit AP Exhaust P# 4973.
V160 Trail Cam trouble

It's a little to cool and wet to be outside so inside I stay. Not much to do except make a video which turned up 2 camera problems. Spent the rest of the day figuring that out.

High winds blew down another ash tree. This time it's across the creek acting like a dam. It needs to be removed before the next heavy rain.

Cabin fever strikes again. I should stay home and work on fire wood. Maybe tomorrow. Didn't find much but I did enjoy being out.

I still don't know if the rear window leak has been fixed. So far its only been in light rain and hosed down with a garden hose. Since it's a cool day, I ran the furnace and while I was at it I also checked the water heater and stove top. I had things to do at home so I took it home and checked it for leaks every now and then. After a few hours a small leak showed up.

Great video! Any insights on how safe this device is in hot summers ? I'm a bit concerned about the lithium ion battery catching fire in extreme temperatures ?
If you don't trust lithium ion don't use them. I'm using Duracell Alkaline.

It's not a wolf spider, it's a fishing spider, which is a type of nursery web spider. Nursery web spiders are hunting spiders and they only build a web to house their young, hence the web full of baby spiders that you're looking at. Wolf spiders carry their babies on their back.

It's a fishing spider, which is a nursery web spider. They are hunting spiders that only build a web to house their babies. Wolf spiders carry their babies on their backs. These types of fishing spiders are typically larger than most wolf spiders, they're one of the largest true spiders in North America.

They might be a indoor and outdoor cat, some older cats likely love a bit of fresh air but not adventuring very far from home, it all depends upon the cat personalty, a cat who use to live two doors down from me, had a wide area of wondering, while his brother always tended to stay close to home!

There is a company in Oregon, Centerville Electronics that has some still. They have a website. Selling at $13. I don’t see any reason that you couldn’t make this work with a few local off the shelf items. .
