That was cool. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for the compliment, and for checking out my video!
Nice job. Thank you.
Thanks for the compliment & for checking out my vid!
At 15:22 you refer to the Skytrain bridge as a suspension bridge. In fact it is a cable-stayed bridge.
Thanks for the info, and for checking out my video
really cool.
Thanks for the compliment, and for checking out my video!
I find the change of direction in Edmonton very interesting. I have been wondering for a long time how it will actually happen.
Fantastic fall colours. No doubt the train was sold out.
It was pretty full, Thanks for checking out my video!
The "Manor" series sleeping cars used in the Canadian have six bedrooms ("Cabin for 2" ), lettered A to F. By a quirk of the car's design, bedroom "F" is significantly larger than the others (which makes a big difference in floor space when the beds are folded down). Since VIA does not make a distinction in fare for this one room, it gives a bonus for costing the same as the others. Therefore, experienced travellers and railfans "in the know" reserving a bedroom always try to book "F" . Phone into VIA directly to book this room, as the website doesnt give you the choice of letter.
Excellent Video! Thumbs Up and best Greetings
Thanks for the compliment, and for checking out my video!
nice . this is how amtrack roometes were before they went to superliners .
Thanks for watching my video!
This was a gr8 vidio!! Let's of scenery & little unrelevant info on rooms etc. Comments in writing @ bottom of vidio could b of a bigger font & kept there longer, but.... otherwise a végy enjoyable "ride"!!!❤
I really enjoyed the journey last month , However I wish DEP time was in midday from Vancouver.
The transition cars some are old Santa Fe rebuilds
Awesome job …. Great captions the best I’ve seen 😊
Thanks for the compliment, and for checking out my video!

I have watched both going from Chicago to San Fransisco and back again from my armchair in the UK England I have watcched other videos similar but yours beats them all I have really enjoyed seeing ALL the scenery and thank you very much .
Thanks so much for the generous compliments, and for watching my videos! Looking forward to sharing more of our trips!
Thanks a lot for this amazing video, I’m going to take the same route next july 10th, I’m going in economy, i have a question, i know i have to bags (10kg and 23kg) but i’m going just with a small bag, can i take the another to bring some food like noodles and beverages, due to lack of food options in economy? Thanks again!!
Hi, VIA's baggage policy is here: www.viarail.ca/en/plan/baggages/carry-baggage or you can call them at 1-888-842-7245. And yes you can bring your own food: www.viarail.ca/en/plan/faq/plan-your-trip/can-i-bring-my-personal-food-drinks-board You can also buy meals on board in the dining car or one of the dome cars. Hope this helps!
That looks great. My Friend Jack was a gunner on a firefly with the 8th Hussars during WW2.
Thanks for the compliment, and for checking out my video!
Best train ride ever was in Pullman pulled by coal burner (late 1940s) northern route from Los Angeles to Shrevesport.
All the graffiti I’ve ever seen on trains or on walls seen out train windows looks like it was done by the same person.
Wonder if they’ll ever be caught in the act.
We've enjoyed the trip twice--both in February. But even a foot of snow can't mask the dreariness of Northern Ontario. Would suggest Winnipeg to Vancouver.
Thanks for watching my video!
I really think that section is probably the most picturesque along the coast there and through Bellingham. Thanks for the vid.
Once my husband and I decided to take this train in 2025, I’ve been watching several videos on the subject. When I saw that you had a 4-part series on almost the route we’re doing, I knew I had to watch all of them. I’m just on part 1 and almost decided a two hour video was too long. However, I started watching and was amazed how much more information you included in your video. So now I’m definitely watching them all. Thanks very much for the time and effort I know this took. It’s most appreciated.
No problem, thanks for watching!

Thanks for the great video. I went from Vancouver to Alberta in 1986 when I was in my 20's....I'm going to do the Canadian from Edmonton to Toronto - and back - this Christmas at 62. After losing my wife recently, I want to check off a bucket list trip while I can
Hello from Spain! There is a train from Portland to San Francisco? By the way, how lasts the train from San Francisco to Vegas? Nice video! Interesting to see train videos from the US!
Thanks for watching my video. Amtrak's train from Portland to San Francisco is the Coast Startlight: www.amtrak.com/coast-starlight-train. Unfortunately there is no direct train service between Vegas & San Francisco, that's why we got a rental car & drove from Reno to Vegas. The Amtrak California Zephyr train from Chicago to Reno was about 2 days, the drive to Vegas is 7 hours, and then after our stay in Vegas we continued on the California Zephyr to San Francisco which took another day.
I just picked up a set of these F3 ABA CP units, and wondering how many passenger cars they can comfortably pull on a flat level surface? I see you’re only pulling 5 in your lashup, and that’s with an extra helper ( powered?) engine.
Hi, Thanks for watching. The Lionel MPC F3 from 1973 is a single motored unit & doesn't have the pulling power of the twin motored version. The second A unit in my consist was a dummy that I converted to another single motored unit with a chassis off of ebay. My modified ABA set (now with 2 motors total) could now probably pull a 6th aluminum K-line passenger car if I had one, but 5 is all I have. FYI, the GP9 is a dummy (modern Lionel cab on dummy MPC chassis)
Very enjoyable! Thanks for letting me come along! Looking forward to our next trip! ❤️💯
Great video! Martinez is my home station and I often film the trains there. You can actually see me in your video standing at the end of the platform filming as you are pulling out of Martinez. You can see the video of your train pulling in and leaving on my channel if you are interested!
Thanks! I'll check it out!
Worth it for the sweeping mountain curves!
Thanks for watching my video!
You can also make the beds yourself, simple to do.
What was your favorite meal on this train? How many hours of uninterrupted sleep did you get on this trai?
Rigatoni Bolognese, followed by the Flatiron steak. Slept fine, full night, same as if I was home. Thanks for watching my video!
Better sleep on train BECAUSE train cradles, gently rocks; it makes me sleep better than home.
You used to be able to take Via Rail from Nanaimo to Courtenay on Vancouver Island on the old E&N lines twice daily. I'm not sure when that ended, but I used it last in the mid-90's.
Thanks for checking out my video!
Thank you for sharing this trip. I´ve seen all four parts from Toronto. A lot of beautiful scenery and impressions. The best of all ia that you don't use music. Only ambient sound. And no talking, but nice and informative texting. Thank you. Greetings from Thailand. :-)
Thanks for checking out my videos!
Thanks for the video! I'll be taking the Canadian from Edmonton to Toronto and back in November and i can't wait. It's on my bucket list - I did Vancouver to Alberta 40 years ago - time to finish the trip!
Thanks for watching my video!
wow … you did my dream trip 🥰 Your latest trip from Chicago to San francisco came up on my feed and I found this trip. You earned likes and a subscribe 👍🏻
thanks for watching!
are you standing between cars with your camera looking at the train movement?
Other than the dome & dining car footage, the filming was done from our room or the hallway window across from our room. You're not supposed to linger in the vestibule between cars. Thanks for watching.
This is certainly a most extensive video - just like taking the entire trip with you! Thank you for all your work filming.
Thanks for checking out my video!
The road through Glenwood Canyon is actually I-70. The four-lane interstate was built in the 1990's and is considered an engineering marvel. They built a four-lane interstate through the canyon, while preserving the beauty of the canyon.
Yes, and the most expensive segment of Interstate ever built to that date.
they're passing the freight train in the siding at 1:18 , if that was amtrak it would be in the siding waiting for the freight train to pass 😕
nice video cant find the other video of the east bound one. been on that train before a few times
Still working on it... Thanks for checking out my channel!
Just one more comment I live outside of St Louis and in 1967 we drove to California on Highway 70 that's the highway you see next to the train now called Highway 6 when we went through it was just two lane luckily there were no accidents so we drove right through onward to San Francisco
The conductor on Amtrak is the same conductor I've heard over the years in different train videos thanks for making your video
Thanks for checking out my vid!
Love your video. Is there an app available where you can track in real time your journey on Amtrak?
asm.transitdocs.com/ tracks all of Amtrak's & VIA's trains in real time & tells you if the train is running late or early. Just click on the appropriate train # on the map to get the aforementioned info. Thanks for checking out my video!
I'm itching to go on another train trip. Which do you prefer? VIA or Amtrak? How do they compare?
My favorite route is VIA Rail's Canadian followed by Amtrak's Empire Builder & California Zephyr tied for a very close second place. I find the onboard accommodations are comparable for both systems. Cheers, Pete

Thanks, though as a Seattleite I’m baffled as to why you call it the LRT. Everyone here just refers to it as Light Rail. If you asked someone where the LRT is, you’d likely get a quizzical look.
LRT is what they call it in Toronto
Thx for the feedback, LRT stands for Light Rail Transit, but good to know the local jargon.
