Did not know Florida had an embassy in D.C.! I’ve lived in Jacksonville for close to 46 years, and in Florida for close to 56 years. Thx for the interesting tidbit of info! 😊

I rent in the downtown area and have been here two years. I love it. I love the beautiful St. John’s river and the beautiful bridges. I love being able to walk or drive a short distance to really good restaurants and live theatre and concerts. I’m from Georgia, and the weather is not really any different. The Jacksonville Zoo is the best zoo I’ve ever been to. Beautiful and it has so many events, you want to get an annual pass. I love the museums. My favorite is the Cummer Art Museum. The downtown library is the best I’ve ever been to. Check out all the services they offer. The apartment rental rates are not so different from other cities. The traffic is nothing compared to Atlanta or Los Angeles. It’s fine, really. I feel very safe, walking around downtown, even walking from restaurants or concerts to home at night. The police here are great…unless you’re a threat. There are a lot of hospitals and wonderful doctors here. I’ve had so many great references. And, lastly, no. I don’t work for the Chamber of Commerce.

The water is very hard and full of minerals to the point where you can see white flex in a glass of water and don't want to drink it. You must have a water softener to protect your pipes and things like your water heater from getting clogged with minerals. If buying an older home make sure that it has had a whole house water softener or you can expect that your pipes are 50% clogged or worse and your water heater is probably in bad shape, washer, dishwasher, etc.

Jacksonville is not bad. Wages are low because it is the south, workers rights are not the best, there is a problem with home owners insurance in Florida because they don't want to insure you unless you have a new home. They don't like old pipes and they want your roof to be less than 15 years old. The south has a problem with insecticide resistant pests like fleas if you have pets, it is very hot and humid in summer, worse than south Florida in fact, drivers are terrible so you always have to be on guard that someone is going to pull out in front of you, but housing prices are good, you do get the effects of hurricanes passing by which happens a lot as they seem to like to go up through the state, but Jacksonville doesn't normally get a direct hit, Jacksonville is a large city and does have the beach area but it is not really developed as Jacksonville is further north and has a winter season so most snow birds go further south in winter, I could go on.

He says do not move to Jacksonville in his title but he's making it a positive review and telling us reasons why he loves living there I don't understand is this clickbait is this fear-mongering I don't know

I’ve lived here for 3 years, if it’s home it’s home, if not then you may not like it as much. It is very flat here, and if not for the friend that brought me here I’d be long gone. I’m from CA and the cost of living is no better than CA. Jax is pretty comparable cost of living in ghetto areas and ridiculous in nice areas. Plus side is weather, humidity (I have dry skin), no state tax, gas around $3.

Do not even visit Jacksonville! Sheriff has no control of crime with all the Black Gangs! Not a Racist, just facts about the cesspool theses Black Gangs have turned Jacksonville into!

I'm looking to sale already.

That's not true, NYC has the most friendly people depending which area you go to, mostly not in tourist area.

There's crime everywhere, Florida cities have crime, and unless you live in the rural area, you will have crime.

1964. I was born that year. I still do take it seriously. Weather is changing and should never take it for granted. And with climate change, Jax will be hit and possibly on a level like never before. And on a scale unimaginable.

People talk about how much they hate Jacksonville but yet they are moving here by the thousands. We don't want you here either so if you hate it that much pack your crap and go. Been living here since 2003 and love it. All these people that moved here that are ruining Jacksonville, out of state drivers are the worst and they blame it on the locals.

Moved here from San Diego, because of the Navy, hate this town. Love Florida, but it's out of tuned.

Lived here for 62 years and it keeps getting worse each and every day. Yep Florida is bipolar. It's not her fault.

I have just moved here, and am living with my daughter and family. My only complaint is the size. It takes 30 minutes to go anywhere. It is one big tangled highway where everybody ignores the speed limit! Very pretty as it is not like south Florida, here there are millions of old trees.

I've lived in Jax, Fl / Orange Park my whole life. In Jax on the Southside, I have seen quite a few floods but I also know that drainage can be improved. It's not just a matter of a clogged drain on a street. Those drains / drain pipes flow into ditches that flow into Pottsburgh Creek and into the ST Johns River. When the tides are high and ditch is full then the water has nowhere to go. There has to be a better way. But with American tax dollars going everywhere but to Americans, it's unlikely those changes will ever happen.

Southern pines has a high HOA fee with no amenity. Not sure why they charge what they do.

Q: Recasting- Does it extend your current mortgage out 30 years with a new home, allowing you to keep the old home interest rate? Or does the recasting give you a new loan with new loan interest, but allows you to take all the profits from the sale of your old home and roll it into the new mortgage. But the new home is repaid at the recast loan interest rate, not the old home interest rate. I.E. if I have a current mortgage for 3% and a recast for a new home, do I keep the 3% interest for the new home? (All depending on qualifying, of course😊) Very interesting video. Thanks!

Great video. We are in Michigan and thinking about possibly heading down south in the next couple of years. Our daughter is thinking about going to UNF once she graduates high school. t looks like golf cart (golf car?!) paths on the side of the roads. Do they take you to the shopping areas? I live in Jax and it sucks! They drive so horrible and there is a negative vibe in the air and it just seems like the place is dying!! I’m in riverside and it used to be a cool little hippy part of town but now it’s just like every city nowadays lots of homeless people and trashy but there are still small pockets of goodness left but their shrinking
