Modern Pianista “where creativity meets discipline”
Music is magical, yet it's been taught in very dry and boring ways. This needs to change. Learn how to approach music as a language of colors to paint with, while fully understanding the ins and outs of music theory as a singer songwriter producer.
After teaching private lessons all over Los Angeles since 2013, Keira has curated an incredible piano curriculum that can teach you how to play by ear, understand music theory, improvise and provide lifelong fulfillment and joy. Filling the void for artists, singer songwriters and producers, Keira aims to validate the unique career paths of music professionals by shortcutting them to learn exactly what they want to learn so they can accompany themselves and create better art. This is one of the exercises I curated that I am THE MOST excited about. I've been teaching this to ALL my private students in Los Angeles for over a decade and every time, my students get so excited about this. WHY? Because we are traditionally taught in piano lessons that exercises must be done in a dry and boring way and we never fully connect the dots as to WHY we are doing the exercise and...

How to Learn Piano Creatively

Music is magical 🪄 it’s time we teach it that way. Learn the language of music by understanding key signatures. What is an octave. Is it pressing the key d and d. And c and c
An octave is an interval of 12 semitones and as you said it is the same note further up or down in the keyboard
@@zlrivo🎯
Great! I really like this idea of overlapping it with left hand octaves and hearing different harmony. Plus tremolos!
@@LogioTek Thanks! This one’s a favorite to expand creativity and increase musicality while still getting a lot of the traditionally beneficial things 🙌🏽✨
Awesome thanks! I had a question about that and chord naming. Now it makes sense!
This is exactly what I was looking for as a beginner! Thank you so much 🙏 subscribed!
Aw amazing! I'm glad I could help!
Hi Keira - thanks for this - it's really simple, achievable but still a challenge. I really appreciate it, and your communication is perfectly pitched for someone at my lowly level hahaha
@@PaulMarah-g6p Aw I’m glad to hear that! Music is meant to be enjoyed for a lifetime so take it one day at a time 😊
Great explanation of why practicing scales is so important. I like your approach of using scales to teach your fingers how to play melody. That resonates with me.
@@jsaxman23 I’m glad it resonates with you! 🎹✨

I'm a beginner: 1 year. does anyone teach how to keep rhythm with left hand arpeggios and a right hand melody??? Any help will be appreciated.
@@CharlesJones-q1y that would be polyrhythms, which is definitely not a beginning concept. What specifically are you trying to learn? Jazz improvisation, a specific song, etc?

@@musicbygleeb Thank you so much! This comment made my day ❤️
I look forward to more of your videos, Keira, and how you bring color into the organizing principle of the circle of fifths. Your communication style is welcoming and I would love to see and hear you play examples that observers could follow and participate in as you make your points ind insights. All the best to you in this enterprise!
This is a great idea! I never thought of doing something like this. I am teaching myself to play piano and I will look to more of your videos for help! Thank you!
Thanks for tuning in! Glad it sparked some interest and inspiration.
I always taught classical piano with exactly the same approach: circle of the fifths starting from the first or second lesson. Same concepts apply to a classical sonata or a simple melody of the classical repertoire. I think what should distinguish this interesting initiative is the analysis of pop songs and their structure, wonder how far down the line you’ll introduce that, hope not too far. I’ll be following with a curious attitude further developments. Keep it up, Keira!
I'm glad you teach with the Circle of Fifths, Paolo! I unfortunately did not discover it until much further along my journey, after I went to Musicians Institute, which was after 10+ years of classical training! I'll definitely be posting videos with pop songs and their structure. Stay tuned!
Key signatures are like colors!! 🎨
