Finally! The small dialogue animation that took me six months to complete is here! To be honest, this little addition to my portfolio didn’t take so long because the animation was hard, but there were a few factors that contributed to it;
Firstly, the technical side. I’ve been wanting to do an 11 second animation for a while now, as well as an animation featuring genuine-looking Undertale characters. It took forever, but I figured out how to convert #SFM models to Maya rigs! The only downside was that I had to create the rig systems for the characters completely by hand! You may also have noticed that this is my first animation where I seriously used simulated hair and cloth physics for the ears and cape. Learning and making all that took forever!
Secondly, my life has been a bit busy. Between working my 4(ish) jobs, taking care of my dogs, taking care of myself, and looking for a job, my time has been almost as limited as it was when I was in school!
Finally, motivation. I know I just said I didn’t have a lot of time, but at the same time, I feel like I did have a lot of time. It was just very hard to stay motivated to create animation, when day after day I would apply for hundreds of jobs, only to either be ghosted, or rejected. However, it seems like the holidays these past few months have filled me with #DETERMINATION , as now I am ready to make more cool stuff! Plus, I feel like this next season of my life may be the one where I get a job! 🤞
