    Good idea caging your plants, I do the same thing but for a different reason...strong thunder storm winds catch the leaves like sails and snap the plants off at the ground, I cut the lower ring (s) off old cages and put them in the ground when the plants are young and let the leaves grow up through the cage anchoring them down...happy gardening.

    I’ve had several of these pop up recently and they are all from seeds that I planted this spring, collected the seeds from those plants and then planted out mid summer. Interestingly, this is also the first year I’ve planted some candy stripe and variegated mixes, so I think these are coming from cross pollinated varieties of those variegated mixes. First time I’ve seen this and I’ve grown zinnias for decades.

    This is a beautiful plant for sure! Thanks for sharing. I was wondering about the leaves on this... I thought I'd saved seeds from this plant but on yours the leaves look more tear drop shaped (like a traditional leaf) but does your plant also have leaves with deep lobes? Like a different shape that the leaves on the top? Around the 2:40 mark it seems like there are some leaves in the backdrop similar to what I have. Thanks!

    • @JbelldigsDaydreamGarden
      @JbelldigsDaydreamGarden ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! If I'm remembering correctly, the rudbeckia has a wide leaf at the base of the plant that's different from the leaves towards the top. Also, it's possible you're noticing the leaves from the echincea and/or the anise hyssop right at that 2:40 mark.

      There are dozens of sunflowers that have more than one bloom. Look for ones labeled "multi-branching" rather than "single" "single head" single Bloom". The singles are often the giant varieties like Mammoth. Every seed company I've purchased from has both types. Hope you enjoy!

    • @JbelldigsDaydreamGarden
      @JbelldigsDaydreamGarden ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! How many plants to grow really depends on your appetite, family size, etc. Each individual plant produced probably around dozen squash. On the trellis in the video I had four honeynut squash plants do really well, and a couple other squash varieties that didn't make it due to pests. The honeynut squash ended up being so sweet that I used it in place of sweet potatoes and pumpkins for pie. I absolutely loved wathcing these grow, especially with the convenience of them being upright and not needing to bend down everytime I wanted to check in. Such a fun plant. Are you growing vertically?
