My headcanons: Kash He/him Kash was always a brilliant, upbeat academic, so when he became a scientist, nobody was surprised. However, over the years he was disheartened with how difficult having his and coworkers' experiments approved for funding was, his friends slowly drifted apart from him since he had nothing to talk about other than slow-going work, and eventually, coping by smoking. More and more frustration built until, during a high-stakes surgery that was guaranteed to be published by a prestigous institution if his results were impressive, he accidentally injected the wrong vial. As the life drained from the volunteer's eyes, he panicked, gathering his team to figure out what to do. They were about to agree (the rest assured, him reluctantly) to pretend the patient was coming in next week due to an unforeseen delay, but suddenly, their head sprouted antlers and lids fluttered open! He hadn't killed anyone AND finally gotten his big break!... But the potential consequences of mutants was too much for the CEO of the company he's under to not hide. While he understood why, his bitterness morphed into resentment. Questionable projects that didn't cost much commenced under his boss' nose, until all of those missing employees was too suspicious to the higher- and he had to get rid of them, too. Their generally private ways had been the wrong choice, at least for them, because once the little chain of command was whittled away, not many thought to think or got far with the idea Kash was responsible for his sudden promotion. Just before he was about to exact his latest scheme, poisoning water across the nation's pipes with painful transfiguration potions, a strange girl arrived at his doorstep... Originally, he took her in as only a curiosity, temporarily putting his plan on hold, only to bond with her and not want her to live in a world where all of her connections would be already severed by being his daughter in a mid-apocolyptic world. Kash never gets tired of explaining to her what a certain phenomenon or object is or accepting her flower crowns. As he contemplated delivering humanity the chance to be part of monsterkind more helpfully than maliciously as previously intended, a witch appeared at the lab! She claimed to be Ella's creator, which the child happily confirmed. Now they're exploring the pumpkin patch she was raised in. Kash has gotten along amazingly with her, learning all about "magic" and teasing her at every opportunity. Ella She/her Ella's first memory is springing out of nature to greet her mother's enthusiastic face. She's always been curious and kind, struggling to obey the "stranger danger" rule, although she was never yelled at or punished for it. They rolled in leaves together and picked flowers purely for fun, learning their symbolism and herbal uses along the way. While she didn't need to eat (although can and somehow has taste) and couldn't get normal human sicknesses, she figured it'd come in handy when she met others... Her mom didn't allow this for awhile, but once she was in danger, for her daughter's safety, she had to go door-to-door trying to find someone to take her in. That happened to be Kash, who she loved because he spoiled her with candy and always fit her into his schedule. Once her other parent returned, she got everything she could've wished for-two caretakers, lovely relationships, and being one with the earth again! Anastacia She/they Anastacia, having a naturally longer lifespan, lived through the witch-hunting era. Her family also encouraged her to stay hidden, and she did, but it fostered her fascination with humans. She has a huge collection of items she hadn't understood, nonetheless bringing her happiness. When her loved ones all passed away, she grew lonely, deciding to sacrifice centuries of her existence to bring a child back to life without any of their old memories. Ella's similarities to her as a kid makes her laugh, though her recklessness rather than hesitance was a little concerning... Still, she couldn't deny Ella freedom forever, especially when a paranoid organization was trying to contain her. Their souls are connected, so throughout her encounters with the workers she felt her presence remain in the same general area, filling her with hope for her finding a good home. Kash wasn't what she expected at all, and though she felt slightly uneasy around him at first, that melted away once they became closer to each other. She's flustered whenever he lightheartedly bullies her, but she always confounds him in return. Hopefully those ghostly wails of the dead's reckoning she's been hearing is just her imagination... Feel free to do anything you'd like with these ideas (or not!) :D

My headcanons (tw: abuse and a bit of violence): Rosette She/her Rosette's had a hard life. Her father was abusive, sucking out her life-force until she became a silent, unsmiling shell of herself. When she was a preteen he gouged her eye out, and knowing she'd tell everybody as an adult about his awful behavior, he killed her before her a week before her eighteenth birthday while she was distracted with admiring her costume. Halloween had always been her favorite, not only making strangers shower her in gifts, but its macabre nature allowing her to express herself without her parent immediately shutting her up. On that holiday, she arose from her grave, somehow not suffocating in the dirt she had to rip apart. Turns out she was born to a spectre who drains souls and an undead, her mother, who went to permanent rest after the last of her essence was sucked dry. This being the case, she can't die by normal means (her dad didn't know because ghouls, let alone two having kids, is rare). Being accompanied by the knife she always kept on her because it helped her feel safe, and a cat who has an affinity for her (because she's her witch's familiar sent by her mom's spirit), Rosette begins her journey to avenge her death. She named the kitty "Moon" because that's what was watching over her rebirth. Throughout adolescence, like she was taught, she kept reaching out to people in power in the desperate hope they'd help, but even knowing her miserable circumstances, they didn't. Regardless of it being because "she's too young to be going through that so she's overreacting," petty legalities, or "I like this man too much to not downplay the truth," they scarred her with trust issues. Nowadays she's sarcastic, quiet, blunt, and distant, but if someone took the effort to genuinely care about her, she'd be overly apologetic, constantly talking about her interests, sweet, and clingy. Again, feel free to do anything with these ideas (or not) 8)

Name suggestion: Ginger because it's connected to nature and could be used in a witch's brew? If you don't find her outfit on-theme enough, you could say this is her civilian form and when she arrives to magic school she transforms, or maybe she doesn't vibe with the traditional garb therefore doesn't wear it, which ostracizes her from most of her peers :o

My headcanons: Lyric She/they Lyric is the life of the party, literally, DJing everywhere from college get-togethers to clubs. Naturally, she's pursuing a music degree. While she's a troublemaker, she has straight-As and a heart of gold, so her teachers and peers love her for the most part. Being an extrovert, she basically adopted Devin, forcing him to SLEEP when he _swears_ right after this boss he'll go to bed when he said that hours ago yet also staying up late with him having the time of their lives chugging monster energy drinks while owning the dance floor. Before she met him, she felt that something was missing from her life, and that turned out to be a true best friend. Devin Any pronouns but most commonly uses he Devin, or Discordia as he's known online, consistently streams in the hopes he'll become famous one day. At first, his grades even for his passion weren't the best. In real life he's awkward and quiet, but on camera is a whole other story. Being an introvert, he was shocked when Lyric of all people took an interest him, returning it tenfold by allowing her to vent about her people-pleasing issues and goof off in his videos, genuinely saying it's a privilege to have a future celebrity collab with him. Without her, he never would've improved his tunes enough to have others recognize his talent. Feel free to do anything you'd like with these ideas (or not!) :D
