Great solid content, thank you.
Great tone! Have you ever compared it to JIMS 45?
I traded an old amp with some problems (which were disclosed) and got a JP70. I love it. The pickups are slightly muddy but it plays great. I wasn’t sure I’d like it but now I’m looking into getting the 6 string version. If the 6 string is as good as the 7 string version I’ll love it. It does really good tuned to drop c with the 7th string tuned to g and plays great with 11-70 gauge strings.
You didn't twist the wires on your pickups?
Heh…it works fine. Do I lose magic tone?
Just bought this exact guitar so thanks for the rundown on an upgrade and looking forward to doing something similar down the line. All the best!
If you want tele twang but not overly brittle these Pure Vintage 64s do the trick. I also have a brass saddle so that tones it down a bit.
I'm about to buy this guitar today and I'm excited while I wait for it to be dropped off. I like that they're easily modded, and I've read good things about the quality of this model in particular. Cheers! 🎸
But I thought it was analog dirt controlled by digital control?
Honestly don’t know. Don’t have it anymore but with a darker amp I think it would work quite well.
@; I looked it up on Boss’ website; it is analog dirt/ digital controlling.
I like the way you play Jay. Nothing flashy (neither can I!) but everything you play, you play well - tight. Good sounds w/ the Orange too!
Thanks. I just try to sound like what I like. Not a shredder but I can rock tight with the best of them. Lol.
This is an awesome video, sold me on the OD200. Amazing pedal.
Which reamer did you use?
Honestly I don’t remember it was beat to crap. You could probably get away with some light sandpaper rolled up. They are close to drop in. YMMV. You may just get lucky and they’ll fit. I think 1 or 2 of them popped right in. It seems like the Squiers are inconsistent with the measurements.
boss dd3t settings for solos?
E. Level 8 o’clock. Feedback 10:30. Time 1 o’clock. Mode 800 ms. I am running through the loop so you may need to adjust to taste but this will get you in the ballpark.
@@efxloopjaybyrne do you use it always on or mostly for solos?
Cool review. Good job. Considering one of these myself.
Best demo on that amp showing all the settings, different volume breakup etc - Thank you !!!
Does hipshot make split shaft tuners for squire?
Not sure. I know the ones i bought were the best fit I could find.
Hi Jay, thanks for sharing. I have watched with interest your amp journey and you helped me settle on a Katana Artist. Keep up the interesting and entertaining content, it's always fun to watch other musicians journey and although we all head off on tangents sometimes it's good to see you come back to some normality eventually. It looks like you have a really solid gear collection and your playing just gets better and better. Thanks for the conntinued entertainment. Cheers
Thanks for the kind words.

Hey man, watched your JC40 demo, do you regret selling it? I just love the cleans so much, they're unique.. I'm hesitating between JC40, JC22, Deluxe Reverb TM all for home use. I'm kind of done with tube amps, too much can go wrong.. Thx!
I totally regret selling it. I actually want a JC120 even though I don’t need it.
@@efxloopjaybyrne I hear ya.. I don't need it either, but i feel like I just need that JC40.. JC120 is too loud for home use or so I hear
Collecting” to me feels like a genetic predisposition. Been doing it since a kid with all sorts of natural objects like rocks, shells, and plants; in contrast to man-made toys (e.g. hot wheels), miniature figures, playing cards, board games, pogs, and many other games (including desktop computer as well as console games)… office supplies like markers, pens, stationary papers, and other arts utilities. At a point even perfume scents and jewelry. Then books and music media, and recording and playing equipment like camera lenses etc. Of course, much of the earlier stuff like toys were given away or left behind after moving places… I mean, I’ve lost interest in many of those things, but kept coming back every few years to some other stuff or found new things to obsess over. But I’ve never probably fixated over one thing as much as text, photo, audio and physical or digital media. It’s just all pieces of “information” in the end… whereas the brain feeds on the data. Eventually there will be memory loss and degradation, much later it will all but completely disintegrate as well. Lol. I like to think of it as simply a very natural spontaneous thing that occurs from very early on… keeping something - anything - no matter how futile alive.
Is there a way around not having the foot switch? Can I still add a looper pedal?
Man, I applaud the fact you’re demoing this amp while riffing with a great feel. So many demos online are not musical!! This was a really useful demo for me thank you 🙏.
I buy every single classic vibe tele that I can get 2nd hand for under $275. I think it would be dumb not to. I’ll take as many as I can get. Absolutely the best value out there for electric guitars.
Especially the MIC ones. I gave away a 50's blonde/50's butterscotch and a 60's one. Regret getting rid of the 50's butterscotch and 60's ones. Both were as good as or better than all my MIM teles.
@ I actually don’t agree with you on that. The Chinese ones in my experience are waaaaay too heavy. I traded in my MIC classic vibe, and now I absolutely will not buy them unless they’re made in Indonesia
@@Pdbottleneck Actually the MIC ones that I gave away and the 2 I still have are no heavier than the 2 MII ones I have and have done work on. The 50's MIC one I gave away was the lighest one I've ever played/worked on. I kinda regret getting rid of it because of getting ready to put another b bender tele together for myself. The first run of the China ones had better hardware Tuners/pickups/ brass saddles/better cut nut etc' tighter neck pocket better aligned bridge' less P/U on the neck. Either way' for the money the SCV's are the best deal on a tele' stock or to mod. Yeah if you can get them for around that price' I don't blame you.
@@BryanClark-gk6ie ok I will definitely keep all of that in mind and moving forward I won’t just assume that all MIC classic vibes are worse. I shouldn’t have held that assumption in the first place, I know better than to generalize like that. But I’ll still buy the Indonesian ones in heartbeat sight unseen lol
Great video. The Squier Classic Vibe 60's Telecaster is awesome. I bought one a year or so ago, with the view to modding it. I upgraded my bridge to a gotoh bridge very like yours. I did get a new set of tuners also, actual Fender classic gear tuners, for just over €60. I also changed the stock pickups with a setup of JJ's P90 Simulcast pickups, from a pickup maker in Australia, these are awesome, but to be honest, your stock pickups sound amazing through the Orange Crush!
is it impossible to use solo without a foot switch? Mine is mk2 50 and there's literally no solo nobe on it, but it's in the tone studio..
Unless you have the artist there is no solo button on the amp (maybe the 100 has one but I don't remember). So, yes, you would need a footswitch. Personally, I find the solo function a bit convoluted.
@@efxloopjaybyrne Thank you
Very helpful advice friend. This works & opened up a world of possibilities. Rock on 80’s metal
I just ordered a JC 22...it will be my only amp. I am pretty much only interested in clean sounds plus love the I/Os and FX Loop it offers. 30w is plenty for home/studio use. Roland Jazz Chorus is an iconic, classic amp !
I sold a Marshall amp to buy my JC-22 :) never had regrets!! I play on it all the time
The katana three and I know this video is two years old. Also black star now has one. I got 100 W head two not the artist I don’t like the effects.
Do you think something from the Katana range is a good first guitar amp or should I look at something different?
yeah, everything from the katana range is good as a first guitar amp
Definitely an excellent first amp. You’ll get effects and a decent amp all in one. Man if I’d have had amps like this when I started. It’s a good time to be a guitar player.
The Red and Green connectors are 2.5 - 2.1 mm barrel connectors. The black connectors are 2.1 mm only. The Red connector has reverse polarity. This is all described in the manual you held up to the screen ( unless of course they reprinted the manual at some stage).
Patience of a saint. Top guy.
Good video man. I use the Boss Tone Studio on my Katana and the version for the Boss GT1 effects pedal. Using the Tone Studio can make both of these wake up. I setup my four patches for the Katana for straight use. I actually run the GT1 into the Katana power amp in when playing live for multiple patches.
Can you plug this into your computer USB to assign and trigger a bass drum in a VST like EZ Drummer?
I don't think so. I don't think it has midi. It's much simpler. I actually sold mine and I have a SPD SX on the way. I love the functionality of it but I want more.
Collector from Finland 🇫🇮, hi 🤓 over 30 years of buying and storaging movies, series and soundtracks. Love to own personal library of entertainment history. little like you, I am only one in our familytree who is addicted to physical media, weirdo who dont like streaming services even those are cheap and contain 'everything" you want to watch. Kid has point, LARGE collection is stupid (your collection looks good size, though👍). But it is also stupid to not even own any mediaplayers and think you can find everything from digital libraries, when ever you want, just like that. Personally, I think everyone should have, atleast, those top10 favorites on their shelves as book, cd, vhs, dvd, bluray.... what ever. As you said, we can never know when they are removed from streaming. Or edited! Look what Amazon just did to It's Wonderful Life 👎 It would been iteresting to be around when, 10-20 years from now, todays young are grown up and try to find their favorite games to play. Everything nowdays are in places like Steam, good luck to find those in future. Like myself, loved those original Angry Birds games... released just, what, 10(?) years ago, yet you cant buy/download those from any netstore anymore. Collecting good, hording bad, streaming lazy.... we all pick our poisons. One's trash, anothers treasure. And so an 😶
Great points. I really feel like I just wanted to have a home theater with my favorite films. I've bypassed that now but I guess I achieved my goal but it never ends. With 4K being my end game (I am not going to go any further than that, no need to) it drives me crazy rebuying my favorite films but now I am curating rather than blind buying. At least that's what I tell myself. Lol.
You should try PTFE Tape, 'plumber's tape'. Much finer. I use it on the thread of Strat trem arms to take up any slack.
There, kind of new to this. Where would this go in the signal chain?
Being a plugin it sort of works as your amp. Hope that makes sense. If you were using a real one it would be the preamp part of your head. you would run it into the effects loop return to replace the preamp and go into the power amp. It gets weird but you could plug straight into your interface and use this as your amp sim.
that's pretty damn close to my "real" one... that's insane
I agree with the comments on the power amps. I have the Nextone Artist.
How does this perform in the front end of ss and tube amp? Thanks
Not great in the front end. You need to run it in the return of the effects loop to get it to sound right.
I was on the fence about getting one....and then you played the Kids in the Hall theme song...have to get it!!
Everything you talked about here is why I no longer will buy anything from GC ever again. I recently gave them another shot when I read the new CEO was making big changes. Until GC offers customer service and tech support like Sweetwater, I will not shop there.
Yeah, I've yet to see these changes in store. The only thing I saw was that they have some high end guitars ($2700 Gibsons) up front and you can play them easy. I tried a Les Paul and realized it din't feel any different than the Epiphones I've been playing for years. I always say if you set up and Epi well you get like 90% of the way there.
Swap the pods and cap, sand the neck.
Im content being a blu ray collector
I wish I hadn't gone the way of 4K and just stayed with Blu. I'm too deep into it now to stop. They got me. Lol.
I have mostly blu ray in my small collection of physical movies. I have a few 4ks like for the Dune movies or Top gun. For the majority of movies a blu ray is fine. I never want to have a collection too big but for the ones I know ill watch multiple times.
I’ve “accumulated” stuff over the years. 😎
Hi, Happy Holidays. Enjoy collecting. I been buying. Selling, collecting since age 14. Now 61. I collect TV and Movie Memorabilia, lobby cards, posters, etc.
Hello, is this amplifier with tubes or with transistors ? Is this a good quality amplifier I mean about the sound ? What kind of sinus power has ? My son is playing on Dave Murray Seymour Duncan picups installed on a Fender Stratocaster and I am interested to fit with this amplifier. Let me know please.
I would go with a Boss Katana Artist Gen 3 over this one. It has built in effects and is gigable if he forms a band. Definitely an amp he could grow with. The Nextone if finicky.
@@efxloopjaybyrne thank you.
Im 54 and still collecting movies since 1984
Thanks for playing loud. The little cabinet doesn't have the thump for heavy distortion.
G5427??
The 27 are Guitar Center exclusives. Basically just a 20 but exclusive finishes.
I have been trying to hunt down a movie poster I saw displayed at a theater years and years ago. It really freaked me out as a kid. This would have been between 75-77. I don't remember what the movie was,, but it was a horror movie. As I remember it, there were pictures and text down the right side of the poster describing people who went crazy from seeing it. I've looked online but I've never found any answers. Did you see anything like this when you were making this video?
No sorry but i will keep an eye out. Sounds cool.
I love Squirm!! And that poster is epic. Just love it. It reminds me of old black light posters :)
The Maniac poster is one of these rare birds of exploitation cinema, where the poster delivered exactly what it promised.
No, not your only amp. It's a foot pedal with amp and speakers. Great for a dedicated sound. But you need an Orange tube amp for the gain and overdrive. No pedals needed
You can disagree with me, but I think there are certain pedals where the tone surpasses that of a natural gain regardless of the amp, like the Moth Effects P. Isabella for example, I've never heard a tone that sounds quite as glorious as that pedal, I am a pedal elitist after hearing it in person ((my friend has one)) everyone who plugs into his setup is like "wow I need one now" .... arguably the best green russian clone out there :)
