2024 Husqvarna TE 300 | A Beta rider's review
In this review, I trade bike’s with Skip and give an in-ride review of the 2024 Husqvarna TE 300. This is my 15-minute on-the-trail impression of the Husky, comparing its handling, suspension, power delivery, and overall ride experience to the Beta. I’ll highlight what makes the TE 300 unique and answer the ultimate question: should you buy it, or is it a skip?
Whether you’re shopping for a new dirt bike or curious about how these enduro machines stack up, this review has the insights you need! Stick around for side-by-side action and my final verdict.

The Beta has always been the KTM killer. I got 2016 300 race after riding my father in laws 2011 520 RR… I have 8 riding buddies that ditched their pumpkins and now riding Italian stallions after test riding my bike
That’s interesting that so many switched. Not the case with our group, I’m the only one. Maybe the new KTM and Husky closed the gap a bit. Regardless, I’m happy with the beta.
I got 215 hours on my 2024 TE 300. Runs like new. The only service item other than consumables ( tires, brake pads, air filter) is that the Crankcase Pressure sensor, a $50 part, needs replacing when performance begins to deteriorate. I’ve replaced 2 so far. Takes 15 minutes. The new gen stiffer frame and excellent open chamber fork work together to deliver less deflection, more precision. The suspension is so good that most riders will only need the correct springs for rider weight, saving a lot of money vs a revalve. Look for prices to drop significantly due to KTM’s money problems and huge inventory overstock situation. I’ve bought 8 new enduro bikes in the last ten years and this one is the best. For your sloppy trails I recommend the IRC VE 33S with Tubliss for the rear wheel. Changing the 45 tooth stock rear sprocket to a 48 makes the bike perfect in the steeps and gnar, and you don’t need a longer chain.
Well stated! The bike is a great buy and a great performer. There was a VE 33S on the rear when I was riding this bike. It’s a great tire for the trails that we ride. I do agree that could benefit from the gearing change that you recommended. Thanks for watching and for providing your feedback!
I’m on same bike, same tire, with plush nitromousse. 165 hours. Great machine, zero problems. A nice improvement from my 21 TE300i.
It's actually a closed cart fork.
Hard today with so many good choices. You really can find the nuances that best mesh with your ride style. I have the xcw and xc and did own a TE for a year, all great bikes. My xcw is stock, no mods to the motor, pipe or tune but I did turn the PV out and that made it significantly more snappy. My xc was a monster out of the box and then a map update from the dealer seem to de-nut it down low so I add the TSP head and tune and recently the TSP PV cover. This last mod was where the magic happened. It was good, then better and now it's freaking amazing with the cover. Feels very carb like. My buddy's TM (carb) is so good off the bottom coming out of corners and that was the feeling I was looking for and now have. My xc is so nimble at any rpm and absolutely rips.
That’s a great result with that tsp head. XC and xcw is a great combo. I have the beta re and a 350xcf. It’s fun to switch between the two for different types of riding. N+1. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@Weekendwarriorsmoto My xc is a '23 MY and the original tune was really good, rich enough to have good bottom end and even more up top. The second update was even better but the third was to soft on the bottom. While the TSP tune and head restored what it was under the second map the PV cover brought it all together to have a very carb like feel. Extremely playful on the trail and very tractable.
That’s awesome. I’d like to give an XC a try and those mods sound perfect. The closer to a carb feel, the better.
@@Weekendwarriorsmoto Probably time that I do a fulsome review of the bike with the mods I have now. Future video perhaps.
Another great video...thanks for the time and info! No mercy from Skip running through the mud on your Beta, lol. I could imagine you cringing, and it made my day.
Hahaha. Skip was riding my bike like a rental. Only the water crossings had me a little nervous 😀
Appreciate the efforts. Would have been nice to see these bikes on terrain they are made for. We all have to ride two track from time to time but I think this location didn't lend much to this "comparison". How many hours on the Beta and what were the other guy's impressions? Do it again but ride them in the nasty stuff. I'd be glad to tune in again. Thanks!
Take a look at our other videos there’s plenty of good single track in those videos where you can see the bikes perform and compare. For the most part all of these 300 2 strokes are nearly equivalent and most of it boils down to the rider and the rider’s preferences. Both the beta 300 race edition and the husky TE 300 Were great in the faster open track and also perform in all of the other terrain that we ride including the harder Enduro stuff. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Also take a look at the videos on our channel. There’s plenty of beta reviews from my 24 300 RR race edition, including the mods that I’ve done to it and also comparison to the XCW along with some 24XCW reviews, lots of good riding videos to show the bikes in their natural habitats. My beta has 75 hours on it now the best mod has been the suspension upgrades and I love the bike. Let me know what you think.
Don’t disagree with ya Buzz. Dons right, we do 95% of our riding on singletrack. Somehow we do random reviews and first rides at Ben Franklin. We’ll do a f/u review next time we’re out. We have a great representation of the newer bikes, so stay tuned for a side by side by side by side comparison! Thanks!

Curious of you have you ridden a regular RR? Everyone seems to want/rave about close cartridge forks, but the reality is that for most people (including myself) a well set up open cartridge setup will work better in the tighter/rougher singletrack like what you're riding in the video. I've ridden a lot of bikes in the past couple of years, and even at my fast B rider race pace, I actually find I prefer open cartridge 80%+ of the time. Yes, can't hammer over bigger hits with impunity, but the fork moves way easier and absorbs the little chop so well that I'm less tired and can ride faster for longer. Unpopular opinion, but I've ridden 3 new KTM bikes now (350, 150, and 300) and I actually don't think the new fork is anything amazing personally. It's different, and a bit more precise feeling, but riding back to back vs. my stock 23 GasGas EC300 (Xplor), I don't feel like I'm faster or more in control.
I’ve only ridden the X trainers and not the RR. I did have my race edition suspension revalved along with adding a floating mid valve in the front forks and I really love how they perform. We have many of videos on our channel comparing all of our bikes, including the mods that I’ve done to the beta. I agree with you that the RR off the showroom floor should be better suited to single track and more gnarly enduro riding. I found the stock race edition suspension as stiff for the more technical single track riding and so did the other guys in my group. We have a good mix of stock and modified bikes in our group and some 24 models so lots to compare to.
@ great to have a group like that! We have something similar, though there is a ton of orange in general 😅
@DmitriyAdv yeah, too many sheep and not enough wolves 🐺 😀
I have had my Beta since 2021 and will never go back to KTM Brands. The only other bikes I would consider would be the Sherco 300 or the nee Rieju 300, I will always keep my Beta though it is so smooth and tractors and has plenty of power with a FMF Fatty on it. Love it
Seems like lots of people feel that way about the betas. I’ve ridden the Sherco 300 and it wasn’t for me. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@ What is a code 300?
Sorry was using voice to text 😀. The Sherco 300 wasn’t to my liking.
Thanks for the review! Pros and cons to PDS vs. linkage - it depends on what you ride. I have both a KTM (PDS) and a GasGas (linkage). I like the linkage better at higher speeds, as it feels more planted and is more tolerant to bad setup and technique. At lower speeds the PDS feels a little more nimble, but the linkage feels like it provides better traction. In gnarly terrain, the PDS has more ground clearance, but I honestly don't find that my linkage gets caught on anything if I'm using a modern skid plate, and personally being able to dab (even at 5'11") is more important to me than the very rare occasion that I get stuck due to ride height.
That’s a great summary on the differences. The linkage feels better at speed or on jumps or drop offs. Nice to have the extra ground clearance of the PDS on the big rocks, but I also agree that I don’t tend to get hung up on the linkage. Thanks for watching him commenting.
It is nice to be able to put your foot down, and for my case get your damn leg over the bike. I love the ground clearance and ease of maintenance on the xcw too, but have yet to hear anyone we ride with getting stuck on a rock b/c of the linkage. 🎉
was this the trail to the trails or is this what you guys ride?
The place we were riding is called Ben Franklin range. It’s not somewhere that we normally ride and most of the trails are double track like what you saw in the video mostly we ride single track otherwise
gearing is 13 -45 unless he changed it way tall
Yeah, I wasn’t sure when riding it. Thanks!
I wouldn't throw a TE out of bed, but I prefer the feel and ride height of the XCw. Also, its time for shock service and while its out I pull the swingarm to lube the bearings. The PDS system is simpler and easier to work with.
Mike, I agree with the simplicity of the pds for maintenance. I go back and forth on the ride height. Both have advantages.
I came off a beta as well and do think the beta bottom end is more grunt. My new te 300 pro is awesome just feels electronic and different kind of powerband.awesome bike though .. at this point all new bikes are pretty damn good and what’s more important is just our rider skill . Hahahha
You’re right about that. Any of these new bikes are great and it just comes down to minor preferences and rider. I love the looks of that pro. Thanks for watching!
White map is slouch compared to green. Looks like your in white map but not sure camera does funny tricks sometimes????
Yeah, I started off by mistake in white but then switched to green. Green map is best. Thanks for watching!
You own that climb 🤙
Haha
Big bore 2 t is so versatile. Lug tight stuff, fly in the more open faster stuff. Clutch and motor are the perfect combination and are paired perfectly
I completely agree. I’ve ridden the 250cc bikes and they are quick and fun to ride but the 300s are great at everything.
Race edition blows the xcw out the water in my opinion
The Beta riders are passionate about their bikes. I love my beta RE, but I still think the XCW is top of the pack for hard Enduro out of the showroom. With some mods, the Beta is fantastic! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Adv riders are looking at that and wonder what could be the fun in that... It's a process and happy I went through it!
You’re right about that! Thanks for watching!
met yins today goy my sub in
That beta just trucks thru without any effort and darting all over. Plus traction looks better on beta
That’s one of my favorite things about the Beta. The power delivery is so linear. Thanks for watching!
A 200 might have served you well also. Although you seem to lug quite a bit. I like traction also so I get it.
I’ve ridden one but the 300 performance a little better for my riding style.
For what it’s worth, I’ve ran DP Brake pads on KTM’s and have had really good results with them. They stop great and last a long while. Good video bud👍🏻
Thanks for the info. I have EBC pads in it now and they’re great. I love the front brake on this bike. Thanks for watching!
😂😂😂😂
Thought you’d like that!
Great video coverage of our last mountain ridge ride from 4 different cameras rolling and Don putting the pieces together with his craftiness editing. Had a lot of fun with the WWM crew this season.
Thanks, JB. Much more riding to come!
I got b level
You’ll need to teach me then 🩼💀☠️🤕
That looks like it hurt
Fortunately he’s young and resilient 😀🩼 🤕
Thanks for posting, Don. Really well shot with the sun, the sky, the dust, and the wide open views of the trail with the hills behind it. This would make a great promo video for Mt. Ridge.
Thanks, Brian! When I was editing, I was already sad that we are 5 months away from another ride there.
Does Mtn Ridge close soon?
Yes it’s closed now until late April.
that deer was like a 10 pointer
Not sure but it was a big one! Thanks for watching!
Pa guy right next to the limerick power plants, how far would you say this place is? And do you need to have a pass/account or anything ? 🔥🔥🔥 would love to rip the ol 2000rm250 up there
I’m not familiar with the limerick power plants but mountain ridge is near shanksville, pa. It’s now closed for the season but they sell day passes during season. Lots of great single track but also wide trails if you like that. Thanks for watching!
After watching your video I'm going to have to go there. I belong to ICVATV which isn't that far away from where you took this video. Great video!
I’m a member of ICV too. You’ll like mountain ridge. Next season!
Cmon now 1211
Haha
This was my first year at ICV ATV and I enjoy it up there but was looking for something closer, but these prices..
@@Silverdiablo1788give it a try! We buy season passes
Looks like fun
Great trails and a fun time with the guys. Thanks for watching!
Great video! That was a great ride. Definitely have to ride with u guys again
I have the second part to finish up. It was a great ride. Hoping to see you soon for another ride.
@Weekendwarriorsmoto i haven't even gone thru mine yet. I'm slacking. I only did those 2 short ones thru my phone
I know, it takes a while.
😆🤘
😆😆
Nice Buck
Sure was. He was just standing there waiting.
That’s what she said!
😂
Nice run up Rock Hill
Thanks, JB!
Damn you Skippy!!!
Lol it's always funny if you're friend is ok afterwards..
First we asked if he was ok, then we roasted him! Thanks for watching!
“Now it’s your rock buddy” had me dying 😂
I liked when Skip said, don’t you dare!
🧡🧡🧡🤘🤘🤘🤘
Looks like you agree! Thanks for watching!
Some serious carnage going on at the ridge yesterday
Everyone was competing for short of the week! 💀🔥👀
What happened
I think the dip caught him off guard and he didn’t lighten the front end. Happens to the best of us 💀😀
Its amateur night at the Apollo.
Yep! No pros here 😉. Thanks for watching!
Hell yeah! Great video
Great run!
He made it look effortless. Smooth operator
do you have a brain or eyeballs?
That sun was bad right there! Up is up tho
Up is up! ☠️
Nice Video!! I have a MME clutch is the Altrider clutch a step up? Is it finicky? Or set and forget? Keep on ripping
I have a video on each on the channel. I’m partial to the alt rider. I like the feel better and it’s pretty simple to adjust in fairness the MME one is set it and forget it also. Thanks for watching!
