Interesting. Always heard they were fairy/gypsy braids. I’ve had horses on/off for almost the past 40 years. Just had the “braiding” about 3 years ago- my horses have had rat tails/dreadlock messes due to crazy windy conditions/rolling, etc. But have had a few instances of perfectly neat braids in the main; not overly tight, but enough to stay neatly in place. Makes one wonder.

Gary’s wife sez: you are extremely awesome person and that you are proud of all of your ancestors and have respect for all of their cultures. I have seen so many people that have 1/4 or 1/8 Native American blood who absolutely embrace that tribal culture and yet very vocally make it clear that they h^+€ the three-quarter or 78 European blood of their ancestors. All these makes people are so completely confused and many are extremely ignorant by choice. My husband is 50% Picuris Pueblo (NM) blood and 50% Scots/Irish blood. He dearly loves his entire ancestry. Due to that, he is horrifically despised by the tribal people of his modern extended family and has walked away from them. So sad that there is such a distinct bias.
