(grackles) - Grackle the Grackle

Grackles look like they were supposed to be corvids, but switched to being songbirds at the last minute.

Living in California, I have Great-tailed Grackles and Brewer's Blackbirds. I've seen Common Grackles when traveling around the country. That and seeing them in this video remind me more of the Brewer's Blackbird than the Great-tailed Grackle.

But why they look like a water balloon filling up with angst right before their call? 🤔🧐😆

The way they keep looking up to the sky, in addition to how they sound like that... It's like they're trying to contact the mothership er something lol

these are not songbirds they emit alien sounding like digital frequency dial up modem. This is first year I am seeing them in my yard. I think they are scouting here because they noticed pigeons nesting in nearby hedges very early in the Spring. These grackles are highly resourceful and they figure if the pigeons are there then there must be the promise of a food source. they have driven away the pigeons which is good because I can't stand the sound they make either. I don't like them at all..at all.

And they wonder why they didn't get the Budweiser contract...

We have a ton of grackles in Austin, TX and these grackles sound completely different. Pretty cool.

Sometimes when they start puffing up to squeak, it's like they didn't sign up for it. They drop everything to continue the domino chain. Squa-geek

Where I’m from people call these crows and I always correct them and say they’re Grackles and they remind me of spring 😊

When they fluff up, it reminds me of Shrek when Fiona was singing and the bird exploded.

Forgive me for being off topic, but why is the ground covered in spaghetti noodles? I can understand why there's corn, but why the spaghetti? Aren't those bad for birds? Beautiful footage, by the way. Lovely birds with very interesting calls.
