That 1982 SMU team was as good as any. I don't believe Penn St could have stopped Dickerson or James. People forget PSU lost to Bama 42-21 that season and Bama ran for like 300 yds. Bobby Collins should have tried to win that Arky game with couple throws to the end zone. He had to have known a tie was gonna be looked at as a loss.
Erik Williams was a relentless Animal . 6’6”/325 with footwork like that ! Unreal ( before accident ).
RIP to both of these men.
I respect the fact that Eric has NEVER snitched on anyone.
Respect
Here's my question, at the time just how did both Graig James & Eric Dickerson both felt when the NCAA drop the death penalty on SMU? What I mean the moment when it happen that is. Follow up do both gentlemen still hold a grudge towards the NCAA to this day? Thank you for your time.
#51 hit you on a dead run. Ask any ball carrier what type of collision HURTS the MOST! No one in there right mind forgets that pain!
It’s Craig James, you jackass.
The new version of Cowboys need to watch that
The greatest O-Line of all time.
Playing in the mud was awesome..Astroturf sucks
I didn't know Gale played LB too in College
Total Gentleman Butkus & Sayers
😅
Eric was honest. College players were getting paid to play for a long time.
It’s Craig James you moron
Clayton Holmes wore that jersey too from Florence SC
The NFL will Never be the Same Without the Washington Redskins And Roger Starbach thats my opinion. He definantly Earned Captain Comeback cause he Was the best.
My childhood Hero! Roger will always be my favorite Dallas Cowboy!
Cowboys offensive linemen - so many to pick from over the years......
The Great Wall of fame🤩
Uh, I'm pretty sure that is CRAIG James ...
Their is only one Captain Comeback
Craig James
Yep they were amazing
Back in the days QB protected themselves from getting hit. These last generation they expect the NFL to protect them. Big difference
CRAIG James. Sheeesh
The pageant dad who killed Texas Tech’s program….
Eric Dickerson was all about the money.. he was a thug way back then and a big mouth... allways trouble.. I remember them days.....
Best ever!!
Butkus was the greatest middle linebacker ever , a one man wrecking crew
Less preaching, more cooking. In three-and-a-half minutes, you mentioned The Word twice, Brother Les' ministry to the Prophets, Christ, Acts 25, Isaiah, three chapters of Daniel, Noah, and God's Garden, and finally, you signed off with "God bless you, in Jesus' name." I watched this video to learn how to cook liver mush. If I want to hear a sermon, I'll go to church.
Gail sayers was one of the first to cut back against the grain and lay folks out.. Only OJ Simpson coukd do this but much later.. As for Butkus the league never ever so will again see a player go so far out.. Butkus just blasted everyone.. His tackles were beyond anything ever saw and perhaps there will never be another person so great and hard hitting as Dick Butkus.. I never was a bear fan but tuning in to sayers and Butkus as a real treat.. bar none..
Roger Staubach is not my Idol, but Our Brother In Christ, Fellow Trooper, (USArmy Of One Reserve At Your Service National Guard FOR US Go NAVY!) Fellow U.S. Citizen, Our Gift From Mr. & Mrs. Staugbach's, Their Son, Our Captain Got Yo Bach, Roger That. See Ya At Kingdom Come, Brother.
Legends. Never see this again. Ever.
I lived in Dallas for three years and never saw SMU. I hung out in Greenville Ave often to. It wasn’t until I came back and was visiting a friend did I see the campus. Got off on the wrong exit across Central Expressway. It is literally two buildings in a small park.
RIP Dick Butkus
In all honesty, every team knew the offense was running the ball 80- 90% of the time. Different day and age in football. Defense could easily key on opponents running game.
How do the Bears get them both in the same draft? Halas must have loaded the dice. 😂
This is also back when Chicago was a great city! Now it’s a shit hole, run by idiots. So sad
"shame on the bears! shame on them you had two of the greatest players they expected butkus and sayers to take them to the championship". shame on the lions! shame on them! they had to of the greatest players they expected sanders and johnson to take them to the championship... fan since 66 I've had the pleasure of watching 4 of the greatest players to not go to a championship~ as a fan the hardest part of that statement is how deserving these goats were and knowing how totally inept ownership let them go down in history with a blemish on their resume! they should be in jail for how completely ignorant they were!
No one has come close to topping that draft year - Dick Butkus and Gale Sayers in the same round, are you kidding me?! 🙂
yep ole dick buttkiss
Thanks for this. The sound or picture quality didn't matter after 5 minutes. The story was captivating. Two forces of nature that could not be stopped. Long live 40 & 51.
Yeah The Bears had Dogshit Quarterbacks from the Mid 60's until the mid 80's and that's why these two legends never made the Playoffs (They didn't have wild card playoffs back then either)
Yep. Bobby Douglas and Virgil carter are two qb come to mind also as bad. In all honesty, Harbaugh stunk when he played for the bears. I think Douglas may have been the hardest about of all times.
These 2 guy's was the Greatest at their position of all times even though Chicago had losing seasons they were great. RIP Dick the monster and Gale the Kansas comet.
When Men were Men 💪🏿💪🏻
Rest in peace Dick butkus you will be missed
Dick. Buck. Was. ..the. .Best. bears.... Ever
As much as I loved Coach Landry, he actually held Roger's ability down. They lost Super Bowl five because he would not put Roger in because of a silly rule he had. Joe Namath in the pregame show mentioned the entire league knew Craig Morton had a tendon injury like John Unitas and no longer had his cannon arm.
shut those motherfucking birds up
