Meister Eckhart: S11: Seek God because He is God

This is a reading of the mystic Meister Eckhart's Sermon 11. “He who would worship the Father must betake himself into eternity in his desires and hopes.” Copyright Disclaimer under section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for “fair use” for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, education and research.
Meister Eckhart: S10: God's Honor
มุมมอง 2.1K4 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a reading of the mystic Meister Eckhart's Sermon 10. If God is your Lord, then you must be his servant. If you work for your own good, your own pleasure or your own salvation, then you are not his servant because you seek your own profit rather than God’s glory. If God wills you to be sick, but you want to be well, or that your friend should die, but you want him to live, then you want ...
Meister Eckhart: S9: Martha and Mary
มุมมอง 3.7K4 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a reading of the mystic Meister Eckhart's Sermon 9. Three things made Mary sit at our Lord’s feet: (i) the goodness of God possessed in her soul; (ii) an unspeakable longing (not knowing what she desired); and (iii) the sweet solace and joy from the eternal words flowing from the mouth of Christ. Three things made Martha move about and wait on Christ: (i) her mature age and ground of he...
Meister Eckhart: S8: Citadel of the Soul
มุมมอง 4.3K4 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a reading of the mystic Meister Eckhart's Sermon 8. “Our Lord Jesus Christ went up into a citadel and was received by a virgin who was a wife.” “Virgin” means a person devoid of all alien images, a person who is empty. To be empty means to be without attachment to anything and standing free in this present Now, ready to receive and to do God’s beloved will. “A virgin who is a wife is fr...
Meister Eckhart: S7: Transported into the Divine Essence
มุมมอง 5K5 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a reading of the mystic Meister Eckhart's Sermon 7. To know God and be known by him, and to see God and be seen by him is the same thing. 1 John 3:1 says we are children of God, but we cannot be sons and daughters of God unless we share in the filial nature of the Son of God. Because we share in God’s nature, we are his children. We are children of God “by having the same essence the So...
Meister Eckhart: S6: The Temple of God
มุมมอง 5K5 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a reading of the mystic Meister Eckhart's Sermon 6. God shall rule with authority in the Temple which is man’s soul. Man’s soul resembles God more than any other created thing. God wants to clear the Temple so that he can reside there alone. Those who do good works or acts of piety in order that God may repay them in some way are like the merchants who occupied the temple in Jerusalem i...
Meister Eckhart: S5: God is Love
มุมมอง 9K5 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a reading of the mystic Meister Eckhart's S5. “‘God is love, and he who dwells in love dwells in God, and God dwells in him.’” With his love, God drives everything out of plurality and into oneness in himself. God’s love gives all creatures their being and life. God’s love maintains all creatures and created things. “To stop God loving my soul would be to deprive him of his Godhead ….” ...
Meister Eckhart: S4: Knowing Through Unknowing
มุมมอง 17K5 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a reading of the mystic Meister Eckhart's S4. Can the Logos be born into the soul of a man from his senses, from that which comes from outside the man (i.e., images, sensory input)? No, the Logos cannot be born that way. The Logos must well up from within the ground of a man’s soul, out of God. For that to happen, man’s activities must cease and all of the powers of his soul must serve ...
Meister Eckhart: S3: Active Contemplation
มุมมอง 10K5 ปีที่แล้ว
Meister Eckhart's S3: Active Contemplation. Man has an active, passive and potential intellect. When God undertakes work in the soul, the mind must be passive-it must remain still and let God act (passive intellect). When the mind is still, it has potential knowledge of God (i.e., potential intellect). The mind must strive with all of its might and real sincerity to become still; when it does, ...
Meister Eckhart: S2: God Must Act and the Soul Must Suffer
มุมมอง 13K5 ปีที่แล้ว
Meister Eckhart's S2: God Must Act and the Soul Must Suffer. In the ground of the soul is its essence or spark where there is no activity, but a silent desert devoid of all images. This is where God speaks his Word. When God streams into the soul, his light overflows and radiates in one’s external body and the individual receives wisdom and understanding. However, light cannot coexist with dark...
Meister Eckhart: S1: Birth of the Logos in the Soul
มุมมอง 31K5 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a reading of the mystic Meister Eckhart's S1, which focuses on the birth of the Logos, the Word, in the soul. The birth of the Logos in the soul takes place in the "ground" of the soul of those who are good and perfected, pure and noble, collected and turned inward-i.e., in the virtuous soul, those souls walking in the ways of God who emanate virtue. The ground of the soul is its essenc...

Such good material deserves not to be marred by such utterly inappropriate music. Such noise comes from an entirely different consciousness than that in which Meister Eckhart operated. If you must clutter the message, please at least use Gregorian or Byzantine chant. Or maybe even the appropriate music Samaneri Jayasara finds for her readings of the mystics on TH-cam. Seriously, this is not a minor, cosmetic error, but a real aesthetic/spiritual rupture. It confirms the Orthodox critique of western Christianity as a dis-integration. Nonetheless, thank you for your earnest labors.

The word of God is spoken in a part of the soul that is pure and inturned. It is between God and Man. Man can cooperate with the word.

It will only seem as suffering because of the change from what we feel as normal. Yes, God must act, soon.

Thank you for the reading of the Master's sermon. Master Eckhart provides a uniquely fresh interpretation of the Mary and Martha story from the Bible. His insights are deep and profound. I interpret Eckhart as saying that Martha was a Karma Yogi, one who tirelessly performed God's Will without any self-interest. Martha was so well grounded in the Being even while she was active performing what needed to be done.

This is so powerful (apart from the awful music). BUT if you really take it to heart, it means throwing away all you believe, all ideas you have, all thoughts, all words, - everything that you claim to know or be! You must throw away the idea of being a Christian, or a Buddhist, or a Muslim, or, indeed, anything and everything you can imagine. Finally, you must even throw away yourself!

We're all just a thought in the mind of GD. Nature is from Him, and all things will return to Him. Besides Him, there's nothing. He is ONE... with everything. We don't even know His name, only His titles! But on the day of GD, we'll all know His name, and His name is ONE.

But of course Meister Eckhart makes a distinction between God, to whom we can attributed qualities, and the Godhead, which is beyond all words, ideas, concepts and any attempt to define. Whilst all creatures may become 'one' with God, such a conept vanishes in the non-dual state of the Godhead.
