He has confirmed that he will play in Japan next season after a social media message, sent on board a private jet heading for the Asian destination.
He has widely been expected to move to Japan and everything suggests that his new club will be Vissel Kobe.
Iniesta is set to be presented next weekend where his three year contract will be announced.
He is pictured in a tweet alongside Rakuten CEO Hiroshi Mikitani, who has been fundamental in the signing for the J1 League club. Rakuten are sponsors of Vissel Kobe and Barcelona.
Iniesta was widely expected to make a lucrative switch to China but the recent salary cap implemented by the government put the high profile transfer into doubt.
Japenese outfit Vissel Kobe has since stepped up to sign the legendary playmaker who played his 674th and final game for La Liga champions Barcelona on Sunday.
"Andres Iniesta good luck for your new adventure in Japan with Vissel Kobe," they wrote on their official Twitter account. "We are sure the fans will enjoy your magic."
The 34-year-old will now play alongside former Arsenal and Bayern Munich striker Lukas Podolski at the J-League outfit.
"By giving both fans and players the opportunity to see Iniesta's world-class play style and technique, we believe his decision to come to Japan will have a major impact on not just Vissel Kobe, but on football in Japan as well as the whole of Asia," club owner Hiroshi Mikitani said in a press release.
"As the 'New Vissel Kobe,' we will work to achieve our goal of the becoming the No.1 club in Asia."
