    He's right, John Dowling. The lanes connect to nothing. Cyclists need routes to connect to the safest thoroughfares to get from the farthest parts of town to the city center. Efficiency and safety is all I look for as a commuter.

    As someone who lives in the area & crosses York on foot or by bike, its harder to cross now. Can we PLEASE eliminate some of the left turns, especially at designated bike routes like the 22nd Bike Lane that connects into City Park & the 25th Ave Neighborhood Bikeway? 22nd will be a good detour when the gates are closed at the 21st & York entrance flr events. The 25th Ave NBW should also have curb-cuts added for pedestrians to cross York to the Shared-use Sidewalk along the golf course. Not sure why that wasn't included with the Golf Course renovation. Seem like an ADA Compliance issue, but we can correct it now & make it accessible to bikes as well.

    I’m super excited for this project. One question. Will buses have transit signal priority along colfax and especially at 17th and broadway where a few lanes have to be crossed to turn left onto colfax? Great job guys I’m very excited for this project to start.❤

    I would love to support Alexandra's comments around the Federal BRT's not addressing gold standard and dedicated lanes between 20th and 50th on Federal Blvd. It goes against Denver's Denver Moves and DOTI's own people centered design and focus. Would love to have the DOTI board support full BRT along Federal blvd.

    Missed the meeting, but wondering a few things, are the ADA compliant sidewalks going to be bi directional or as they are now? Sort of at the corner shooting people into traffic? Is the rendering accurate in that the medians will only be a few inches high? And have trees? Have conversations been started with Forestry on what the plantings will look like? How will turns at the intersections be handled to make them more safe? Will there be turns arrows? Will rights on red not be allowed? With fewer areas for cars to make turns and people to cross with lights, the safety features at these intersections will be very important. Also, with the elimination of left turns during construction, what is the plan for traffic being diverted to 14th and 17th?

      Yes, the final configuration will include one general traffic lane in each direction and dedicated center-running lanes for the BRT from Broadway to Yosemite in Denver. The BRT will operate in mixed flow, or side-running lanes, in Aurora from Yosemite to I-225.

    Disappointed that you chose to use tree grates and tubs rather than trees in open planters. The heat effect caused by this arrangement placed tremendous stress on the original trees causing constant disease and defoliation. Look at the difference between the trees on the original 16th street Mall and the Boulder Pearl Street mall. It’s so obvious that in order to achieve the necessary shade, you need to allow the trees to thrive in a healthy environment. I was the project manager who was in charge of planting the original trees on the mall 40 years ago. It was a concern then. Why can’t we learn from past mistakes?

    Btw multi-tasking with babies on community meetings of city government is more distracting than cute. Additionally, why are community meetings a one-sided collect information style and not a informative or debate style, like PM Questions in the House of Commons?

  • @robfarol4246
    @robfarol4246 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Speaking of equity…the price of bike use is ridiculously high and needs to come down through amendment of the agreements, immediately. 40 cents a minute and $1 per use, results in a 13$ each way from downtown to cherry creek, when a Uber ride is 20$. Renting a bike using my own power should not be 2/3 the price of using a car and a driver. I can imagine that this is just not doable in less advantaged neighborhoods, if it pinches my pocket book. More and more expensive does not make us want to ride.

  • @robfarol4246
    @robfarol4246 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    No to sidewalk technology, already dangerous for slow downs at 16th st. and civic center every damn time. For christ sakes, if I can conceal carry a gun, properly drive a car, you really don’t have a right to not allow me to use a bike safely. Continue community video outreach videos on safe use, not technology that limits my freedom to ride a bike or scooter. I am also ready to sue the city and the equipment providers for endangering my safety by limiting the functionality of the bikes and scooters. Concentrate on immediately creating bike lanes that are not potholed on each and every street and scooters and bikers will feel safe enough to NOT ride on sidewalks. Until then, you really have no right to make citizens stay off of them with technology or otherwise. The CITY is NEGLIGENT!

  • @robfarol4246
    @robfarol4246 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Disagree on the safety of scooters in bike lanes, bike lane infrastructure not even safe enough for bike riders. Torn up streets and bike lanes is a intolerable and negligent danger.

    We can do well to limit the use of “engineering” to support our priorities, values & intent rather than data & charts driving our “design” process. No one discusses how well the solutions satisfy our priorities, values & intent, maybe because we think of them as part of the big picture that was done in a prior step, & just get in the way of getting things done. We must do better!

    It’s amazing how auto-prioritized this expensive transit implementation is. I guess it’s constrained by the nature of having highway DNA? I wonder if designing US40 in this section to be inter-neighborhood rather than a pass-through corridor is even possible with agency priorities in conflict?

    You people are going to destroy a world famous design. Just like you did with Lawrence Halprin's Skyline Park. Couldn't you have found a way to incorporate the accessibility and shading features into the incredibly intricate and thoughtful paving and fixture design of I.M. Pei's original?

    • @gmancolo
      @gmancolo ปีที่แล้ว

      The pavers were dangerously slippery and the island between the bus lanes were an unpleasant no-man's land. Skyline Park is cool sculpturally but not very useful except for loiterers.

  • @NikVargaLiverpool4ever

    This is awful street design. People are going 40 miles an hour on 8th and you aren't going to put any buffer in between that and cars? Remove a travel lane going each way so you can buffer the bike lane, or extend the curb and put it on the sidewalk so it is grade-separated from traffic. Not to mention how you found that no one parks on 6th and refused to remove the parking lane. Embarrasing to believe this project is "promoting safety" when you're adding 5' bike lanes to a stroad.

    • @NikVargaLiverpool4ever

    I keep hearing you all talk about signal changing on W. Colfax as an improvement, the community keeps providing feedback saying that the signals are not working or not working as intended and we want to re look at that. Can you please address this with the community, we need to get out there and talk about them, please inform us as to when you will be arranging that, either in these meetings or otherwise. Also would like to say that having less content and more time for conversation in these meetings is great. It takes time for community to digest the materials, as we are seeing the material for the first time at these meetings, it is great to have time to ask questions and get the conversation going with community. I would ask that we look at ways to bring the chat to life more, repeating questions, so that we can use that as a spring board to more discussion. Also, wondering if there is a way to have the chat visible for people viewing these meetings on youtube, sounds like a lot happening in the chat and would love to have access to this. Thanks so much for doing this and hosting these meetings.

      Hi Heidi - for general safety enhancement requests (traffic signal issues), we encourage you to call 311 to be connected to an area traffic engineer to discuss these specific concerns. As for your other suggestions, please feel free to provide that feedback to project managers in the next Virtual Public Meeting you attend - either verbally or in the meeting chat. You can also email project managers with your feedback. Thanks!

      @@DenverDOTI I do provide this feedback, as do others in my community, at these meetings and other places. When we report the timing of the signals to 311, an engineer goes out or assess and determines they are working as intended. This may be true, but they are not working for us or keeping us any safer, and that is the part that is having trouble getting thru to DOTI. As with most, if not all, street improvements along West Colfax, they are designed first for the car, and then, if there is room, some ped. safety perspective is thrown in. We need so desperately to design our streets for PEOPLE, not cars. I really have no idea what can be done to get us all on the same page with what the community is saying, we need to all take a walk down W. Colfax, with the engineers, and stand at an intersection and let you know in real time how they don't work to the best capacity for non SOV modality. WHEN can this be arranged?

    This is ridiculous, especially coming from the organization that should be promoting bicycle infrastructure. How much are the car lobbies paying you to claim that sharrows are equally as comfortable as protected bike lanes? Bike on these neighborhood bikeways during any normal time of day and you will not be met with calm, accommodating drivers. You instead have cars quickly passing you just a few feet away while competing with park cars on your other side.
