Ford F450 Takes On The 2023 4x4 Takeover at Disney
We were lucky enough to volunteer for this years (2023) 4x4 Takeover at Disney, OK. This is a locally organized charity event that partners with Toys for Tots. The off-road hillclimb event has 4 classes: stock, Side-by-side, modified, and bouncer.
Disney is also known as "Disney Island" because it sits on an island at the southern shore of Grand Lake o' the Cherokees. Oklahoma State Highway 28 is the only road into and out of Disney. To get into Disney from the west, one must drive across the 1-mile long Pensacola Dam.
Hogan's Off Road Park in Disney, Oklahoma is a year-round campground and recreation area for off-roading. It's located next to the Pensacola Dam spillway on Grand Lake. The park has about five square miles of trails and rock structures.
This was our first time out to the Disney off-road park, and we were pleased to find that though the trails were narrow for Little Red, she was still able to handle enough of the area to be of assistance if needed. We were even able to crawl to the top of the SxS and modified trails. This Ford f450 is turning out to not only be a head turner, but also a completely capable off-road recovery rig.

Oh definitely. I was kicking myself for leaving my plastic welder out in CA, but the rivets did the job for the short term.
ill say from experience dont do the bedliner on a non-aluminum truck. all the bedliner does is hide the rot happening behind the liner until all thats left is bedliner, then the hole shows up and you have a real headache ahead of you getting all the bedliner off to repair the rot
luckily, the body of the f450 is aluminum, and if there's issues with the flairs, they can be replaced relatively cheap. I would hope it wouldn't rot out in a single season if maintained properly. Fingers crossed!
5.38 gears....it's how i went with my super duty recovery truck, also 6.17 gears are fairly easy to get Yukon makes up to the 5.38, then revolution gears for the 6.17 but after that anything taller gets real tough to find
It was much steeper than it looked in the video lol. The control this thing has in 4low in first gear is insane. Reminds me of my Jeeps decent mode. It’s fun to wheel such a big truck the only downfall is it’s width.

Dang a 550? Talk about a beast! We were stoked on how well she performed on her first time out. 44s are some heavy tires to turn. If not for the current lack of skid plates, we would have taken Little Red out on a few other occasions. The shakedown was a success, though, and showed us a couple modifications are still needed to the frame if we want our full steering. Not going to lie, but the turning was still very impressive.
They make a compound that’s works amazing. Bull dog makes it The green sos pads. Some people call them scotch pads or scotch bright. They fit right into a sander. FYI. The 100 grit. Paper is going to do the same thing. The bed liner or raptor liner your going to use. Is going to fill it all and and be textured. I really hope you got the raptor liner clear and added the paint to make it match the truck. Keep your old bottles and the gun you can get rubber under coating by the gallon. And that makes a perfect way to put it on. When putting on rubber gloves.put on 3 pairs at a time. So if need be you can just take of the top pair and keep working. Wax and grease remover will take off any unwanted over spray. Hope this helps
hey, I appreciate all that information! We had the 220 grit pads laying around, so figured they would do the trick. So far, the liner has been applied and is holding up nicely, though it's not as well textured as it would have been with a spray on application (we rolled it), but overall, it turned out nice. We went with black to match the front fenders and plan to add another line over the back fenders in the near future.
@@LittleRedORR if your not looking for texture. Use a foam roller. And light sand the second coat before putting on the 3rd. I’m going to have to watch more videos of your truck. I just love how you take a 120,000 tuck and roll on the bed liner. You don’t need to have every fancy tool to just use it once. 🤩
