Welcome, We are a small fiber mill based in northern Vermont where we turn animal fibers into beautiful hand-dyed (or natural) pin drafted roving for hand spinners. We also offer a variety of indie-dyed Yarn all dyed right here in the mill. Our videos have little of everything in them. Mostly, whats going on in the mill, what projects we are working on, and, if your new maybe you will learn about all the wooly things we talk about.

Hi Liz and Julie, congratulations on successfully getting the Advents sent off! I can't wait to see them as people start receiving them - and thank you for sharing your prjects and ideas ❤
I think you are amazing, my mum had a stroke a few years back, she's having trouble treadling and drafting, so she asked for a spindle, so iv got the Turkish she asked for but I'm thinking a support one might be better, my question is the tip Are they better with a smooth point to spin off as mine are shopped so the fibre bounces which do you think would be better for her, she too has left hand weakness
@@danielbryant-ou1zx Can you message me off here? I have more questions ,I'd be happy to help you out as much as I can! My email is kffiberworks@gmail.com
As I progress with support spindle spinning I have found that carding my roving into Rolags is my easier prep to spin.
@@katlady1019 yes, That makes total sense rolags are a woolen prep ideal for long draw. keep spinning 😁
Thank you. I have 30 fleeces to skirt and wash. I wasn’t sure how to efficiently do this. I did one in the house tonight and I’m don’t think I got all the soap out. So I’m guessing I’ll have to rinse again after it’s dry. I found this video first, but am going to go find your other videos to make sure I’m efficient in all my other steps. I did make some mistakes on my first fleece. But I’d have been surprised if I didn’t.
I just started support spindling. My mistake was starting with a Tahkli and cotton sliver. Even though I have been spindle spinning for 20 years. Cotton has proven a real challenge. Just ordered a Tibetan support spindle yesterday. I am hoping that with wool will go much better. You however are doing fantastic!
@@myrany8407 thank you!, I'm sure wool will make things alot easier!
Thanks for sharing your progress I am just learning & still doing park & draft I don’t know if o will ever get to do it continuous but your video is a big help in showing & explaining it Cheers
@@susanwhaitiri9749 You're welcome! I'm so glad I could help!
That is very exciting news. I'm delighted for you. Thanks for the tour of your fiber mill the other day.
@@catadams4426 your very welcome!
So good to see you both! Oh my gosh, love your new Fiber Fusions, I've got to check them out! And a huge congratulations on your mill growing, that's wonderful news
@@mywoolmitten thank you! I can't wait for all the different colors coming out 😊
Congrats on your expansion!! I’m excited for you! I want to order some of your new fibre too - it looks beautiful and I’ve never spun a heathered fibre before! You could name the colours after trees. 😊
@@PandTRanch thank you!, that's a great idea! They are in the shop now 😊
I’m waiting for my spindle to arrive. I’ve watched so many videos but yours definitely clears up questions I’ve had! Thank you

Beautiful batts and bags of fiber!!❤❤
@@megwickenden5854 thank you!
Happy Belated Birthday 🎂 🎉
That batt is bigger than you!! 😂😂
I'm telling you, they are huge! lol
Hi Liz! Can't wait to finish watching, just wanted to say hello (and happy birthday Julie 🎉)
@@mywoolmitten hi! I will tell her 😁
@@mywoolmitten thank you and I will😁
Hi Liz and Julie, what a fun visit and lots of great projects ❤
Love all the laughter 💕
Haha thank you ☺️
thank you. You wash it now? Don't you pick it before?
After you skirt then pull the fleece apart and wash. Once it's dry then you can pick it open to card it.
Your batts look amazing!
I love how you guys are playing around with the batts. That multi color one at the end of the video is lovely.
In our country the wool is thrown away after shearing the sheep. People don't use fur balls Wool is a valuable resource. I realized this after watching your video. I want to learn from . If you teach me how to make yarn from sheep's wool, I will unite the poor people of my country and provide them with employment.
Wow, that's crazy. It really depends on the breed. If it is a wool breed it usually has a purpose but some sheep are just for meat. What country are you in?
A crossbreed of our Bengali Desi sheep with Chhota Nagpuri breed sheep from Nagpur region of India. This crossbreed was named after A lamb born from a combination of a goat and a sheep is called a crossbreed. Goats are larger than sheep and have longer tails.
Always enjoy your podcast Liz!!! Hello to your guest!! 😃 That red/pink Omgoodness 😍😍😍
Hi Liz and hello to Julie!
I would love to see more of your milling process.
Now that I have somebody to help me, we are totally working on that! Stay tuned!☺️
@@kingdomfleeceandfiberworks5897 awesome!
The sweater is beautiful! Love it just the way it is!!
I totally love the Spin it to knit it roving!❤It was so nice for you to have a guest.
Thank you! I'm so excited excited to have Julie joining me, It's going to be a lot easier and we already have lots of plans 😁
In the NEK, wicked. Gonna have to swing to St. J and check out some of your products.
Sure anytime
Hi Liz! I like how you are making the tidy edge on your blanket. I make socks like that as well, both at the same time but on different needles ❤ Maybe your socks will still fit?
Lol, thanks! I already ripped backed to the cuff and working to catch up to it
Love your videos! You have an amazing business!
Thank you so much!
I love the ocean-y blues that appear all around you! Your mug, your shawl, the pops in your chocolate brown spin- good luck sugaring, just had our first taste of this years from my father in law on Hyde park!
That made so much sense. I'm okay on wheel, drop spindles, but the support spindle is kind of a mystery. Great overhead shot - thanks!
Thank you, I feel like support spindles are so hard to explain! I'm still trying to figure it out lol
I got precisely one with a lap bowl. And I just can't get another until I get this one going. It came with a lot of wool that is loose and fluffy (much different than I'm used to!) so I'll use that and see how it goes. Whew!@@kingdomfleeceandfiberworks5897
Thank you! That was great!😊
Liz is your cardigan swatch a 2 ply? I started blend fiber for a similar feel as yours. I’m using mostly dark brown but other browns too and purple and teal as the pop color.🥰 Also I’m so glad the combination knitting is working for you. I had a feeling it would.🎉I plan to do the Travelers cardigan.
My swatch is three ply, I have two dark singles and one single with color. I definitely want to make something out of the traveler series, just not sure if it will be with this handspun.
I always love catching your podcasts. I love your enthusiasm about all the fibery things!
Oh thank you so much!
Hi Liz, I’m so glad you popped up. I love watching your podcasts. The brown spin looks gorgeous and I can’t wait to see it all knitted up. Thanks again for another great video. Take care and thanks for sharing❤
I'm so glad! Thanks so much for watching!
Your John sounds like my Joe lol…..I never know what’s going on!! 😂😂
Lol,I hate waiting around! Then he's annoyed if I'm not ready 🤷.
I love your spin - it looks like a marl and so fun!!!
Thank you!
So glad I found your channel! I bought my first support spindle 2 weeks ago and am gobbling up information. Thanks for sharing what you have learned. I really appreciate that you shared that you are a stroke survivor. My son had a massive stroke at age 33. 16 months later he has minimal use of his right hand but it is still improving.
Welcome! I'm glad You found the channel too! I'm sorry to hear about your son. Tell him not to give up and keep trying and it's okay to do things differently, reach out if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help!
Thank you! I plan on telling him about you. He has worked really hard. His affected hand is his dominant hand but he continues to progress. His biggest hurdle is losing his ability to communicate easily due to aphasia and apraxia of speech. He gets very frustrated and sad. That said he hasn’t stepped back from living life and I am so proud of him. Anyway- you are an encouragement to me ❤.
Congratulations 🎉🎉. You mastered it!! Patience and practice. I’m not there yet, but you’ve inspired me to keep at it.
Omgosh the yarns are gorgeous!!! 😍😍😍😍
Feel better! Just keep spinning…just keep spinning😊
So great to see you again. Sorry you’ve been ill. I really like the spindles you showed. What beautiful craftsmanship. Hope to see you podcast again soon. Take care
Thank you!
You do wonderfully at spinning. I'm going to try a drop spindle, and I have one hand that shakes badly. I hope I have as much success as you.
Thank you. Just be patient with yourself and if you need to switch hands and see if that works too. Try and only do a few minutes at the time so you don't stress yourself out! If you keep trying different things, eventually you'll find something that works, Good luck!
Nice channel! What kind of yarn do use for your socks? I’ve heard using a fleece with a longer staple length can be better for socks, if you don’t want to add nylon
I loved this video Liz, and it was so nice of you to share it! You are doing great, but I think I'll stick with my Turkish spindles! Lol
Lol, that's too funny! I have never tried a Turkish drop spindle!
@@kingdomfleeceandfiberworks5897I love the cops a Turkish spindle makes!
First - I love the shirt! Second, it’s really awesome and important to see how folks with different types of mobility issues can still make fiber arts work for them! Thank you for sharing!
Lol, thanks, they are from our local corner store😉. And yes,I hope maybe I can help someone else.
Hi Liz, I’m so enjoying watching and catching up with your videos. My favorite color is teal. But then I like all colors. I love all the projects that you’re working on and showing us. I did watch the beginning spindle video this morning. I was just the opposite when learning how to spin. I did better on the drop spindle and then went to the wheel. Go figure, lol. I have bought a fleece from Miss Cary. She’s just the sweetest.
Hi! Just discovered your IG and channel this evening. I’ve really enjoyed watching while working on my support spindle spinning! I only have one, which I got just in time to start the 100 day challenge, but I’m definitely in love and hope to add more to the collection at some point. I’ve been spinning correidale blended with a bit of dyed alpaca so far and am hoping to finish my first 4 oz by the end of the week. Not sure what I’ll delve into next as I’m pretty new to the whole endeavor. The fiber you’ve spun up is lovely! All about the greys and warm toned neutrals right now…. Just what I’m gravitating towards in my wardrobe and therefore what I want to spin and therefore knit. Hoping to be able to knit up a shawl of some kind when the 100 days are up! Thanks for sharing! Can’t wait to follow along with you and hopefully grab some lovely fiber from your update!
Thank you and welcome!
That was very good! Thank you - now I'm wondering if I still have my support spindle packed away somewhere ❤
You'll have to dig it out. It really is nice to take it on the go.
Hi Liz! You make a good point about spindle spinning being easier once you know how to draft and spin on a wheel. I'm off to watch your spindle video. Oh, beautiful fiber and Corriedale is my favorite ❤ I love greys, but have been spinning some shades of pink lately!
Omg I just remembered,it's your Corrieadale! It's beautiful and I need more🤣
@@kingdomfleeceandfiberworks5897 no way! That is sooo funny ❤️❤️❤️ It's a small world!
