2003 Polaris Sportsman 700 "Billy Bad A$$" Gets New Axles, Shocks, and Bushings... Finally!
I know this video is a bit long, but there's a lot in it. It took about 4 weeks to film this video due to getting sick, going out of town, and waiting on parts (more than once). You may notice there are changes to the quad during the video, that's because while I was waiting on parts I worked on other things like changing the fluids and upgrading the exhaust. Anyway... enjoy!

when you pressurized the hose to max what psi did you reach ?
@@scottdilalla I set the hose at about 120 psi and it stays there even when the compressor kicks on. I’m a little afraid to max out the hose, but the tank stayed at 175 when I set the hose to 120.
Enjoying watching the progress on the 700. Looking forward to the next video.
@@josephlee6740 thank you very much for watching this series! Here’s a little heads up for you… in the next video in the series it gets power steering and moves under its own power. That’s coming on October 24th.
hi sorry give me the link of your cart to lift, I bought one but it is too short I can't lift it. hi thanks
@@max4459 hey Massimo this one will work if you can get it (or one like it) a.co/d/7efmBLZ
Is the fortress 27g worth it or should I pick up the 26g ultra quiet
@@chiliewhilie84 I’m really happy with the 26g ultra quiet for my use. It doesn’t get used every day and it keeps up incredibly well with even my biggest impact, air hammer, die grinders, and everything else I’ve connected to it. And it is really quiet.
Thanks for making these! Definitely helping out a ton!
@@kabrelpino1417 glad you found them useful! That’s exactly why I made this short series, I couldn’t find anything on this so I just decided to figure it out myself and share it.
Love your videos!! Appreciate the time it takes to make em !! 👍🏻👍🏻
@@robertpiontkowski2164 well thank you my friend! I appreciate your comments and really appreciate you watching these videos and supporting my passion!
I’ve had the same issue on my 500 and 570. It’s when you’re riding around and getting the brakes extremely warm and then driving into freezing water will cause them to crack.
@@hunterstokely8438 I was wondering how
“To drain the rust out.” 😂 Pretty sure the idea is to drain it before the rust is created, but…could be wrong 🤷🏼♂️
Do you still like air compressor fortress?
@@jimfeaster4837 I do, I love it. Actually have a follow up video coming soon.

Ooga dooga machine? Thats hilarious 😂

@@josephlee6740 well thank you! I really appreciate your kind words and I appreciate you!
Yeaster day I installed that kit on my 2024 Polaris 570 EPS. It was so easy a caveman could do it.
Update: The hand warmers are not getting very hot as opposed to the throttle which is getting hot as hell. I don't know what the deal is with the hand warmers.
Nice project 👍 creasy to find such machine in good shape after so many years when it's done... ship it to Belgium if you know were it is 🤣🤣 i don't have the money to buy it but I will take care of Billy Bad Ass hahaha your videos are nice te watch... keep going 😉
What is the going price in your area for a 2004-5 polaris sportsman 700?
@@andrewinsinga2993 between 3-4K depending on condition.

I bought yesterday a DeWalt combo, and I'm not feeling very happy. I was in harbor freight and comparing what I was about to buy. DeWalt hammer drill with impact driver 2 batteries and charger $200 Hercules hammer drill with impact driver 2 batteries and charger $220 Of course I choose DeWalt. When I get home DeWalt hammer trigger was broken, when to the store and bought glue and fix the new drill and now it's working perfectly fine. But as you said before "DeWalt it looks cheap"
@@0779risingsun man that sucks. Thank you for your comments, it really means a lot. I feel like if I were to go back to name brand power tool it would honestly be Milwaukee but since I’m just a home shop guy they are just too expensive for me.
What are your thoughts on the Polaris sportsman 600 What I have seen is they are carburetor and a mechanical fuel pump which is similar to my current suzuki king quad 300 4x4
@@andrewinsinga2993 I like them. The 600 and 700 are both twins and essentially the same. I’m currently building a 2003 700 on the channel. Only real thing to watch out for is coolant in the oil. Blown head gasket is common if they ever overheat. Other than that the chassis is similar to this 500. I still think the sportsman is the best riding most comfortable quad you can get, pretty much no matter what year.
As much as I like my suzuki king quad 300 4x4 and the capabilities are very nice but I need a machine that rides a bit smoother because I am not a young man anymore
Don't waste your time weak content.
I like your button shirt...yeahh!!! Yeah it was stupid design to do lower control arm on these newer jeeps WOW!!!
Man, nice video but man you need to cut the music !
@@markcollins5026 thanks for watching and your comments. This is an early channel video (2 years ago), really didn’t know what I was doing. While I still won’t claim to know what I’m doing, I feel that I have found my “groove” with my videos. Again, thanks for watching and for your constructive comments, it is much appreciated!
Man, nice finally a video in the desert, I live in Arizona all the videos on this quad are in muddy trails going through the woods, and flat as a pancake, I also live in the desert, I have a new 570 trail on order !
Great video’s, I did the same thing to my 02 sportsman. The one thing I don’t like about my big gun evo u is that the packing has to be replaced every 25 to 35 hours. I also had to replace the spark arester. Maybe think about power steering next, it’s worth every penny. Super Atv has a kit pretty reasonable. Thank you for the video’s.
@@danielbaker7293 funny you mention the power steering… I’m not saying that’s part of the plan or anything, but maybe it’s already been ordered and delivered… but sssshhhh… it’s a secret
Nice install. To clarify, the 2 Y harnesses are to combine the bar and the pods, and feed into the Polaris light bar harness? Is there a way to set it to the already installed high beam switch that’s not janky? Or “this is the way”
@@RC.56 this is just the way I did it. You could tie to high beam switch as long as you still use a relay so it pulls power from the battery instead of the existing wiring b
My 2022 Sportsman 570 has been utterly reliable and problem free. I also have the smaller 300 model from 2015. We also have a 2015 Ranger Diesel and a 2023 XP 1000. Big fans of Polaris here!
@@davidbuck5864 same, we love our 570’s. Just picked up a 2003 Sportsman 700 twin that I have been building back better (I hope).
Dude that oil filter is incredibly tight. I tried for 2 hours and had to give up until i can get another tool to attack it (filter pliers)
I like your style dude. Keep at it . Skill takes time to acquire
anyone know if the dewalt hoses compatible? love my vacuum but i have been rough on the hose, which now has duct tape on it so ii need a new one. don't see a replacement or upgrade on HF.
what fuel pack is that on the back? i cant find this type of jerry can and mount for my 22 trail. and how are thoes added lights from harbor? have you considered others?
@@RC.56 the water pack on the back is a rotopax and I found a ladder mount on Amazon that worked. The harbor freight lights are great, I used them because they are a bit better than cheap lights on Amazon but cheaper than other name brand lights. I’m at 2 years with these machines now so I should do a follow up and include some night riding while I’m at it.
@@goodjerm would love to know which mount you found for that. Where does it secure? To the rack?
@@RC.56 I secured it to the rack extender, I was able to find the item on Amazon. It's a small business out of Colorado (I think). www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08BWD1R41

Ever hole gets different fulid. Polaris junk. They're the AMC of the motorsports world.
This weekend I performed similar service on a 2004 sportsman 700. It had cracked exhaust manifold, virtually no exhaust gaskets, cracked boots on both sides of the carb. After replacing all it runs great. while letting it idle to get to operating temp I discovers broken oil dipstick fill tube and oil leak at crank case. It needs O ring replaced. leaked surprising amount of oil in short period of time.

Thanks for the video, about to attempt the front drive fluid. Is there anything to grease on the bike? Is there any wheel bearings or anything else that needs to be greased? I bought a used 23 trail, 80 hours on it. Inside of the wheel hubs are slightly rusted, assume that’s normal.
@@RC.56 not much to grease on these newer units. I think the u joints and slip joint in the prop shaft is about it. A little rust inside the hub carrier is normal, but I would keep an eye on it. When washing just make sure to get all the water out (probably the cause of the rust). Wheel bearings don’t need attention for quite a long time unless there’s a problem. If you have a winch it will be easier to do the front gear case if you remove the winch.
@@goodjerm I do have a winch, and that’s why I had not done it when I did the transmission and oil, couldnt get to it. need to look up the process of removing that, wheels off? Anything to do with suspension? Do the shocks get old or need to be adjusted for weight like a standard dirtbike. Also, mine has been sitting for eight months since I’ve done the oil/tranny. Wonder if I should do it again soon.
@@RC.56 winch and front brush guard aren’t too hard to get off and out of the way, just the mounting bolts. Transmission shouldn’t need another service for quite a while, but is probably a good idea to do the engine oil and filter. Suspension should be fine, I only increased the spring preload on mine due to the weight of tools and gear I carry (and the winch is heavy too)
I have 2016 Chrysler 200C AWD w/3.6 liter Pentastar engine. Oil Filter is on top of engine. I have 51,000 miles on car now. My Wife liked car because of Panoramic sunroof and Linen colored leather interior, I use synthetic oil 5w20 oil Chrysler calls for that.

I have Chrysler 200 2015 2.4L My mechanic put 6L castrol engine oil instead of 5.2 i just read the manual because I had doubt on him. I want to ask as he put extra oil will it cause any issue in future?
@@gurvindersingh_5911 over filling the engine oil on any vehicle can cause damage, but that is not a large amount. I will probably be fine.
