    Would have liked to had you speaking in this video instead of music because we could not put our center bar in to our frame and our frame was full or queen size adjustable but still could not put the center bar in for the full size that we wanted

    So, I have a 2022 Rav4 Prime and the only way you can heat cabin is thru front defrost! Toyota some how change the mechanics of heating the cabin, no heat pump per-say. Please let me know how to heat the cabin without using gas!!!!

    Too bad the thermometer wasn't shown for the initial temperature at 9:07am. Then we could see how many degrees it increased to get to 70.

    If you leave it plugged in while you’re heating will the charger keep up with the electric/heat pump system?

      From Toyota: YES! "You can use the steering buttons to program the "Charging Schedule" so that the car will be heated while plugged in just before you are ready to "Depart." If you have an XSE, you can do this from the Toyota App."

    If I didn't have a garage, I wouldn't own an EV. An ICE car would have been warmed up and on its way, before you unplugged your EV charge cable.

    Why is there a gap on each side of the bed. That much of a gap. So I'm wondering is there a way you going to fix that and I noticed a dimensions or under 60 * 80 let that metal bed frame so do you think you're better off with a Bunkie board that's on there right with that wooden queen size bed.

    I'm in the Chicago area and Have a 2021 RAV4 prime. I try to use the heat as little as possible in cold weather; afterall I bought this car to conserve energy. I had VW beetles and Type 2's for most of my adult life, so i'm used to having a cold car, and dress warm.

      Yes, it helps to have tools and a shop.

      @@andyseclecticdiyshop2081 I expect no more than 1% of the American population has a metal lathe, probably much less. Normal wage slaves like myself would use a grinder of some variety and maybe finish it off with a file or a sanding process, if we're feeling fancy.

      @@ProleDaddy I was thinking about what you said. And I think that you could put the shear pin in an electric drill and spin it on a file. Of course, wear safety goggles, gloves and a face mask. It might work.

    Very bad example. It's a bad ideea to keep the car idling with ICE engine on. Bad for environment, bad for engine, bad for wallet.

      You are right. And normally I wouldn’t have done it. But, I hadn’t been out to the car for a few days of sub freezing weather, and I needed to warm it up to get the ice off.

    Cool video thanks. I drive Prius Prime and I always use auto climate as it is linked to the temperature of the engine, so it is more efficient. Then putting everything on high. Same with front defrost. Next time just set temperature for like 68-70 leve it on auto and close circulation and then see how fast it is going to warm up :-)

      You can turn it on or off in the settings of your toyota

      I’ll have to check. We mostly do local driving and mostly in EV mode, so I’m not paying too much attention to mpg. But, I’ll check the history screen next time we go into town and I’ll get back to you.

    I absolutely hate this POS! I had a 2018 Tucson that, in my opinion, blows this hunk of sh*t away (except for acceleration and gas mileage). And this is coming from someone old enough to remember when Hyundai first came to the US ,they were total garbage.

    I still don't understand why you won't try using the "AUTO" button and leaving the "ECO" button off? This should heat the car faster. Although, nothing is faster than using the engine.

      I experimented. Auto only heats the floor. And it only blows the fan at medium. I think it’s useful for once the interior is already heated up.

      Can you leave it plugged in and remotely engage the "warm up the car on electricity?" My EV works like this and it's wonderful in the cold.

    I wonder if you would have turned on the A/C button in the car, if it would have warmed up faster? You're basically telling the A/C to run backwards, like a heat pump. Let us know if this worked better for you.

    Hmm, why didn't you utilize recirculate? You're pulling air from outside. *edit does it not allow you to do so when defrosting? Weird.

      I’m not sure why, but the recirculate button doesn’t respond when it’s on Defrost with the gas engine.

      @@andyseclecticdiyshop2081 I wonder if recirculating first then defrosting might bring the overall time down some. My intuition says that if the car is already comfy, defrosting time might be shorter but not the other way around.

      @@andyseclecticdiyshop2081 recirculation won’t work on defrost cause you want to use dry air from the outside. Recirculation pushes around old moisty air so it takes longer time to get a clear view.

    Too bad when you turned off front defroster the HVAC went to ECO. What possibly reduced heating for you. But anyways as an owner im pretty disappointed wit heating in this car. One of the reason i bought PHEV is to commute short distances on EV. Gess what heating i get from it, when i drive 15min long drive.

      I understand and agree. Should be better in the warmer months. Plus, with the EV mode the A/C keeps running when the car is parked without using gas.

      @@ElyFrankes to heat the car you have to press the start button. And if you press the start button when it’s plugged in it just says you need to unplug it first.
