Very encouraged with your results on the hood lining. I was closely involved with the Stag Owners Club project to facilitate re-manufacture way back in 2002. Its good that its still available, but I have to agree that the price nowadays is not really sustainable, especially given the cost of packaging and shipping for such a fragile item.

I've heard some people use wax paper to trace design then flip it over & use it on other side . Contaminates floating in air or on rag can give you fish eyes. But lookin the ducks guts mate. 1 month to go to the 45th Anniversary.

Well , we had these in the garages for maintenance, quess what no problems, the first mark ones relied on the radiator cap to be 100 percent leak proof and sucked water back to the rad from the bottle , in practice in didn't work and lost water , from cold to hot it expands buy half a pint , quickly in early 72 they hard plumed the overflow pipe to the bottom of the bottle no longer relying on the rad cap , better still is to put a TR7 Header tank wich looks factory above were the bottle was that way it is gravity fed , other problems in the day was tap water in the engine and just lack of maintenance thanks for sharing, interesting

Good to see another classis Australian car being rescued. I got my license in my dads nearly new XA Falcon 500 3 speed column shift sedan, I think copper bronze was the colour. A lot of car to handle for a 17 year old, but it was fun to drive. Love your videos, look forward to the next one.

I used to do mine every 40,000 kms, and since I got the car in 93, and from 93 til 99 was my only car (99 to 2012 it shared daily duties with Dolomite Sprint), I did a lot of mileage. Since 2012, I have a "newish" car as daily driver, but Stag gets used regularly when the sun is out. I bought mine with supposedly 90,000 kms on the clock, and have added 330,000 kms to that. So I have done it a fair few times. Every time I changed them, I checked the travel on the tensioners, and was consistent, that is, they had travelled half the distance from the "set them up" posn, to the "keepers" (the tab that catches them if they stretch too far/stops them falling out the end). I always used AE chains as while they stretched (elongated/wore, what ever people want to say, you get what I mean), they were consistent. Once my supplier had none, so supplied me with Rolon chains, and I had to take off the timing cover for something else, and luckily I did, as they had stretched like licorice, almost on the keepers after not very long. Bad batch or "copies??" as Rolon were supposed to be good. Last time I used IWIS chains. Lots of hype and false claims about them. I didn't trust any of them, so I just emailed IWIS in Germany, and they gave me the name of their rep here - in Qld. But before he did, he answered ALL my questions. I called them (QLD guys) and they were good to deal with, and he said they use single row IWIS chains in race engines and they never fail. So I will condition assess mine/use bore scope to check tensioner posn, but I don't drive mine interstate anymore, so don't do the miles I used to, so they should last forever. Each to their own, but that solution works for me.

Daym that looks good! I always feel like I'm going to spend more on tape than I will on paint! 3 hours of prep for 3 minutes of actual painting. Worth it though. Looks proper!

Lookin Mad mate. Most satisfying when you take all the masking off. Will you mock up the flares on car to mark the paint lines then remove flares to paint them.?

Now ya justt gotta buff & polish the rest of car to match bonnet mate.

I removed the engine from my Stag about 18 years ago to change the chains and do some other work. I did the chains but somehow never got around to putting the car back together. Someday maybe.

what did you use to polish the aluminium wheels seems very quick the original turned surface finish was about 3.2 R a-μm -(microns) which was quite course so i rubbed it down to 0.4 R a-μm -(microns) then it would polish up to a good mirror finish but this took most of the day too do

Stag looks so much cleaner without the vents did an amazing job can hardly tell there was vents on the bonnet

I bought triumph stag parts from rimmer brothers for years, and I normally found that it took seven days from the time I ordered to the time it was delivered, and i never had to pay GST or import duties🤔😀😀😀 I had three stags and the last stag I drove for 25 years, it was a 77 model in pemento red, I loved that car, I should have never have sold it !. 😢😢
