I have just dropped FaB as a whole. It happened yesterday (Jan 17 2025), I've played a couple of games on Talishar (big mistake) and just had a really, reeeally bad time. I got into FaB in July 2024 and recently I've been playing Jarl only and man, I like this character as much as I acknowledge how bad he is (well, at least at the current meta where is impossible to run better blue cards or whatever) and I really don't deal well with losing mainly when I realize that I can't do something to try avoiding it. I know that much of that is because of my inexperience in the game and that a lot of veterans could perform well with him (at least better than me), but it's been rough not feeling good at all playing. Even worse is the economic state of the game, I can't afford some expensive staples and it's bad to play without them but worse to spend a lot of money and don't feel pressured to perform better since I put my money on it. So if I can't avoid frustration because my character is not great + I don't know a lot of things about the game at all to help + I can't stand spending a lot of money and not feel bad about it + I'm not having fun losing = my time is up... At least for now I guess. Some in game friends (wonderful people btw) convinced me to not sell everything yet, since I could change my mind over time. But right now I'm really sad and feeling a lot of what you said but with no good expectations about coming back. I have not decided if Jarl sucks or the meta sucks or FaB sucks or I suck, but at least I'm not feeling bad right now not playing the game anymore. Anyway, sorry for the oversharing, thank you for your content and for helping me and the community. People like you make quitting the game harder (I mean this as a good thing).
I am sorry to hear about your negative experience, but I'm glad you took a chance on FaB. Losing can be tough, especially if you feel pressure to win. Now seems like a great time to play FaB, but that unfortunately hurts the financial aspect when a lot of people are joining and need cards to play the game. I'm glad you found wonderful group of in-game friends, and I hope you continue to have great moments in the flesh and blood with them, even if it's not related to the game.

Yeah, I get tired of facing constant Guardians in our local meta. It burned me out of the game for a year and a half, back when Oldhim and Starvo dominated everything. Just got back in a few months ago. To face half an Armory full of Guardians every week… Great topic to cover.
I actually started playing Dash IE because I was tired of playing Oldhim mirrors, and I wanted a deck that could consistently beat him. Haven't looked back since!

Great video on stopping burnout in general with terrific examples using Flesh and Blood. Makes me want to know more about "taking breaks." Seems like a simple concept but I would bet that it could be a topic unto itself. How does the brain refresh itself when it is "on break"?
That's absolutely a great idea! It's also a topic I have a decent amount of background on. Taking breaks can help both with memory as well as performance, with spaced repetition being the best way to practice anything
@@Bios_Update_FAB Oh that's cool. I enjoy Fab, but whew...I'm a very casual player. Or, I should say that I only to get my local armory once a month with no casual games in between. So, burnout is a real thing with so many losses. What is the best strategy/approach to practice, but pace myself to not burnout on practicing and feeling like I am getting no where? Are breaks a true rest for my brain or is it more of using my brain on a completely different topic and problem, which could translate into creativity? Wow, so many questions...
Since you're only going to armories once a month, I would maybe recommend spending time in between armories to practice at home (talishar, goldfishing, or playing 2 decks against each other). Studies show that your brain gradually forgets things unless they are repeated, so a little practice in between will likely go a long way!!
It also sounds like burnout may be happening because of losses affecting your enjoyment of the game. If you can, I'd recommend focusing more on fun or trying to improve at 1 thing each armory. If you do that, it's absolutely a success. Celebrating wins outside of your W/L record can help keep motivation high while you're making small improvements that will add up over time!

I hear you. Money is unfortunately a barrier for a lot of TCGs. Fortunately, Commoner is in a pretty good spot, and I think LSS is doing a decent job printing equipment that's more financially accessible.

my deck is not in full power. Is it a bad match with opponent's deck has CnC, Tunic ?
CnC and Tunic are powerful, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad matchup. I recommend knowing how decks can use the extra resource from Tunic to play around those trickier moves. For CnC, sometimes it's right to lose your arsenal instead of fully blocking it. It takes practice to figure out what's right in each situation!

Would highly recommend to pick a higher tier hero to stick with for a while. There’s a few benefits there. The first one is that those heroes tend to be more forgiving, second you’ll be able to see how other people play those heroes more often, and third when you lose with that hero and see others winning it might help you identify gaps in your play.
I agree that learning a higher tier hero is helpful because there are more resources for them, PLUS winning more early can keep motivation going! Although, I would rate a hero's straightforwardness more highly than tier when deciding who to pick up. Heroes like Ira, Bravo, and Dash IE tend to be better for learning the game, because their play patterns generally make it easier to recognize and fix mistakes. At the end of the day, I think it's most important that people pick heroes that enhance their enjoyment of the game while facilitating the learning process.
@ those are all reasonable heroes. I’d recommend anyone that is over 1 year old that is still near the bottom of the living legend list, and if they are 2-4 years old consider not playing them at all

Really enlightening video, I just wish I could figure out one hero to focus on. I like Zen a lot, but I also really enjoy Boltyn, but I ALSO like Fai, Victor, and Jarl, and I'm also pretty interested in what Fang might do in Hunted, etc. etc. Such a headache, but at least I know what to do once I finally settle.
One thing that I didn't mention in the video is that there's a lot of skills that carry over in between heroes. The good news is that these skills are applicable no matter who you play. Even though the improvement process is faster if your focus is on one hero, there's nothing wrong with playing multiple heroes as long as you're enjoying the game!
I appreciate the response, and that's honestly great to hear. I mostly play on Felt Table and a few games a week with some irl buddies, so I haven't quite experienced true Flesh and Blood yet, but I am having a blast despite dipping my hand into so many heroes. Florian's another one I forgot to mention, Runeblade is pretty fun and I like that he can seemingly dodge Warmonger's better than other Runeblades because Earth cards hit pretty hard on their own.
Playing with irl buddies is one of the best ways to enjoy the game! I especially love building jank decks to play Ultimate Pit Fight with friends at our LGS

great video. I would like to see you cover motivation in a future video. I am struggling with that at the moment and would love to see how others are dealing with that. I started playing with Azalea during Dynasty. She was super fun to play and I was happy with the deck until the ice heroes rotated and the list became the hyper aggro version we see now. I didn't enjoy that and stopped playing her but I had a backup plan and was already in the process of building Kano. I adored that deck, it was everything I wanted in a deck of Flesh and Blood. I was planning to keep playing it until he hit LL. Then they banned the Tomes. Even with the cards from Rosetta, the deck is pretty bad (let's be honest, Wizard didn't get much of anything in that set, it would be disappointing regardless of bans, but now it's like they are laughing at the wizard players). I did build another deck to try and at least learn a new class, but it is just not what I want to play. TLDR : LSS banned the Tomes, it killed the deck I loved playing more than anything I ever played in any TCG, big sad, can't find motivation.
I can definitely resonate with this, since it feels like the High Octane ban is making me re-learn how to play Mechanologist. It's frustrating to lose power cards for your class. However, I've been enjoying trying out new heroes and strategies because of the ban. For instance, I'm trying out combo Aurora in blitz and testing new tech for Maxx Nitro in CC. Even though I have a lot of fond memories playing High Octane with Dash IE and Dash I/O, the variety has been nice. Some of my friends that play Kano have been enjoying Blaze and Oscilio. From what I've seen, they both have puzzling combo turns that deal massive amounts of damage! I'd suggest maybe trying those heroes out to feel (a little) like Kano before the tomes got banned. If not, do you think playing Kano in the LL format would help with your motivation?
