Mc Semester Norge 2023 / Motorcycle Vacation Norway 2023
Vår mc semester i Norge 2023.

My wife planed a route for us and to my surprise there where mostly gravel roads, she doesn’t like gravel that much her self but after a part of Swedish TET last week I think she has begun to change her mind about that as she’s started to look for more knobby tires for her Tiger now. In total about 200km of which 110 where gravel or forest roads. 👍🏻🙂

Super surprised there is no gasket of any kind 🙄
@@jasondunn8313 I think it's hard to seal it with a gasket since water will come in at the pogo pinns. But this gel is a solution for sure.
Great video. I am following your advice. Another weak point would be the connector (color green) going from the mount to the charging socket as with the kit included it only plugs half way leaving part of it exposed. Did you fid a solution for that? Thank you
@@aramaa4905 I have noticed that it sometimes don't charge so I have to move the connection a little. I'm thinking of doing a permanent connection instead, either by soldering the wires or schrink wrap it.
Thank you.
Also would be a good idea to mount the support upside-down, so the pins don't get water on them
just put a good chunk of dielectric grease on the pins and that should make it.
Yes, that protects the pinns from oxidation but it also collects dust, sand and debris when riding gravel or off-road in dry climate. I prefer what I have now since it's a dry solution.
Vilken fantastisk resa. 😊
Did this work? Both with the gel, and using ACF50 on the pogo pins?
Hi, Yes, I have had zero problems despite a lot of rain 🌧️
Hello, where can i find those routes for smaller roads and gravel roads? Or did you make your own route?
Hi, I created the route my self. A tip is to watch TH-cam videos and write down all nice places you want to visit and then try to connect them via smaller roads.
Thx
Don't you have any problems with loading too little when the screen brightness is at maximum and the navigation is running?
,Hmm you mean that the charging voltage should go down? No, nothing I have noticed. I think the charging is on the slow side even if I use the 220v socket in my house. I'm pretty sure that the USB converter from 12v get enough power to meet the USB standard, but I have not measured it.
Great idea! I have an active tab 2 for navigation. I'm interested in knowing what mount you are using to attach this to your navigation bar.
Thank you! I use a mount from 3D Moto. www.3dmoto.pl/product/yamaha-t700-shakes-gone-fairing-brace-nav-mount-platform-(2019-2022)
@@RiflemanSE did you mount it directly to the 3D MOTO holder? Or do you need any adapter to place the tablet holder to the center? Thank you
@@baktermk1tdi Hi, the Ram Mount holder for the pad is mounted directly to the 3D Moto mount.
Flott video!
Tack! Ja ljudet lämnar endel att önska. Pga vädret fick jag använda extern / intern mikrofon vilka ger olika ljud.
How is this set up working out? Any charging issues or is it a reliable mounting/charging system?
It has worked great, no problems at all. 😃
I saw people mounting the RAM mount upside down to have the pins on the top of the tablet. It avoids water to stay in contact with the pins thx to gravity. Maybe worthwhile being tried.
Yes, but esthetics has its part to 😄 Actually I have plans to try that but not for that cause.
Have you tried stabilant 22a on the pogo pins? We use it in the auto repair field to protect computer and sensor connections from corrosion. Should be perfect for pogo pins. it has a NATO military part number too. In the USA the NAPA part number is SL-5
Hi, No, but it sounds like it would work. I have tried the ACF 50 only. So far they work.
Well I tried your solution with the gel but for me it was not successful. For months I suffered inconsistent connection and slow charging. I am using this on my Tuareg 660. I ended up just plugging the tablet directly into Aprilias supplied usb port and it now works consistently every time with a strong charge rate. I also learned to use the adjustable display setting instead of manual mode set to max brightness. Apparently the adjustable mode can go 20% brighter I have read.
Did it work?
Yes, very well
Clever solution.

That's a place i to would like to visit. 🙂
@@RiflemanSE i think i will in August driving
Any heat issues?
No not at all
Great video. Thank you for this tip. Cheers, Mark
Thank you! Mine still works good after a terribly rainy summer.
@@RiflemanSE Thanks. Good news
I enjoy your videos; your adventures are captivating. 🌍 Could you provide insights into battling fatigue on those long rides and staying in shape? Eager to learn from you!
Thank you! We try to keep a days ride under 300km since we want to have time to stay and see things along the way. We usually make one stop for food during the ride but we try to drink something often. If weather are good we sometimes use sheep skin on the saddle, both for comfort but also for added airflow. Of course it works for warmth during cold days also. A good nights sleep are important to.
Hey! Are you still doing well with your solution? been through any substantial rains with it? Thinking about getting this mount for long distance tours.
Hi, Yes I’m very happy with it. We recently did a 1900km journey in Norway (see our latest movie) where we had a LOT of rain and it performed flawlessly. It charges a bit slow but has always done and I think it has to do with the Micro USB connection (tablet holder has a short wire with Micro usb in the end and then it’s hooked up with a longer cable that is ordinary usb in the other end. Tablet holder comes with this solution as stock so it’s nothing I have done)
Thanks! That's good to know for sure. I have several places with charging ports to experiment with on my bike. I will try a few of them. I actually have had similar charging problems by the way. My Quadlock USB A charger was actually discharging my phone half the time. I have since gotten a better charger.

Hi, The mount is this from 3D moto. www.3dmoto.pl/Yamaha_T700_SHAKES_GONE_Fairing_Brace_Nav_Mount_Platform_(2019-2022)/p6718994_21164618.aspx And the holder is from Ram Mount, there is a video of it on our channel where I do some modifications for water protection.
very nice idea!!!!
I have just tested it in poring rain for 4 days in Norway and can confirm that the electronics still works 👍🏻
Absolutely, I’m on a trip right now but I’ll do it in the coming weeks.
@@RiflemanSE gracias
Hi - thanks for the video - will try the Magic too. Did you connect your tablet to 5V or 12V? thanks for your answer
Hi, It’s connected to the 12v outlet via a USB adapter
@@RiflemanSE thanks for the answer - I hope I understood correctly. You come from the battery with 12 V to the USB plug - from the USB plug to the tablet also with 12V?
@@fiordilatte4118 I use the stock 12v outlet that’s to the left of the speedometer on the bike. In that I use a USB converter that I connects the usb cable that comes with the cradle for the pad.
Hi! Nice side racks! How I can find them?
Thank you! These come from Adventure Spec in UK.
@@RiflemanSE thank you!
Nice setup. What kind of tail tidy do u have?
Thank you! I have the ALTRider tail tidy. More pictures of it can be seen on instagram.com/trailandroadadventure
@@RiflemanSE where can i buy this
@@AdventureWR Just search for it, ALTRider has some resellers online.
@@RiflemanSE sorry, didn’t see the first the part
@@AdventureWR No problem 😃
Can't you mount it up side down?.
Yes that is possible but I think it’s just fine as I have it now actually.
@@RiflemanSE would you still recommend the holder?
@@MrRclemens Yes, so far no problems with the charging. I have washed the bike with the holder attached and really drenched it and so far so good.
How are you finding the Tab 2 Active ?
Spring is really late this year in Sweden so I haven’t had the chance to test it much but it seems like it handles all my navigation apps great so far.
@@RiflemanSE Same for Norway, still cold! I was thinking of screen brightness. Cant affaod the Tab3 🙂
@@no66 I will check that and reply to you asap 👍🏻
@@no66 I have now tried out in the sun, the brightness on its highest setting is about the same as on my Garmin Montana 700i. No problem reading a map but it would not have hurt to be just a tad brighter. For the money I think it’s totally fine.
@@RiflemanSE Thanks for the update. I have one coming soon and going to print a holder this weekend
Hi, I bought the same tablet and holder from RAM, but I can't fix it to the Ténéré, there is a plate to fix the holder to the Ténéré. Could you please tell me the reference of this plate? There are hundreds on RAM website butI have no idea which one fits the Ténéré? Thanks a lot for your help!!!! Chris
I use a mount from 3D Moto for attaching the RAM holder to the bike. www.3dmoto.pl/details/p6718994_21164618.aspx
@@RiflemanSE thank you so much for your answer. They even have one for the world raid!
@@ZX-6R You’re welcome 😃
A nice inventive solution, did you encounter any issues with water ingress afterwards? thanks for sharing
Hi, I haven’t had the chance to ride with it yet, we have -18 degrees celsius at the moment and a lot of snow. I will post an update as soon as I know 👍🏻
@@RiflemanSE Ha Ha should of realised “Sweden” thanks for the reply will look forward to seeing if this solution works out. I’m using a large rugged phone at the moment and looking into a slightly larger display with a more secure mount which has been the main issue for me while riding tracks 👍🏻
I hope you got a good solution done and have had a good seaso riding, i had totaly missed your reply.
Yeah, not waterproof from box. Nice tip👍
i think the problem with the holder is the pogo pins it self. they tend to have bad connections and dont allow to charge at full charge
but good ideia anyway
Yes the spring tension sure could be a little stronger in them. I have seen online that it is possible to buy other pogo pins, maybe it will be a winter project and change them, or just run a separate cable if it gives up. But at least it’s now weather protected.
@@RiflemanSE I've installed a second USB -C cable soldered to the circuit board. This way I have 2 different charging entry's to the tablet. Haven't tested it properly but the tablet charges at 1400ma
@@RiflemanSE could you send the link to the different pogo pins?
@@PIREX701 I just did a search for pogo pins and got several resellers/ manufacturers, there are even watertight ones. But changing them might be a job for some one who are good at soldering small things 😁
What's the update of the lower exhaust sitting too near into the swing arm?
Not good, unfortunately, Mivv agrees that the system is correctly mounted and is as it should be, and is not defective , therefore they will not send a new link pipe, neither do the reseller wrs.it. On the other hand Mivv states in the manual that the gap from any thing that can be damaged by heat should be 20mm, but in some strange way it’s ok with 2mm from the rubber part on the swing arm. I have heard from some resellers before that Mivv is not service minded at all and I can fully agree. Neither are WRS.it who understands my concerns but can’t act on their own and send a new link pipe to try with, they only reroute my emails to Mivv and refers to what Mivv says. I could return everything but only if the engine newer had been started with it, which it has. More about it here www.tenere700.net/topic/6037-mivv-dakar-slip-on-problems/#comment-68787
@@RiflemanSE I just ordered a Mivv Dakar black for my T7. If I have an issue I'll make a video about it.
@@RiflemanSE mine in route from Italy dealer. I bought the whole kit including the headers and carbon fiber protectors. Will see once they arrived and I able to install em. 🤞🏼 for non issue, I cannot simply afford if it does. 😬
@@baksi07 Nice! I bet it will fit better with their own manifold.
Now I’m not sure about buying this exhaust! That must hit the swing arm if you jump the bike?
Hi guys don't forget, the slip on is not suitable with the stock plate. Keep riding and stay safe.
True, I have the ALTRider tail tidy
No problem with the flikers ? I would like to mount this kind of exhaust but no sure about the flikers. I have the short tail registration plate, what model do you have on your bike ?
Hi, I have the ALTRider tail tidy which moves the indicators up higher, the Mivv Dakar is not compatible with the stock placement of the indicators. The bike is a 2022 Rally.
Hi! Is this Euro4 or Euro5 bike?
My Bikes is Euro 5 but the Mivv Dakar is approved for both 4 and 5.
looks nice (y) - what tail tidy is this ?
Thanks! It’s an ALTRider tail tidy. I can highly recommend it, easy install and there is a very good installation video here on TH-cam with all the torque values etc.
Awwwww 🤩
Excellent evacuation. You will like it a lot. I recently installed one on my Tenere 700
Yes I think it looks way better with the high mount. The only concern I have is the tight space between the swing arm and the pipe, barely 2mm. The reseller will contact Mivv for advice.
@@RiflemanSE any update on this one? I had the same issue with my HP Corse SP1 high mounted exhaust and I removed it for this reason. It was touching the swing arm on full stretch of the suspension. Thanks
@@georgedimou2223 Hi, Unfortunately not, @Mivv are taking a very long time deciding what to do. WRS are handling it and I hope to get a solution soon.
Mivv agrees it’s tight but it’s right mounted, but will not change the link pipe for me. Lousy service from Mivv in my opinion.
So you had to keep it that way? Isn’t it touching the swingarm at all? If mine arrives and looks like that, I’ll send it back for sure… that’s way to close imo
Det ser riktigt trevligt ut. Snyggt filmat!👍
🇵🇹😜👍
