We then go to a bathroom showroom to collect some tiles, and return home to discuss my method of how to quote a tiling job the easiest, safest way. Whether yo...

How To Tile a Kitchen Splash-back Enclosure THE BEST WAY
Found your channel just as I’ve finished tiling my bathroom. Some content ideas based on things I couldn’t find on Uk TH-cam Guide to tile cutters (dry vs wet pros and cons) Guide to adhesives Guide to backer boards (when to use heavier boards like no more ply, aqua panel vs thinner tile backers) Guide to hand tools - I didn’t know there were different sized notch trowels…
Awesome!! There’s some great ideas, I’ll definitely do some of these asap 👌🏻
I was doing this like three years ago when I was installing baths. You could actually hang the laser straight on the screw.
Ever heard of a chalk line?
hi , for my diy mitred tiles on my window, do i need to spend so much on a resin kit,do they not do small cheap tubs of a colour match resin, ive only got one small window to do,and ill never need it again, thanks
Hey! Unfortunately I done think they do. I had to bite the bullet for my first one and buy the resin and colours. They last forever then. I use TENAX if that helps at all 😊
@@jackthetileruk thanks for the reply all the best with the channel
That’s actually pretty good 👍
Nice one jack lovely job 👍 I would love to see more bathroom tiling jobs different m2 limits for tiles (as not many talk about it). Also porcelain ceramic differences, jack o board waterproofing fixings etc 👍 just a few ideas mate 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Glad you liked it mate! I think they are all great ideas too thanks for the input and thank you for watching ! 👊🏻👌🏻
Never really liked doing silicone but since buying a pack of silicone smoothing tools I have got a lot better, I also wonder how much of the silicone you get in a tube by the time you put it on then scrape it off
intresting job description master (!) show us this easy- tricks! Good job, and video making from you ofcoursely ))
Love the long form content, Jack. Allows a full understanding of what's involved. Nice work 👊🏼👏🏻
Thank you Lee ! ❤
Lovely work i just done my splashback this weekend , not as nice as yours but im happy wish i seen your tip for plug sockets earlier , have a good un mate
Love that mate, congratulations on getting it done! Is there anything in particular you would like to see a video on in the future?
Love the long form stuff mate 👌 I think it's loads better than shorts form. Nice jobs on the splashback bud 🤙
Thank you mate im glad you like it! Yeah it's so much easier to explain everything on here too rather than rushing everything into a short video. Thanks for watching ! :D
@jackthetileruk I feel like long form in very informative it's good 👍 keep them up mate i will definitely be turning in again
@@Thekinggg748 Thank you mate !
Nice full tile under socket 🎉

Great vid! Did you get the job?
Yes were doing it in the new year :D
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 good to see you doing some mitre work Jack 🙌🏻
Thank you brother 😘
You want to stick the guard back on your grinder mate, don’t wanna sound like a nob but it’s there for a reason.
You're absolutely right mate. It's an old video, my guards been on for about 6 months now. I got taught without it on
Мастер
Smart master) simple technique !
Glad you think so! :D
Where is the mirror from mate?
Its from easy bathrooms John :D
Do you not worry about getting tiles flat especially in the corners, so when silicone is put in, it's vertical and not wonky? Also that silicone along the bath wasn't put in correctly, did you finish it after recording?
@@sicdoctor hey mate , yeah this is literally just a 60 second video from a 10-14 day project. Silicone was all perfect. Thanks for watching
What disc do you use?
@@Amir-f6o1z I use a 1mm precision blade
@ thanks. Whats the brand ?
@@Amir-f6o1z TORVA :D
Excellent skills jack 👍nice to see a full adhesive spread on the wall and tile , unlike some so called tilers who dot-n-dab. KEEP IT UP AND YOU’LL ALWAYS HAVE WORK 👍⭐️👍⭐️👍⭐️👍⭐️
Nice one lee! have a great day! :D
Hi jack just wondering what primer did you use on the plastered wall i was told you carnt use unibond to tile on and can't wait to see the finished job
Hey Ian! The primer I used was a grip primer. The reason I used this is because the wall was painted and I wanted to make sure that even if there was residue left over from paint that the primer would be effective still :) Thanks for watching mate
Hi Jack, Thanks for the video! This is a lot of info, I always found this way of quoting (material, labour, overhead, & markup) to be way too much effort and takes way too long. I live in Canada so these numbers may not make sense to you but, my price changes based on the customer I am working with. if I am working for a general contractor doing 300 condos I charge a cheaper hourly rate than if I charge a home owner. I never charge by the square foot unless I plan on subcontracting the work out to another tile setter because every square foot is different. For example, if I charge a home owner for a bathroom renovation I always charge labour only, this includes labour and tools but does not include materials, the homeowner is responsible for purchasing the materials they want installed and are responsible for having them on site for the agreed upon start date. I personally charge a day rate of $800 per day which is $100 per hour for 8 hours. This includes a tile setter and a labourer plus all of our tools. If i were to bid a bathroom renovation that I know is going to take 14 business days I would charge my day rate of $800 per day times 14 days = $11,200 + tax labour only. Some guys in my local market charge $500 per day and some charge $1,000, everyone has there number which allows us to bid jobs within minutes. Hope this helps,
Hey man, that's really cool bro it's always interesting to see and hear how other people work. Totally get what you're saying. I personally don't take on that amount of work so it never gets that complicated, but I can imagine if I was that doing something similar to you would be way better. appreciate you taking the time to explain your methods. Thanks for watching, have a great end to the year ! <3
what a weird room
Hello friend. I know it's crazy isn't it! Thanks for watching
Great video Jack
Thank you bro! <3
Yo jack, nice content. What’s your thoughts on fitting those big tiles 3.6meters high. Is there any regs on fixing above a certain height? Best of luck on your TH-cam journey .
Hello Stuart! I have never fit tiles this high before, but as far as im aware as long as the surface has been prepared correctly ( i.e - mechanically fixing backboard to the stud work) then I think it is fine. But I will double check this. Thank you for watching mate appreciate the support <3
Great video and channel mate, about time there was a UK based tiling channel! How did you get into tiling i was thinking about an intensive course.. Whats your opionion on best route to get into the trade?
Thank you my friend! Haha I know mate. I started off on an apprenticeship when I was younger doing on site new build work. Didn't really enjoy it but was a great place to learn and grow some confidence. Those intensive courses can be good to learn the gist of how to tile, but when you start to do your own jobs thats when you really start to learn, a bit like driving. Good luck with it if you do it mate. I might bring something out of my own course out In the near future. Thanks for watching :D
@jackthetileruk thank you mate going to give it a go in the new year. Good luck with the channel it will definitely grow, the contents brilliant so far
@@danad8098 Great stuff, good luck !
Not to take anything away from Jacks channel because he explains things so clearly I have also been watching another uk based tiler “The Bespoke Bloke” it’s just finding time to watch all these videos 😊
Great video. Really informative . Good luck with the channel. All the best!
Thank you so much. Appreciate the support! Let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to cover in future videos and I will. Or if there’s anything you’d like me to do differently 😊
Love watching your work. As a novice, you have shown me some great tips. Thankyou
Im really happy to hear that, were going to be uploading so much more long form too :). Thanks for watching
if wall tiles are long enough looks better to but side tiles into that so the edge is not pronounced ,,imo
Hey bill, im not 100% sure what you mean sorry. could you explain?
Doesn't need electric need to be 3m away from water?
The ceilings aren't even 3m so how would that work?
Perfect 😊
Thank you very much :D
Great content mate. I had a nightmare with a concealed shower valve set before. I used a laser level to align the three valve centres like you did. However, when it came time to fit the escutcheon plate, it was off level quite a bit. Luckily I'd left enough of a hole in the tile to access the mounting screws and fix it. From then on I would dry fit the escutcheon on the valve set on install and line that up with the laser line. Just means theres no chance of it happening again.
Love that mate. Yeah my mate matt who done the bathroom fitting told me that tip thought it was good. Always learning mate! Thanks for watching :)
What materials did you use under the shower tray to adhere it onto the floorboards? Did you use a rigid board then waterproof it, mortar, flexible tile adhesive etc?
@@MadDog_Rules hey mate, we stuck 6mm tile backer board down to the floorboards with S1 cement based adhesive and spread it in with a 10mm notched trowel (bal flex one) and then screwed it down to the floorboards with washers and 25mm screws
У плиточного клея больше сила сжатия (МПа) ,будь уверен со стен где шпатлёвка, рано или поздно плитка там отлетит .
Позорник,нормально первую плитку примыкания с ванной не смог сделать.
Great vid!
Thank you my friend!
I’ve sent you a message on Instagram about your scraper…
I’ve enjoyed watching this from start to finish…nice to put the extra effort in lowering the ceiling to get full tiles etc…nice finished product really smart and modern! Well done Jack and the team
thank you dan !

@@rpardz thank you very much ! Will be getting the next episode out asap ! 😊

Thank you ❤ let me know if there’s anything I should cover more in future videos 👊🏻
That's not really scribing as your description says. This is just how to measure a tile without using a tape - which is not always best practice.
it worked perfectly for this purpose. thanks for watching <3
