Lovely rendition. Got the LP that this is from.
Beautiful Chris!
YES! A beautiful composition and so well sung, and played on your lovely fan-fret guitar!
Superb song, played superbly. Suits your voice too Chris, sounds great seriously.
Beautiful work,really ❤
Beautifully done. You really capture the sadness of the song with your gentle, heartfelt vocals and sweet guitar. This is one of your best!
Lovely job, Chris!
Only just noticed this one also. This is one of my all-time favourite Dave Evans songs ever.
thanks! by the way I‘m working on Train and River again 😉
Whenever i hear train and the river i always think to myself how is that song even possible to play on the guitar. Such a complex song. @@herring-instruments
Wow this is a great version of this song.
Fantastic Chris ! I love this song, Dave Evans was such a fantastic guitarist, luthier, and songwriter, and it's brilliant seeing somebody as talented as yourself trying to keep his songs alive.
You should play & sing a lot more. But not just covers.
Lovely song! Well played/sung!
I have this on vinyl, always been a favourite Dave Evans song, you certainly nailed his playing Chris, superb 👌
I love your tender vocal. Great job.
Very emotional. Great performance.
beautiful

Dear Chris… the Scarth’s replica sounds sooo John-like… amazing 💫
Brilliant! Great rendition Chris. Thank you.
Thanks for this… your trusty Falstaff’s never end to surprise me for its gorgeous sound… and your playing to par 💎🥇💫💎🥇
Played too fast in my opinion.
Mist Covered Mountain yes, is slightly faster (by 7bpm), but The Orphan is actually slower than orig
OMG, two of all-time favorite artists together! Wow, this should be on a record somewhere. Bravo!
Bravo! The backup vocals really add a lot.
Thanks! Gerry was a brilliant musician!
Wonderful! I've only recently started listening to Dave Evans, and this is one of my very favorite. Thank you for your great performances and fantastic taste in selecting songs to do.
I got one more...Barnola "October" th-cam.com/video/GZsPkbsH7fw/w-d-xo.html
nice, 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 . I like it ❤❤❤
Superbly played Chris. I have been working my way through Dave Evan's discography, so many amazing pieces, I don't know how he wasn't much better known.
This is an absolutely incredible cover! Dave Evans would be proud :)
Thanks James!
Lovely ballad! Never heard it before. Well played & sung!
Great cover
can you please show how to play it, just a video focusing in on your playing + tuning?
Un vrai bonheur pour les oreilles ! Grand bravo 👍
Outstanding.
An extraordinarily effective and respectful interpretation of a brilliant song from one of Britain’s best loved and least acknowledged of UK troubadours. I encountered Dave Evans only once in person in 1972 as part of a Midlands tour to Education authority youth clubs that David must have been employed on … also saw concerts from Dave Cartwright, Steve Tilston, John James, Martin Carthy, the Pigsty Hill Light Orchestra including special guest Bill Cole, and many more, the link presumably being that most were signed to Ian A. Anderson’s Village Things record label at some point. Sadly, with the passage of time, much of this is becoming apocryphal, e.g. that Ian A. Anderson was not otherwise the lead singer and flautist of Jethro Tull ( a different Ian Anderson!) and somebody arguably equally, if more important in the folk music sphere, and also that David did not double (as far as I know and unless he has yet another secret life!) as the first lead singer for AC/DC ... etc., etc., etc!!! But David’s music seems to have accompanied my life ... I have returned to David’s music for nay on 50 years, once again especially under lock-down and also in the context of harp guitars that I am now interested in … talk about a full circle! I also had the privilege recently of visiting the Orkney mainland and the Stromness graveyard and locating David’s grave close to a colleague of mine and in both cases sprinkling on a glass of the Highland Park 19-Year-old that we might otherwise have shared in life, albeit given the intensity of the wind on the day, the occupants in the plots next door benefited more! Just glad that there are other people out there appreciating the music!
Fantastic !
Super!!!
Sounds like Bert, John & Danny playing! 😁
Beautiful! 👏👏👏
Fetter Sound!
Never heard this before, so will check out Brian's original. I do like it a lot from your version Chris, it has a lot of different techniques going on.
Thanks, let me know if you don’t find him, I think his channel is called reevedavey, was a great guitarist, loads of Jansch and Renbourn
@@herring-instruments Thanks Chris, I was a subscriber to his YT channel, never knew his real name, nor that he had sadly passed away.
Wow, great cover
Thanks!
Great sounding chords 01.50. Well done.

Nicely done, as always!

Beautifully played Chris
Excellent!
I absolutely love this arrangement, and very well played Chris.
That is a beautiful cover. Can you at all help me with the picking pattern and chords? Thank you
Thanks! Verse Am G G Am repeat, refrain C G Am, I think I only rarely play the first string though
