12 Grapes of Spain: A Lucky New Year Countdown?
In Spain, the countdown to midnight is more than just a moment-it's a cherished tradition steeped in symbolism and superstition. As the clock strikes twelve, people across the country eat doce uvas (12 grapes), one for each chime. Each grape represents a wish for luck and prosperity in the upcoming year. This custom, believed to have originated in the late 19th century, blends community spirit with the hope for a fortunate future. 🇪🇸🎉
Gathered with family and friends, Spaniards sit in anticipation, grapes in hand, ready to synchronize their bites with the iconic clock tower in Madrid's Puerta del Sol. This delightful ritual is not just about good fortune-it's a testament to togetherness and the joy of shared moments. Will you embrace this flavorful tradition in your New Year celebrations? 🌟🎶

Some f my favorite dishes here, as well as some of my favorite plating. Some versions of these I’ll serve up on this fishy Friday. Happy New year 🎊
There is also Simbang Gabi- a series of Masses over 9 days in preparation for Christmas. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simbang_Gabi
Didn’t know my favorite clams is actually that dangerous 😮
Yummy... a must have..
This is one tradition that is keep in every heart of a Filipino! Indeed it is imbedded that no matter where we are, how we become, in foreign land or somewhere around the world we always come back to this tradition and our values are kept with in our hearts. That Filipino hospitality and compassion always prevail wherever we are. Thank you for sharing.
Oh GOD I miss my Mama and Papa Thank you so much for this and I love you reminds me of where I come from
Its clear now.
I'm a filipino one thing i love in pandesl is the nostalgic aroma when it's newly baked and put it inside the brown paper bag it smells great it makes me full of energy every morning like hmmmmmm...... Smells good
J U F RAN Jufran ❤
Thanks sa recipe
wonderful video. Thanks. AAA++++ Cheers!!
LOOOOOOOL, Filipino but this is how I learn banana ketchup has no tomatoes?????????? omg? wow
It looks yucky but it’s so delicious. I love century eggs
If foreigners find the Banana Ketchup weird, what if Filipinos had Ube Ketchup?
Our ketchup, ube, soy sauce and Mang Tomas all have artificial colors and flavors and preservatives. Sad.
Also NATA DE COCO IS A FILIPINO CREATION. It’s made in the Philippines. Yet some countries take away the credit of the invention makes my blood boil.
we keep a bottle at the hunting shack. taking a slug is mandatory for all participants. Whiskey has been added to the bottle over the years, though it's the same cobra!
What's important is that I love seafood 😁
My fave ketchup.
This very helpful information, thank you so much ❤
then theres langoustine / scampi which looks like prawns but actually are mini lobsters 😅
As an immigrant, I have brought so many bottles of UFC and Jufran to the break rooms of offices I’ve worked in while in the US. My super sneaky influencer campaign worked! 😉 I’ve converted so many of my American colleagues 😂 (cool story bro : one of the streets in the neighborhood where I grew up , was renamed to Maria Orosa Street, about 20 years ago 👍)
This made me proud and I'm not even a Filipino!
Arroz con cosas no es paella
When a non-filipino knows more about the philippine history than filipino locals. I didnt even know who maria y orosa is or heard of her name.
Great video
Eh really nice detailed video, I'm learning something new here
I would love to try that . Properly prepared for sure 👍
Nice voice very soothing
I bet they moved out of Cali because of Newsom
Now I want bratwurst and sauerkraut.... big dollop of mustard on the side...... mmmmmm
When I was a kid, I don't like banana ketchup. It's too acidic, and I realized that why later on. It tastes good for savory foods but not snacks.
NECESSITY is the Mother of all invention
It is very tasty especially half cook and dipped in chilli with lime sauce. Or curry mee with half cooked clams. Nowdays I am eat it once a while with curry mee as the risk of infection is high. Oh yes I been eating it since I am a kid usually we just boil it in hot water for a while making sure its not overcook or it won't taste good
My experience eating blood clams is to make sure it is fresh. once i ate was not fresh, results was 3 days of diarrhea and fever. From that moment on, i stop eating any kind of clams
I'm craving! Ugh!😅😢😢😢
I could survive on it yum! 🍅 basil garlic cheese or no. Add capers
I clicked on this video because I read the title wrong. I read it as What separates simps from prawn (porn) But as I watched it I realized I was wrong.
Glad to hear them outline what bruschetta actually entails. Toasted bread rubbed with garlic. THAT is bruschetta. The topping is just that. The topping.
I have taken several survival courses two of which were at Sea, The energy bars/biscuits called Datrex actually aren't too bad,
seven seas is better i think :)
Banana ketchup was invented because the Japanese invaded the Philippines. Import of tomatoes from the United States and elsewhere was stopped leaving the Philippines without the raw ingredients to make tomato ketchup. Orosa between her job as food scientist and resistance fighter, came up with the idea of using ripe bananas as tomato substitute. A few reiterations later, the banana ketchup was born. Banana ketchup the only other ketchup in the world.
What separates shrimp and prawns? About $10 per pound...
my life is not complete without a burger
Good video. For those not familiar with taxonomy, the significance of shrimp and prawns being in different suborders are like the differences between a leopard and a sea lion. Same order but different suborders.
the explanation suits as IELTS test
Prawns - Can't really get in the US.
I never knew.
Prayers and God bless the Philippines 🙏🙏🙏♥️💯🇵🇭
