Im curious as to if you are able to run now?
Wow, thanks for sharing your journey with this surgery. This makes me less anxious. ☺️
Wrecked my life
About how long did you take off of work post surgery>
Thank you for this. I am considering whether to have this surgery...
I've had three fusion surgeries about 5 years ago and I'm still in a tremendous amount of pain it's never gotten better Im from Philadelphia and these doctors at Penn medicine really fxxked me up I truly believe my surgeries was actually done for financial gain when I complained that I was still in pain it was like what else you want us to do the pain is still unbearable till today 😢.these doctors make it sounds all good but remember talk is talk but your body is going to tell you different so if you don't really need or you don't think is that bad don't get the surgery cause you will never heal please believe me
I'm sorry your surgeries hasn't helped. I had 4 opinions before I found my surgeon and he did a great job on my TLIF spinal fusion on my L4, S1 & L5. That was almost 2.5 yrs ago. It's helped a lot!
I pray my surgery goes this smooth
How are you now?
God bless you and your family 🙏🙏🙏
having surg in April. so appreciate these ideas

Thanks so much! I’m going in for the same surgery in 2 days. Would love to know how you are doing these days. Hopefully well!
I just came home today from this surgery it’s my saving grace I am in no pain expect for the incesion. Also I cannot lay in a bed period. I have to lay in a recliner but I am comfortable & am wearing a back brace & able to eat whatever I want. Right after surgery I was able to walk immediately & sit up in a chair with no pain or discomfort also I am not taking any pain meds either.
Thank you for this. I'm having this in a few months, and these stories are invaluable. I hope you're still doing well.
I just had one a week ago. I have been having the WORST restless legs and have up til 6 am twice cause I cant sleep
Thank you for sharing your journey. This will help a lot ease a lot of anxiety in people. Myself included. God Bless.
I just had a PLIF done 3 days ago and I’m not gonna lie….the pain sucks, the back brace sucks cause it digs into the 4” incision on the back and I’m bruised as hell. I went home same day and don’t have a PT appt for at least 2 weeks. Currently just taking Tylenol for the pain. Getting up out of bed and back in bed is extremely painful…feel like my spine is ripping apart. But I was up walking around with my back brace the day after the surgery. They say to keep walking…but with no walker or crutches….its really painful

I have surgery in January and I'm dreading it. But I need it terrible. So this video is awesome im gonna use some of her suggestions. But I will be documenting my journey
She could include that due to Sedation and Pain meds the first Bowel Movement will have you Screaming in Strange Tongues.Plan ahead. Stool Softners,Ice Packs,as well as Heat. Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate. Walker, and Cane. Daily Dressing changes. Good Idea too check your temperature from time too time. Different Level of Pain Surgery. Not easy, but in long term hopefully fixes one from where they were at as far as Mobility, and Pain.
Good luck, hope you feel better
Thank you for this most helpful video. You have a nice clear, concise voice. You should’ve been a teacher unless you already are. Big smile. I am having a lateral fusion on L34 and 23. I had an anterior fusion on 34 anS one to 24 years ago. I’m hoping this one is a little easier. One thing you didn’t mention that might be helpful is a raised toilet seat. I think that’s a must. Anyway, thanks so much for this information. very kind of you. Good luck to anyone else who’s having this rather intense but ideally healing procedure. 0:04
Thank you❤
Hi Jennae, my granddaughter is having spinal fusion surgery next week for scoliosis and your videos are very informative.
How long did it take before you felt the surgery was worth it? Meaning when you didn't think about the pain you had before surgery or when the post-op issues were less than pre-op? How long before you felt you were leading a better life all together?
I’d love to know what medication ended up working. I don’t take opioids so I’m always curious about other pain meds. I’m glad you’re able to rest. 🫶🏼
🎉
thanks so much for the tips.. my surgery is coming up in a month and I'm trying to manage my expectations...so this was very helpful. thanks
Hi can you contact me directly, when you can, thank you
I'm going for exact same thing Nov 11th. You helped big time with what to bring what to have. Hope you have fully recovered.
This is almost exactly what I have been enduring for more than a year now. I have severe Grade 2-3 spondylolisthesis ( or spinal slippage, I think). I was in a car accident months ago, in which a pars defect in my back gave way and shattered. There are floating bits of my spine in my back, essentially. I cannot move, sit, bend, lay, even SLEEPING, I am plagued with pain and aches in my very dreams. I am unable to work or drive, I am slipping into a maddening loop of depression and grief, and there seems to be no way out. I have been advised to get a surgery, but, like you, I am only 22. I’m scared of needing another fusion, then another and another until I am fused completely. I’ve been enduring this horrible pain for more than a year now, and during these past 5 months, it has been unbearable and constant. I don’t want to fuse my spine, but I see no way out. If you have any updates on your condition and quality of life, I would be beyond grateful. I haven’t seen a lot of good news whenever I look things up, and my research is halting and full of anxious tears at best. I hope you’re doing well, and again, if you have any sort of update concerning your condition and surgery, I would be so, so grateful.
You give me so much courage.
Got a pars fracture from pole vaulting in college with no symptoms (woot woot fellow track athlete) and got rear ended and herniated 2 discs recently. I got the ALIF at L5/S1 and a disc replacement at L4/L5. My incision is what is killing me! Ice on my stomach helps. My upper back muscles are all tight and painful too. Btw you are beautiful and you look great for 1 week out!
I’m supposed to go for my operation 2 weeks ago but kept postponing it now my pain is hitting the roof. I’m silently DEAD scared. I will be home a alone sometimes inevitably I hope to go to a rehabilitation facility. The pain affecting my feet badly. Getting all the goodies is excellent idea. I’m panicking about the finances of getting the necessary stuff please please pray for me. My pain tolerance level is very low.
You gotta take care of yourself sweet love. I just had emergency surgery. When I went to er first time they made me feel like I was an inconvenience and as if I was just faking the screaming and crying to send me home and tell me it's just sciatica and MRIs are for emergencies only bc I asked several times to please. I was in far too much pain for it to just be sciatica. I couldn't even stand up straight for them to take xrays without screaming. They treated and dismissed me as if that's normal. I don't know what addicts go in there and do but I imagine after crying for a month unable to get about lm sure I looked like a junkie but dammit it was an emergency now I'm living with nerve damage in my groin area. I'm 41 wearing diapers. After I left the er the first time about 2 days later I went numb and then proceeded to wait another 4 days to go to the er. Not to mention both times going was an incredible feat in itself. Nurses and doctors need to be taught some bed side manners. So treating people like an inconvenience for coming in. If you don't like your job. Go home. Had they listened to me the first time I wouldn't be wearing diapers and worrying about my husband leaving me cause of the obvious. I was so healthy. 125lbs 5'3" muscular. Now I'm 100 lbs. My muscles are wasting in my legs. I have cauda equina syndrom. I never heard of it before. Please take care is yourself and make them listen to you! God loves you and so do I. Take care.
Are you alive?
Thank you because that what I’m doing thank you so much
2024 how you are doing with the surgery?
I'm so glad I watched ur video, I found out yesterday that I'm gonna have to have this surgery done 😢I'm terrified, I didn't know it was such a invasive surgery 😮but I have to get it done, I'm in so much pain all the time 😢I don't wanna be in pain for the rest of my life😢 ur information is very helpful ❤
Did you have your surgery yet?
@ConE49 no I keep putting it off! I hate thought of anybody cutting on me I've had enough of that in my life
Thank you so much for taking your time and energy to create your videos. I have my surgery coming up on October 14th and your videos will help me to be more prepared and comfortable. ❤
Damn so you experience pain even after having surgery? I thought surgery was suppose to be the ultimate savior from pain..this isn’t reassuring. Wish you the best.
I am having this surgery in two weeks following a failed fusion from last December. Can you please message me on how your doing now. Was it a good decision? Do you feel better?
My dr sent me home in essence than 24 hrs and I was on my own w 2 dogs. It was insane. Please take time to recover yall. I'm a yr out and left side is so painful.
I’m on day 5, having muscle spasms when standing up. My back just tenses up and locks. Terrible.
SSDI keeps denying me with the pain I've had due to DDD. Even with lawyers, these assclowns refuse to allow me to stop. It's made things so much worse. Be careful. No one really cares about you. Only your insurance or money.
Sorry you had to go through this. I really think that nurse log rolling you ruined it for you. Believe that an engineer needs to design a bed that cal move you without you moving to get you to a standing position. Asking you to stand was stupid. There is no evidence based practice showing that standing up before 48 hours after surgery is a good idea. It's bullshit.
HAD L5S1 surgery done last monday9/16/24. Everything absolutely perfect. Until today. I had been sitting at my desk, lots of correspondence to take care of. About 3 hours. Got up , went to my mailbox. Half way there I took a step and just felt a little twinge in the butt area. Kept going, picked up mail , went back to desk. Read my paper. After 2 hours wanted to quit. I TRIED TO GET UP. HAD TO HOLD ONTO DESK OR DEFINITELY WOULD HAVE FALLEN. INTENSE PAIN IN SURGICAL AREA.I think I will be making a trip back to hospital. Followed orders perfectly. I am 80 years old😢
Your an inspiration god bless you 😢
Any updates pls I’m thinking of having surgery
Excellent pointers! My BIL is coming to stay with us after his surgery. I just ordered the back scratcher and a shoe horn. I have all the other items. Let me just add that a shoe horn is helpful when later down the road. Much appreciated!
