    Chomsky's ruthless dedication to logic and facts is why he has been so powerfully influential to me as an individual. There are significant reasons why he is listed as one of the top ten most cited people in the history of the humanities. His exposition of the bloody and corrupt policies carried out by the American government around the world is unlike anything we have ever seen.

    A warrior takes by force. A diplomat takes with reason. Death? Or, mutual benefit? If you have nothing to offer it must be war. Criminals know this to be fact.

    Chomsky is a fucking idiot. I'm not american. I'm venezulean. I've lived through all the chavista regime and had to flee my country. This fucking moron "intellectual" loved to praise leftist dictators in south and central america all his life without know shit. Now I acknowledge that there has been a lot of bad US administration that have done more harm than good in many countries of the continent, and they have even supported these leftist dictators. But Chomsky's support for these dictators as an "independent" speaker and so called "intellectual" is disgusting.

    "The attempt by the Sandinistas to discredit the Contras by the manufacture of atrocities is well documented." WOW! Wow. Straight from the playbook of genocide denial, "the massacres were faked to discredit our movement." You'd think we were watching Serbian state media in 1995. Unbelievable.

    Complaints about Soviet military equipment are so dishonest. Nicaragua bought arms to defend itself from the Contras. The Contras that the USA was training, funding, arming, and directing to attack "soft targets". What are the Nicaraguans supposed to do, roll over and let them attack? No of course they will try to defend themselves. They tried to buy arms from France and Belgium but the US applied diplomatic pressure to force them not to sell. Leaving Nicaragua with only one supplier the US couldn't influence: the USSR. The US forced them to buy from the USSR by compeling them to defend themselves and block off all other arms sellers. And then the US cited this purchase of Soviet arms to defend itself from Contra attack as proof of hostile intent.

    Annnndddd Chomsky was right! Regardless of what happened inside these Central American countries, our intervening military action, picking sides, only made things worse-This is why we had the CIA backing drug cartels, why we have MS-13 and mass unlawful immigration from collapsing Central American countries today

    The sheer illogicality of Silber's remarks is shocking beyond words! "...And when you suggest that Cruz is simply a figurehead and does nothing, you overlook the fact that Arturo Cruz was the Ambassador of the Sandinistas to the United States. And he was the head banker of the Sandinistas... ...until he finally broke with them when he found out that they were utterly totalitarian." Ummm??? What??? How the .... does the fact that Cruz was an ex-Sandanista contradict the assertion that he later becaume a figurehead who did nothing?? What exactly is Chomsky supposed to be overlooking here? Silber is saying things where he doesn't seem to even be attempting to make any kind of sense.

    The current (2021) repressive dictatorship under Sandanista leader Daniel Ortega - arguably the worst in Central America today and when no one is attacking them and the Soviet Union no longer exists - proves that concerns about the Sandanistas' dictatorial bent in the 1980s were well-founded.

    • @tookie36
      @tookie36 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So completely destroying the country and pumping it full weapons for decades has nothing to do with its current situation?

    • @sheilamacdougal4874
      @sheilamacdougal4874 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tookie36 Correct, it has nothing to do with the current situation, even though woke U.S. haters need to blame the U.S. for all the ills of the world, including those done by anti-Americans. Ortega's arrest of democratic political leaders, ordering the police to fire into peaceful unarmed demonstrators, stifling the press, and repressive dictatorship in general, has zero relationship to the contras forty years ago, who have not been active for decades. How does "pumping the country full of arms" 40 years ago excuse or explain anything about firing into unarmed student protestors in 2021, or arresting 40 opposition leaders and blocking all popular opposition figures from running in the recent election? You have to be a blind anti-American ideologue to think there is any relation. Ortega is a dictator exactly like General Somoza whom he fought against in the 70s, and that explains everything.

    I don't hate Silber, maybe it's cos he is more genuine that the Shapiros and Peterson's of today. He certainly thinks United States is a force for good. Also, maybe due to his apparent disability...But...He is wrong.

    • @tommym321
      @tommym321 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have to resort to constant aggressive interruptions and name calling, then by definition your position is not "genuine." Say what you will about Shapiro and Peterson, neither one of them ever debates in such a bad faith manner.
