Yeah totally agree with you M8 one of my fave movies..in Victor mclakens autobiography he said this was the movie he loved doing with John Wayne for 2 reasons 1-it was filmed in Ireland 2-the fight scene he said some of the punches actually landed but they carried on the scene that's what makes it look so genuine 😀
At 2:44 a direct homage to The Playboy of the Western World, and at 7:50 Mr MacGowran gets a great gob from Mr Fitzgerald, who tends to the residue afterwards whilst staying in character. They must've planned this for months.
