Teaching a board game I don't know how to play after drinking too much - Drunk Board Games: Splendor
มุมมอง 892 หลายเดือนก่อน
We asked Erik to teach us how to play the modern classic board game, Splendor. But he was pretty close to blackout drunk, he's never played Splendor before, and we didn't let him look at the box or the rulebook. Think Drunk History, but instead of teaching history, we're teaching board games we don't know how to play. If you like board games, you'll love The Board & Barrel, every Sunday night o...

Well done! Love how everything in this video fits the theme and you are a great pirate. Had fun watching it, thank you! :D
Thanks!
No mention of Metal Gear Solid Risk? aw :P
😂
Great video!
Thanks!
still love the pixel art one over this version
I love to see both of my favorite pass times of beck building and monster fighting in one game
And the monster's pretty much minding its own business the whole time just waiting for you to kill it, too!
@@BnBTabletop That's what they get for having a cool customized mini for themself
Great video. I like that you don't go to much into details (that i couldn't remember anyway) but give more of an overview.
Thanks!
How does someone sell if they used all their OWN marketplace tokens
Not sure I understand the question, but hopefully this helps: When you sell asteroids, you drop those asteroids back in, gain credits for each of them equal to the number in the leftmost space for that asteroid type, then cover that space with a market demand token from the supply.
@@BnBTabletop yeahhh but my dad used all 4 of his market coverings so does he continue playing? Can he only sell to the ones that are completely covered now? Because he cant cover any more slots so he cant sell to the open ones right since he wont be able to cover them?
@@moonjelly1886 The market demand tokens are a common supply token; they don't belong to any one player. There should be enough of them to get you through a full game.
Not trying to be mean here, just something to think about. At first I really liked the voice and thought it was fun... But by the 5-minute mark it became grating and I was just like "can you talk in a normal voice please." Maybe just do voices for sketches or intro/outro. Not the whole time. Or whatever, you do you.
Appreciate the feedback! Definitely willing to admit I get carried away with some of these characters :P
@@BnBTabletop And please don't take this as any kind of request to stop doing them. I like the character and can feel the fun you had doing it.
To all you “young” idiots on the panel, a great many designers knew how to make board games before video games could even be influential. You do realize that analog D&D influenced the earliest of fantasy video games, right? And it’s DNA is in every RPG on your phone or console today.
This was a great playthrough and also a fantastic how to play! Any chance there could be a separate How-to-Play video?
Forthcoming tomorrow morning!
woah, didn't expect Damien to be in the vid but a welcomed surprise haha
I like the effort you put into the presentation and acting of your tutorials. Like how you dressed as a pirate for Captain Flip
Aw, thanks!
Very cool! I want to try it out
8 months on..... you still make time for the tower? Be interesting to hear your views on long term playability. 👌👍
Never enough time for all the games we want to play, unfortunately, especially repeat plays, but this one is definitely still one of Kyle's favorites. That's with the heavy asterisk that it hasn't been played more than five or six times, so take it for what it's worth :P
It's too blurry can't focus on the vid.
You found one of our older how-to's. We've upgraded our equipment and our set quite a bit since this was shot. Sorry it's tough to see everything!
amy?
Nicely done, clear, concise, and entertaining. 😊
And it makes julienne fries!
hey that was pretty good!
Thanks! Stick around, the drinks are free ;)
Great job. Very clear explanation and no longer than it needed to be.
omg this is good times haha.
I STILL don't know what the rules were to this monstrosity
more this. this fun
You wanna get blackout drunk and teach us all how to play Everdell, James? :D
look at all that nerdy stuff... i'm jealous. i want to go to there.
Come with us next year!
look at all that gen con loot
Imagine how much we'd have if we WEREN'T broke!
Ok great video we’re ready to try this one!
Great trip! Can't wait to do it again!
I don't understand the veto power, could you please explain it to me?
That's explained pretty thoroughly at 6:32. Once unlocked, the chancellor can call for a veto once receiving the two possible policies for the round. The president can then agree to the veto to discard both policies and treat the round as though the vote to elect them failed, or disagree with the veto and force the chancellor to enact one of the two policies.
@@BnBTabletop thank you
Fun lesson, sweet set, nice garb, under 15 minutes, how does this video only have 9 likes?
Small channel, tell your friends! ;)
This looks so cool!
Love the vibe in the room, and a pretty solid teach! But, these floating icons and other graphics are incredibly distracting. They dont make me want to do the thing you are coaxing me to do.
You found an old video! A lot of our content comes from our live Sunday night show, and we used to just pull the footage straight from the VOD. Now we have raw footage from all our different camera feeds and cut out all those stream-related pop-ups. Thanks for stopping by!
my adhd brain is very happy about the gears and building them up. it's like the game comes with an added fidget toy.
Okay, but James, you have to remember where things are supposed to be when you're done fidgeting with them or the game is broken
Holy .... watching you guys eat greasy drippy food right over the game is giving me stress :D
We live on the wild side
I thoroughly enjoyed the voice work. Thanks for making it fun!
Haha, glad someone did :P
I have 3 questions. If a card gives a player 2 free drinks from the drink me deck, does that mean the player drinks both cards on thatt same turn? Or do those pile onto the drink me pile? If that makes sense? (We just bought this game. 3 to be exact. Next question. What does "add/subtract number to any numeric effect mean" that's throwing me off. Does that mean for the fortitude and alcohol content? It's from wizgilles gear deck. Same with a few others I believe.
I'm only counting two questions here. For the first one, I'm assuming you're referring to cards that have a + sign on a drink icon, which should accompany the text "with a Chaser" at the top of the card. Chasers are covered in this video at 3:33: you draw another card from the same deck and add its drink effects to the first one. For your second question, basically a "numeric effect" is any time they use a number to describe an effect. Could be fortitude, alcohol content, number of drinks, etc. Hope that helps!
I dig the jacket!
don't forget to celebrate your win with a celebratory 1980s slow-mo beach vollyball game with your best buddies. aviator sunglasses and high fives all around!
One dude looks like Adam Savage with long hair lol
😆
CORRECTION: Swabbies only award you with more points for each column on your ship that has one, not for each Swabby on your ship
I'm so sorry for the nightmare I turned myself into for this one
I'm definitely going to use a pool cue to play Jenga with my friends
All the cool kids are doing it!
How did you guys get Charles Darwin I heard he was a recluse and hadn't been seen for years. I knew his "death" was all a lie. Nice to see the old man alive and well! Made a game and is teach us how to play it.
i was confused by the sudden bow tie because the superimposed-old-man-kyle-face's beard was hiding it. so we just got a suddenly fancy kyle there at the end.
Thanks!
stand up kyle. we need to see the whole drip.
Join me for next Octoberfest ;)
Hasbro: WRITE THAT DOWN! WRITE THAT DOWN!!!
I await my residuals
Fast & Furious: Highway Heist is a great game, but I don't think there was a big enough overlap between the films' audience and board gamers. Battlestar Galactica was also great, but hard to find after the license ran out until FFG remade it as Unfathomable.
We tried BSG once on the show during our Tabletop Simulator years. Pretty sure that was one of the mods that included a bunch of expansions and we struggled to pull them all out. We also had limited playtime every week, so the game took two or three weeks to finish, and we messed up the rules and didn't ever have a cylon show up. I'd love to try it again with a physical copy, single sitting, getting the rules right. I bet it's fantastic. Same kinda thing happened with Firefly, although that one there were no giant rules oopsies like the cylon thing
@@KyleMcCarley The expansions implemented the story arcs from each season, but there was a lot of bloat. The base game is the best experience.
@@bernard832 usually the case, in my experience
I do enjoy people making an already difficult game more difficult.
Never playing regular Jenga again
1. At any point that a win condition is met regarding Hitler, Hitler must reveal their role card because the game has ended in either Facist win (Hitler is elected chancellor after 3rd Facist policy) or Liberal win (Hitler is executed). 5:02: Actually, everyone has to be silent during the legistration phase. The only communication being allowed is when Chancellor calls for veto (in which president can only say yes or no). While you are not allowed to reveal the cards to the public, you are allowed to reveal (or lie) about what cards they were given after the phase is over. This also includes party investigation (specifically when the president has made their choice to investigate someone) 5:08: With the exception of win condition, this does not apply if it was placed due to election failure (Topdecked a facist card which is placed into power). The game carries on without it taking effect. This is because there must be a elected president to perform the action. If the election failure topdecked into the 5th facist card (that grants killing while unlocking veto), only the Veto is unlocked but the killing will not be performed. 6:16: When the president gains the ability to kill someone, everyone is allowed to communicate to each other about who should the president kill. However, the president's decision is final. The executed player must tell the truth if they are Hitler or not. However, the executed player is not allowed to reveal their allegiance. This means that the president has either executed a vanilla Facist or a Liberal if they are not Hitler. 6:50: During the chancellor's turn, the chancellor may only call for veto once. If the President rejects, then the chancellor MUST choose a policy to be played even if the only policies goes against the chancellor. 2. It should be noted that there are more Facist cards than Liberal cards in the deck. So you may often encounter situations that the President is given 3 facist cards. So when a Facist card is being placed, its either the Chancellor intentionally played it, the President forcing the Facist card onto Chancellor or it's the deck's fault. So in the early game, try to establish who is liberal ASAP especially when the Liberal cards are being placed very early because in the later parts of the game, it's not going to be easy to have another liberal card played even when you have correctly identified who's good. However, keep in mind that Hitler is most likely going to act as liberal as possible since he may be going for chancellor Hitler win.
Kyle: “This is sooo stupid” Me: “when is it not?”
Muahahahaha
