    This is a good post. As someone who is a DNP-FNP and pursuing PMHNP, I wonder if my traditional conservative values can be expressed in the PMHNP role given how liberal and woke psychiatry and therapy tends to be from schooling and in practice and among peers. I would like to see more of this. Thank you for posting this. It's been on my mind a lot.

    I will remove comments that are demeaning or unkind to the DNPs who worked their tails off for their doctoral degrees. You will not put down nurses on my channel... Just FYI, opinions are like belly buttons, everyone has one and that doesn't mean they are useful for anything.

  • @LeonardoLion
    @LeonardoLion ปีที่แล้ว

    You don't do the exact same thing as doctors. There's a lot of things you don't know that you don't know. NP's were meant to deal with the bread and butter cases; they were not meant to have their own practices. This is a huge issue with patient safety. You're not providing midlevel care, but at the end of the day, you're a midlevel practitioner. You didn't go to med school, but you're also not a nurse; you're an advanced practice nurse. You're right in the middle, and it's not a good idea for lawmakers to allow Nurse Practitioners who don't have the knowledge to run their own practices. I see Nurse Practitioners asking for help on a patient through Facebook all the time. Although there are good NPs, there's a lot of NP programs allowing anyone to get a degree to become an NP. Especially online NP programs.

    • @thesuccessnp
      @thesuccessnp ปีที่แล้ว

      @LeonardoLion We have never claimed to provide the same service as physicians. This podcast clearly states that we have different roles and all work together (MDs, PAs, APRNs) to help facilitate patient access to medical care. Also, I have been in conversations where physicians ask one another for help with challenging cases, so it should be comforting to see NPs asking for help- not pretending to know what they are doing. I am not about turf wars, but about presenting options to NPs for their careers. Thanks for your perspective. Wish you all the best.

    • @patriciawright4122
      @patriciawright4122 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting perspective considering the recent pandemic required nurses like no body's business. Now, it's "we're not skilled to do anything but beside." News flash: there is not a huge rush of students seeking to become an MD AND given the way the economy is looking, I won't be surprised when doctor programs also become hybrid and more education is applied to NP. We cost less than you do, and demand more for our patients.

    • @LeonardoLion
      @LeonardoLion 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@patriciawright4122 Nurses are amazing and is a very respectable career. Nurse practitioners are good when working under a doctor and dealing with bread and butter cases. Nurse practitioners who think they’re doctors are a joke. Yes, you cost less to hospitals and to clinics to hire. You get what you pay for though. Nurse practitioners can’t get the knowledge of a doctor in the 2 years they go to school or the 2 years of online school. It ultimately puts the patients at risk.

    • @LeonardoLion
      @LeonardoLion 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thesuccessnp In a formal setting, it’s absolutely acceptable to ask for help from colleagues or a doctor. To ask for help on Facebook groups is absurd.

    • @blacknurse7
      @blacknurse7 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @LeonardoLion A few key points: medical education does not stop after school or residency, doctors consult NPs when they feel uncertain, NPs have sent patients to physician specialist and the patients did not always improve from the "quality care". We don't claim to be physicians. Sometimes, a physician is not needed to treat a medical condition. We practice to the extent of our education and training. With experience, we don't need oversight.

Yes my income will be cut in 1/2 but the freedom to focus on my goals for the future means more to me. I almost purchased a luxury car but bc of my financial knowledge I decided to save monthly the amount I would have spent on the car. My aunt introduced me to investing in real estate 🏡 & I am on fire because God has made it crystal clear what direction I need to go in. Inspiring podcast. I am a disabled male with cerebral palsy and it was caring emphatic nurses like you who inspired me to start phychology at University at 54. Nursing is dominated by women where real estate is the opposite. In real estate you have to be ruthless and most men have narcissistic traits. Nursing you need compassion and empathy the complete opposite. Nurses need not be intimidated as they work under pressure with resilience. Just stand your ground and compete with god’s blessing and you will succeed,
