The Massachusetts Project
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 15 มิ.ย. 2021
I'm Zach, a teenager from Western Massachusetts, who is attempting to visit all 351 towns and cities in Massachusetts. Starting in the smallest town (Gosnold, but it was too far away, so we went with Monroe, the smallest on the mainland) and ending in the largest (Boston, obviously). In each town/city I visit, I will try to visit their town hall, post office, landmarks, maybe do a hike (if they have one), and whatever interesting destinations that the location has to offer. Hopefully, by the time I'm done, I'll have traveled to Boston to Pittsfield, from North Adams to Plymouth, and everywhere in between. I hope you will join me in my adventures!
Anyone from Massachusetts who knows of any interesting locations I should visit, please let me know about them.

A town with a name that isn't relevant to it (with a pub!) | Plainfield, Massachusetts | Ep. 14

Plainfield is not an appropriate name for this town. It has more lakes than fields, and, as we'll see in the video, a variety of interesting businesses. These include a pub (which we'll go inside, a first), a campground, a post office inside a house, and the aforementioned lake! A town with a lot of nature and a nuclear power plant | Rowe, Massachusetts | Ep 8

Rowe, Massachusetts has a lot of things. It has a decommisioned nuclear power plant (which we take a look outside of for obvious reasons), a conference and camp center, and few trails that ultimately take you to the top of Adams Mountain (which isn't in Adams, Massachusetts?). We look at all of this and more in todays episode. Welcome to the Massachusetts Project, a video series here on TH-cam ...

That was very enjoyable- thank you!
It's awesome to see a young man so interested in educating people about Massachusetts. Keep doing what you're doing Zack! I really enjoy your videos 😊
Not sure why I am here watching this in the middle of the night, but I am loving it and the guide did a great job. I am from Massachusetts, but am no longer able to live there bc I want to live near my grandchildren and family, but Massachusetts will always be home to me.
Why are the wearing masks? Was this filmed in 2021?
Hi, that's a good question! This was filmed in July of 2022, and Heath was one of the last towns to repeal its mask mandate
Finally back!!!🎉
Glad you are back to making videos!
I am too!
Hi, Zack! Tyringham is a great little village, so thanks for showing it. Just up Jerusalem Road is Tyringham Cobble, a great scenic walk that incorporates part of the AT. Further along the road is what used to be a Shaker community with some beautiful Shaker houses. Just an aside it’s pronounced Tirringham - a soft “i” like in igloo.
Love this video. That was one heck of a climb! Your Mom is a total sweetheart for teaming up with you to do these videos!
Thanks! She is great, she's up for anything even though she complains about her loud breathing
This was a really good video, Zach. Thanks so much for posting this. You’re such a smart young man and have that great sense of humor! I hope to watch more of your videos. Keep up the good work!
Guy that won the 1939 Oscar for best screenplay, Sidney Howard is buried in the cemetery!
It’s actually pronounced ALL-ford. The Town Hall office used to be the school. The library used to be the town hall. It probably actually still is, the first floor was always the meeting hall
There are a couple of townships on Cape Cod that do not have numbered state highways. In western Mass there is Wendel, Leyden, Rowe, Monroe, Middlefield, Montgomery, Tyringham and Mount Washington. Interesting facts! The Tour de France one would be fun to test
Nice
The town was built in 17 hundreds, so that church looking thing is a school.
Am I the only one that knows a lot about Tolland and the story's behind it?
You might be... I am trying to put more effort into looking at histories of the town, but I would be interested!
My aunt sadly passed away and left me land in Tolland, I am planning on building on it.
My aunt and uncle owned Goblin Hollow Farm for more than 50 years at 25 Pleasant St. in Plainfield. I spent MANY happy summers at this wonderful place, and Plainfield holds a very special place in my heart. It is now owned by a nice couple who have kept it as a working farm called Manda Farm.
I really enjoy this journey with you kiddo, we’ll explained
Thank you! Sorry it took me so long to get back, I was sick and busy with school.
Very nice video
Thank You! Glad you enjoyed it!
I grew up here!!!!
Wow! This must have been a nice place to grow up! The people we met were very nice and welcoming!
Zack you're doing a great job on your commentary of all these towns most of the towns I've never heard of before so it's very interesting to find out about little towns that exist that exist but most people don't know about keep up the good work
I haven't heard of most of them either! :)
Loved your hike it sounded like a lot of fun
Thanks, it was!
Great content. Next time you go I recommend checking out the expired parking meter tombstone by the church. Keep it up!!
Thanks! I've never heard of this, I'll have to check it out when I return someday, maybe to go see the time capsule.
Hey! Love your channel - I'm in the middle of doing a 351 challenge, but my plan is to ride my bike through each town! 183 done! Got here from your Monroe video where I'm planning on riding through next weekend!
Hey, sorry for the delay for responding, was camping in another Massachusetts town! I looked at some of your videos, and your challenge looks very cool! Where are you off to next?
@@TheMassachusettsProject thanks!! I finished biking through Bernardston, Colrain, Leyden, Heath, Rowe, Monroe, Hawley, Ashfield, and Williamsburg last weekend. On Labor Day weekend I've planned biking from Springfield to Sheffield along Rt 57, and then cover the southern Berkshire valley towns.
We will try to break free of our Cocomelon binge to watch more of these soon.
Feel free to watch Cocomelon. I'll be waiting
What did you think of that second hike? The kiln is very cool... Might put on my list. 😁
I enjoyed it! It was very short, I wouldn't make a special trip unless you have another reason to be up there.
The outtakes!!! Also, I totally get what you were saying about thinking the park would be different. I usually think of a park as being more than just a playground with a small bit of field.
Thanks, I agree, parks should be larger than they are, although in this instance it makes sense.
I have to admit now I kind of want to check out random inns and motels around the state!
I understand where you're coming from, as I do have a small obsession of them! We will also check out a few more in upcoming videos!
Great job, Zach! Keep the videos coming! I really enjoy them!! 👍😀
Thanks, glad you like them!
Great job, Zach! I’m learning so much from you about all of the towns you go to. I love your humor in each video too! 😀
Thanks! I am learning a lot too, from the town's history, to the production of the videos. In an upcoming video, I bumped into someone who works for the town, and they gave us an impromptu tour.
@@TheMassachusettsProject great job. I did not know Savoy had their own graveyard. I knew that more people lived there in the 1900's since farming was still strong. and that they had a bus station. and earlier they had a station for the coaches and horses that would come through the area to Springfield. I think the name of people were only one name in very old times is because most people were born and died in a settlement were everyone know each other and they did not need surnames. this was a common practice in Europe were the people came from.
I have a friend who lives in Plainfield, Zach, and we used to go to her house for book club. Long ago they owned a restaurant that served buffalo meat, and they also owned several emus. You showed me a lot about the town that I didn't know. Great job! I also subscribed to your website. Can't wait to see where you go next.
Wow, that's interesting. We passed a farm with several emus in Plainfield. I wonder if that was her?
@@TheMassachusettsProject She sold them many years ago, but maybe the people in the place you saw bought them.
Awesome video Zach! I can’t wait to watch your others!
Thanks! I'm excited to make more!
Great video! Lesley sent me the link and I can't wait to see more of your videos. I love the mix of history, humor and great editing!
Thanks for watching! I'm glad you liked it!
Very interesting! I learn so much from your videos! Great job! Keep it up!
Thanks! I'm glad you like the added info!
Hiya!-cool sharing.
Thanks!
I like that you added more information about the town history
Thanks! I felt like my videos needed more info about the places they represent.
Love it! My kid is obsessed with towns and their history.
Thanks! Glad you liked the video! Did your kid watch it too? I'm happy it's summer so I can get back to filming!
@@TheMassachusettsProject yes he loves it! He's like a mini you (9 years old). We look forward to more videos! 😁
@@kellypreziosi Great! FYI I have a new video coming out tomorrow at 6:45 EST
@@TheMassachusettsProject woohoo! :happy dance: We'll tune in!
Awesome job, Zach! Your videos are very interesting and I learn a lot from them!
Awesome, thank you!
Great job, Zach! I never heard of Alford before. Where exactly is it?
It's on the New York border, west of Great Barrington.
I laughed so many times at the wittiness in here . These are truly entertaining while staying informational. Thanks for taking us on this trip. Where are you all offering guided hikes???
Glad you enjoyed it! Not offering guided hikes right now 😉, but maybe you could guide us one time?
Interesting video of a small MA town. I'm surprised that the tavern is still closed because of Covid.
I was too!
That's a harrowing climb up the mountain by way of many rocks, and an interesting three state marker.
I wanted to go there for the marker, not for the rest of the hike. lol
That's a very unique "post office." I liked the old school. Thanks for sharing.
I liked the Beehive Kiln and the newts with dj khaled. Thanks for sharing your info with us.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
Think this is my new favorite!
Thanks!
Love the bloopers at the end.
This is fun and funny. Nice use of little bits of trivia!
Glad you enjoyed it! I had as much fun making this as you had watching it!
