Triumph Spitfire's on a variety of roads in Australia. Hopefully the sound recording helps anyone wondering
what a Spitfire might sound like. The vermillion red car has twin sports exhaust, Spax adjustable shocks, EFI running Megasquirt
and MX5 seats (the originals still need to be re-upholstered).
The Engine is well maintained, the gearbox reconditioned in 2015 and the diff had some minor repair work done (a complete a full rebuild to come).
If you're considering a MG Midget or Austin Healey Sprite, I suggest taking a Spitfire for a drive; you won't regret it.
Don't know anything about mechanics, but want to learn. this is the perfect car for the job. It helped me!

Triumph Spitfire 1500 Alpine Region Victoria Australia
About 2 or 3 hours in on my 4 hour drive home from Bright in Victoria. At about 1min 44 seconds in, listen for the 2 sports bikes pass then a Harley. This is a 100 kmh stretch of road.

The left is a used 'good' bearing. The right is only 18 months old - it failed and has now been replaced with a new bearing (not shown). Go to this link to hear the sound before removal th-cam.com/video/rYcwilUdUDM/w-d-xo.html .

Great roads around the Melbourne area in Australia. Speed limit is 80 kph. No need to speed here; it's perfect as is.

@@brycemacinnis512 the problem was inside the gearbox….sell the car
Input schaft release bearing Needs to be replaced, if not it can break your transmission
Any idea What the problem ??
how to fix issue what is possible issue
hey bro did u fixed th problem
So this repair was not a gearbox recon but an easy fix after removing gearbox? Mine is doing a similar thing (noise when off clutch) but I can also hear it whilst driving, did you have the same issue?
This was a while ago now and can't quite recall the sound while driving. I think it did by recollection. The history of the gearbox.. I pulled the gearbox apart in it's entirety. It needed a new lay shaft and bearings (including the one that went bad). Months later, the noise started, so out came the gearbox and I put a new bearing in again. Noise has now gone and it hasn't returned. In fact, the gearbox feels almost new from a simple recon and changing oil a few times. It was just a dodgy bearing.
@@rodf340 is it the release bearing?
same issue. did you fixed it?
@@mashariqnaveed1512 mine was the release bearing. New clutch was needed
do you think its the same ? th-cam.com/video/ZEwygUxvNJM/w-d-xo.html
I am having the same issue, thanks for the info
راشد الكعبي glad to be of help. An easy fix and very cheap if you do it yourself.
How to fix?
@@tomassaray1966 I suggest getting the workshop manual for instructions. Pulling a gearbox apart is job I was extremely nervous doing the first time. The second time was so much easier. Read instructions and take lots of pictures.
What was the problem? Throw out bearing? Mines doing the same on my R53 x
