    A large part of the amp disappearing/getting smaller too is the fact most kids are just sitting in their rooms recording instead of playing out. It was very revealing to me when I started looking online for used equipment to get back to analog gear. I wanted a 2x12 for my head but they were a bit scarce and ridiculously priced. However, 4x12 cabs were everywhere and under $200! Marshall 4x12 were a dime a dozen used, but looked forever for a half decent 2x12 that was in my price range.

    You said that the amp wants volume. How much are we talking about? I'd be comfortable playing it between 75-85 db but not 90-100.

    • @efxloopjaybyrne
      @efxloopjaybyrne 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If your playing clean you can play at low comfortable volumes. If you want edge of breakup or gain you can get it just above louder tv volume with the attenuator at its lowest position. But you sacrifice sound quality. The amp with gain of any kind doesn’t sound great unless it’s pushing some air. In those cases it can creep up around 90 or so db.

    Would you recommend pairing it with a volume attenuator pedal like JHS little black amp box or boss tube amp expander?

    • @efxloopjaybyrne
      @efxloopjaybyrne 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Definitely don’t need the tube expander. Actually I don’t think it would work for that. Now that I think about it there’s no effects loop so I don’t think the little black box would work either. With the attenuator on the back you can get the deluxe pretty low. You lose sound quality a bit but just to mess around and practice it would be fine. You could plug it into your daw and use studio monitors for a more silent practice. Hell you could use headphones with it that way.

      In the folder for the one that doesn’t work delete info file. I think it’s a .txt file. On one of the ones that work copy that text file to the folder to replace the one that didn’t work. If this makes sense try it out. If you watch my video I show the folder structure if you need a refresher. I love this video. It's super cool and authentic that she's in there too and you just kept rolling. We are one of the many artist that went the Roland SPDX route to load simply backing tracks. We're a duo and while we do switch off playing various instruments on stage, we needed a way to trigger drums and back up vocals and bass and pretty much the meat and potatoes of the song while we embellish the performance on top. So ya, we took the time to learn the spdx, however, after seeing this video, this is what we're going to switch to. Especially cause it can be used as a pedal to kick with the foot. The SPDX you need an external trigger pedal to launch the backing tracks otherwise ya gotta have it up and mounted and tap or hit it with a stick. Definitely designed for drummers who are behind the kit and are running the click throughout the set and such. Anywho, long message, just wanted to write and say rock on for making this and never stop creating music. :) Cheers ~ The Parker Story

    • @efxloopjaybyrne
      @efxloopjaybyrne 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks man. I really love how simple this thing is plus you can tap it with your foot to trigger which is really convenient. I didn’t realize you needed drum triggers for the bigger unit. I though it has the trigger pads on it. Interesting. The big boy is just way more than I need and like I was saying I guess that’s why Roland made these so simple.

    The reason that it sounds muddy on the lowest power setting is because your not driving the speaker at its optimal level. A 10 inch speaker would tighten up the lower volume fidelity! I’ve found that a modest tweak up on the treble helps.

    Yes, Mohegan Sun Arena is an excellent place to see a concert. Just the past couple of months George Thorogood. John Fogerty, Roger Daltrey, Brad Paisley, Elvis Costello, Daryl Hall, Counting Crows, Cheap Trick and others have played there and the free Wolf Den lounge on weekends features a lot of up-and-coming acts, local bands, as well as other groups that don't have as large followings. If you're a gambler, you get free tickets to all the concerts. I was at the Greta van Fleet concert and actually the sound levels there were pretty tolerable. (There are bands that exceed listenable levels like Shinedown and the heavy metal shows.) What Greta was doing was using heavy, heavy compression to make things sound louder and it results in ear fatigue as every note is pushed to 100%. (Unfortunately, most bands are using too much compression.) I felt Greta was using it to excess as well as adding echo and verb to the vocals. I couldn't understand the lyrics to any of the songs. I didn't understand the comparisons to Led Zeppelin I had read about either. I thought they sounded like the group Yes. Josh Kiszka has an incredible voice, but he doesn't sing clearly and isn't disciplined in using it. The rest of the band is clearly talented, but they're not disciplined and they're all over the place musically. And they could use some songwriting lessons. As for the flame cannons, I guess I've just seen them used by bands too many times. They're more annoying than dramatic. My wife and I usually stay to the very end of every concert, especially since we've seen some great encores from artists, but we had enough of Greta and left either during the last song or the second to last song. We just had enough. We found The Beaches to be more accessible and more enjoyable. My wife did hear that some Greta fans were disappointed with the band. They said the sound wasn't good and they've been better in the past. Anyway, I hope you will make it out to Mohegan Sun again. It's an excellent place to see a concert, and for a small arena, they get acts that usually play larger venues. On recent tours by Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Bruce Springsteen, it's been the smallest venues those artists played. Most artists comment on how well the casino treats them.

    • @Tityretupatulae

    Hi Jay! Yes, the first batch of Room18 songs (The New, Final Episode, 2nd Stage, and Bundy) were recorded using a Marshall Artist 3203 head into a 4x10 cab. It had a solid state preamp section, with 1x12AX7 and 2x EL34s for power. It was only 30 watts but sounded bigger! IMHO it sounded great. I think my favorite sound from that is the rhythm guitar on the breakdown in 2nd stage. Kudos to Russ Martin too for making us sound good. That amp lasted until I blew it up (I was clueless about amps and think I left it powered on at some point without being plugged into a speaker/load). From there I went and bought a Marshall JCM600 (60 watts) tube head that I wish I never sold. It sounded good but I think the 3203 was punchier. -Rob M.

    I installed these on my classic vibe Tele about a week ago. The hardest for me was removing the old bushings. Putting stress on the neck didn't seem like a good idea to me. I rigged up a little crude jig with a c clamp and small socket. I was able to press out the bushing. At first I thought I was going to have to do the same thing. All I did was take a slightly larger drill bit to take off just a hair. It was like counter sinking when you drill. I did it by hand and just removed a hair of wood. I didn't even have to do the whole hole. So I am glad to have used the Hipshots. Way better than the stock tuners. Plus I could remove the string tree. Good video and I think you have a new luthier/musician in training. Good to see a young person having curiosity in your guitars.

My brother has the Gibson version of the sg and they both play the same and sound the same. After comparing the two guitars, there is a difference in the head and neck area. The epiphone has just alittle more meat that area which that area on gibsons are prone to break. All in all, I love my sg.

    Great demo. Make sure that you cherish every moment that your daughter spends with you because they grow up fast. They are very precious in the Lord’s eyes. She is a darling little girl and she loves her daddy. This is what life is all about..🙏🙏

    The knobs are 2 pickup volume 1 main tone 1 main volume with treble bleed. Gretsch is owned by Gretsch, Bigsby is owned by Gretsch, Fender does the marketing, shipping etc. In my experience Gretsch's will play everything from chicken picken country to metal, Ive owned hollow body, jet, corvette models. Single coil, ft and bt pickups, all good. Had a Setzer model but it was stolen.

    I have the Twin. Here's what I think. Drive pedals don't sound right, no matter what. At unity volume, they are going to work best. But, then they sound tinny & fizzy. Tone Master Amps are awesome. But they are meant to sound like the amp the uh are emulating, without the use of pedals. I run mine at home on the lowest setting & crank the volume to get some drive. Bliss.

      I have to say that I have found the Princeton TM to sound the best with dirt. Now by dirt I mean Tube Screamer, Timmy and a Klon style pedal. I am using an HX Effects and I find that if I stack overdrives I can get good results. Straight up high gain pedals sound bad but then they sound bad on Tube black panel amps too.

    It's too clean. It would make a great studio preamp.
