I think 343 retconned the MA5k as an SMG since it was described as a carbine in ghosts of onyx which would make sense to hold 7.62s

I wouldn’t say it’s bad I would just say it’s a little lazy to pretty much reuse the model, animations and sounds of the AR and combine it with battle rifle’s guard rail but that’s my opinion🤷‍♂️

lol it's halo, shit dont make sense for modern guns. but rule of cool/ creative lazyness, altough in lore ,this gun isnt really an smg, although it functions like one in game. Halo does have the smg, you recall, that shoots similar to 9mm apparently.

Yeah, the halo 2 SMG shoots small caseless ammo from a weird side magazine, halo 5 uses cased ammo and has a P90 style magazine and design.

@@saltx1 Forgot to mention you can see it imprinted on the magazine, 7.62 NATO standard.

Its really supposed to be a carbine, but for the purposes of rounding out Halo Infinite's sandbox its taking the place of an SMG, since we don't have one yet. An assault rifle firing 7.62x51 NATO is still insane though.
